A lot depends on how other teams strengthen as well. We should be even more competitive next season, but then who's to say that plenty of others won't strengthen too. Preston have a had a good year and they'll be a more attractive proposition for players next season, Bristol City have got financial clout and you'd expect them to improve. Underachieving clubs like Forest,Wolves,Leeds will demand and expect an improvement. With a preseason, who's to say that Jokanovic won't get Fulham going into a decent team - did a good job at Watford. I think realistically that we 'ought' to finish somewhere around 14th-17th although a top half finish would be a big plus. Steady improvement next season and the one after will do for me. A Play-Off push would be amazing really, given the respective infrastructures and wage bills - but there's always room for a surprise team each year - one thing I'm sure of is that we are moving on the right track as a club. Continuity and steady progression with pleasing football should be our aim, although you can't legislate for someone coming in and offering silly money for one of our players. spot on post

Once again we will be lucky to stay up, as we have been every season in this division, though one season the luck will run out, the championship will be much harder with the teams coming down and Wigan back up. If wagner stays we may be ok, but after listening to his evasiveness on RL yesterday I dont think he will be here next season. We will just have to hope there are 3 worse teams than us

Unless, of course I have missed something. Nothing on offical site that I can see, apart from offical anouncement that he is coming. I find myself slightly concerned, has he ACTUALLY signed a contract or just agreed?? Any chance the club has "jumped the gun"?, could we have empty chair part 2? It seems that he is regarded as a good choice, or at the very least an exiting prospect. Surely he would at least interest QPR and personally I'd be surprised if QPR wouldn't at least give him something to think about as they must be a far more attractive proposition than us(hate to say it but its true). One expectation for me is to see Town progress beyond the 1st round of the League Cup and beyond the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

So after sweet talking two Germans ( so far ) to up sticks and move countries to join him.
You think Wagner is now possibly going to leave his "project" ?
We are talking about a German not a cockney wide boy here.

celtic lose a game and everyone is off to manage them. Celtic are shit but everyone else up there are utterly shit. shit teams do lose every now and again even to utter shite. This rumour isnt even on the 'utter shite' radar yet..
I could manage celtic part time next season and they would still win the league and at least get to a cup semi final or two.. Wagner would see that post as one not suitable for a coach who wants to build a team and an ethos, Celtic have to win every week or there is meltdown and given the standard of the opposition, quite rightly..
Celtic just get the best players from their opponents in the same league, easy...no building required, you have the best kids in the academy and buy anyone else's who starts looking a bit of a threat..

We've been lucky to stay up this season, have we? We've never been in trouble. Go have a lie down.

DW was probably stunned that a so called journalist picked up on another so called journalist's opinion that Celtic should look at 3 Championship managers and labeled it speculation.

I think we'll do better than a lot expect. I hope we do a lot better than a lot expect. The obvious from our goals scored is that we very much need to concede a few less.. Odd thing is that if you take off some of the very crap goals we have conceded then we look in a very healthy situation..

We have to get better and more consistent, whatever anyone else does..We will make real progress when the emphasis here is on us and not all the other clubs..

I think he is ignoring the number of clubs that are better than us.. its an easy error to make when concentrating on the 3 worst clubs in the league..the warning that the league will be 'harder' next season is also 'moot', the strength of the championship certainly fluctuates to some tune, along with the teams in it, especially the middle to bottom end teams..

I believe we finished last season on 55 points - so anything less surely means we are now going backwards ?

I start every season with the same expectations as I have for years - I hope we win the first game. you cant go a season unbeaten unless you win the first. I do not think we will make playoffs, but top half would be a nice return. What I hate more than anything is the huge void between the last game of this season and the first of next. Seems like a prison sentence. And you have to read a thousand page thread entitled Summer transfer drivel. UTT
