Every season since we have been back in the Championship, it is getting tougher to compete with the top 6. Next season will be tougher again with the sides that are coming down, and 3 good sides will miss out on promotion and i imagine they will strengthen their squads again. If we can break in to the top ten it would be a massive improvement.

Not to have a managerial change.
I expect we'll improve again but not dramatically in the table, we may flirt with the top half. But as usual I will be hoping to see us raise the Championship title trophy at the end of the season.

If we can break in to the top ten it would be a massive improvement. This is a fair point i think, this year we have generally been able to compete with the majority of the teams in the division but have lacked the edge needed against the top 6. With more guile and concentration a result against Hull would have seen 3 points. These areas that need addressing should start to be behind us with new personnel and a pre-season under Wagner.

Depends how quickly the new players gel with the Championship. And assuming Nahki is not sold because of a huge offer "a la Rhodes" from a big club. It could happen! if it does then we're minted. I don't see a problem there to be honest. The "Problem" would be the money wouldn't go on any decent players.

I would like to see us compete in the top half of the league, but I can't see us being any different to the last four seasons. It is sadly not a level playing field.

Play Offs should be a realistic target , DW knows where we need to strenghten and if we improve the areas where we are weak then no reason why we cant challenge, with the squad we had this year we have shown in flashes that can compete so why not

If we're going to progress we need to do better against the top 10 teams in our league..
Our record isn't brilliant, although it has been improving, until this season
Our results over the 4 seasons are
2012/13 Won 2 Drawn 5 lost 13 2013/14 Won 3 Drawn 6 lost 11 2014/15 Won 4 Drawn 7 lost 9 2015/16 Won 2 Drawn 3 lost 14 (one to play)
The championship is like two leagues, the richer clubs coming down from the Premier league with parachute money (with the odd exceptions like Bournemouth and Burnley etc) ..and the rest. Within the 'rest' you have the bigger city clubs like Forest, Wolves, Cardiff, Leeds,Wednesday, Birmingham etc etc and the smaller clubs like Town, Brentford, MKD, Preston, Bristol City..etc etc
To make progress you need something 'special', like a style of play and a squad of players that gel together perfectly (like Burnley). With Wagner I feel he has the ability to set a style of play and we hope now he has the ability to recruit players that will gel seemlessly into this style and we'll actually have a proper team ready and willing for the start of the season. That would be a big help, to start the season well, and accumulate points that would lodge us firmly in the top half...then build from there.
I think Dean has the right strategy in the place, it's all down to recruitment now. Given we get the right pieces to the jigsaw I would be confident we can finish in the top 10, despite the likes of 3 from Villa/Newcastle/Sunderland/Norwich coming down. I don't expect much from Wigan, Burton Albion and one other coming up via the play offs...(barnsley/bradford/gillingham/millwall/walsall) ?

A lot depends on how other teams strengthen as well. We should be even more competitive next season, but then who's to say that plenty of others won't strengthen too. Preston have a had a good year and they'll be a more attractive proposition for players next season, Bristol City have got financial clout and you'd expect them to improve. Underachieving clubs like Forest,Wolves,Leeds will demand and expect an improvement. With a preseason, who's to say that Jokanovic won't get Fulham going into a decent team - did a good job at Watford. I think realistically that we 'ought' to finish somewhere around 14th-17th although a top half finish would be a big plus. Steady improvement next season and the one after will do for me. A Play-Off push would be amazing really, given the respective infrastructures and wage bills - but there's always room for a surprise team each year - one thing I'm sure of is that we are moving on the right track as a club. Continuity and steady progression with pleasing football should be our aim, although you can't legislate for someone coming in and offering silly money for one of our players.

Top half is definitely achievable with a bit more consistency.
Preston, Birmingham, Leeds and QPR all occupy top-half positions and they're certainly no better than us at our best.
I'd be amazed if we challenged for the play-offs because that really is a mini league in itself, but there's always a surprise package so why not...

Didn't Wagner say he expected around 10th to 15th. I think they'll be an awful lot of disappointed fans next year especially those that are saying playoffs

Most balanced fans that I know would be happy with a comfy midtable position next time and a decent spectacle on the pitch. There's an excitement about that something very good could be starting at this club, but we have a lot of catching-up to do before we start mixing it at the very top end.

more quality in our side and we can challenge. we lack a little in midfield, and maybe a striker (i believe we are linked with a german striker) but we should fear no one.

My expectation is that we will win games like today. We will have too much going forward and won't concede as many cheap goals. Simple as that.

An improvement if we make it would see us score a couple from 15 corners . Today we might as well have said dont bother have a goal kick.

What i see likely happening is something like this:
We'll have a much better pre-season regarding how we set up our identity and have fitter players, than just about every team in the division. Hence we'll be out of the traps and sweeping all before us initially.
The confidence and energy that this good start produces will keep us going and, coupled with a bit of good fortune, could have us riding high way into the season.
The good teams/players will of course eventually catch up with their performance levels, but the momentum we have built will see us in or around the play-offs at minimum (Dependent on amount of luck, could be anywhere between 1st and 8th I reckon).
Either that or all our new signings prove to be shit, Wagner is sacked by October, Nigel Adkins is installed as new manager and instantly states that the players are not fit enough..........

Interesting to not that since Wagner came we have scored in a higher proportion of our fixtures than any other team in the division.

Hope expectations arent getting too high with folk...but I'm excited for the season. Dont really have any expectations - think for the first time we hopefully dont have to worry about relegation, so anything more would be great

Between 10-12th. I'm not prepared to be any more specific than that. sitting on the fence as usual eh? There's nothing wrong with sitting on the fence - I'll be the one with the smile on my face when I'm the only one without a burnt arse

Convert dominance into points and improve the efficiency of chances to goals.
