Hate so say this but Davidson and Mooy are the same age, but Davidson has played 6 times more for Australia. My point is that Mooy is a CURRENT international. It's highly unlikely Davidson will get a future call up having lost his berth to the two younger lads in the recent internationals. Signed for City from their 'sister' club so slightly dubious but described as the best Aussie midfielder in the world (all leagues), I think its safe to say he's a bit better than Jason.

I'm pretty blasé about this to be honest. He could be great, but it feels like 'the City network' and his agent just wanted to find a Championship team in which he'll get game time, so they can sell on and get some profit. I could be wrong of course. That's exactly right, but we're a club with the chance to get a supposedly quality number ten for a season for free, paying likely nominal contribution to his wages. If we can add more strength to the team and keep our budget for other areas we'll be in great shape for next season. I was hoping for Palmer though... I think your kicker is why I'm a little bit disappointed Still, not judging anyone 'til we're 3 games in. If he comes in and rips it up then that's great!

I dislike that I've just learned he's called "Moy" (as in David Moyes without the S), he was a much better signing when I thought it was pronounced "Mooey", like a cow. (And my Mooy to Udders pun no longer makes sense) Quote sorted for ya.

Dear Dean .. I'm not ungrateful I'm really not .. I'm very excited at recent developments though I can't be arsed to go to guiseley when my beloved Wales are going to be ripping it up on ITV .... BUT can we please have a bustling physical presence striker with an eye for goal ? Just as icing on the cake .. thanks Dai

How much did he cost City? £8,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (That's how much he will cost when the Economy goes to rat shit) So he's about 12th on Man City's 'Most expensive player' list yeah?

In terms of career highlights, that's not the most inspiring of clips. Of course, anyone who can take a good penalty is a welcome addition at Town!

Interested to see what the fan reaction to this signing is so I joined up to your forum. A little context to go with my opinion: I am an Australian football fan of 26 years and have been a watcher of English football for the past 20 years. I have watched a lot of championship/league one these past 11 or so years due to my team, Leeds playing there.
There is a huge amount of fanfare from Australian supporters and media regarding Mooy. Most of it is warranted, some of it is over the top. I am one who tends to sit on the more conservative side of things when making statements about a player. He is certainly our National Teams most in form player at the moment. If any of you managed to see the recent friendly against England, he was judged by many (both Aus and English) commentators as the best midfielder on the park. If you get a chance to re-watch that match and have a closer look at him you will get a better idea of the sort of player he is. He recently dominated our A-League for the past two seasons. Along with Tom Rogic he is the best Australian player to come out of the A-League in it's 11 years of existence. His greatest asset is his passing range. He has an uncanny ability to create time and space for himself and is able to regularly pick a pass and unlock opposition defences. He is also excellent from the set piece/corner and chips in with a goal from outside the box from time to time.
He is certainly a late bloomer. A few years back I didn't rate him at all. He was being played as a defensive mid and to me just seemed to be the average A-League standard player. Even after his first stand out season in 14/15 I was dubious of the fanfare. It has only been lately with his performances with the National Team that has made me stand up and take notice. I urge you to check out his highlights online and get excited! I think Aaron Mooy will be a tremendous signing for your football club. He will take time to adjust to the Championship, but if, as I suspect your team likes to play good, passing football than he will thrive and so will HTAFC.
Good luck for the coming season.

If reports are to be believed his contract at Man City is worth AU$ 4 million per year which at current exchange rates equates to about £44,000 per week. I reckon we'll be contributing about 4 grand of that.

Interesting write up on his background and style of play - thanks for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. Based on nothing more than our friend down under and blind hope and optimism I'm going to declare Mooy an unqualified success for the season ahead. It also helps that Wagner's methodology and style seems VERY complimentary to our latest recruit (if he has actually signed)

Does this mean we are no longer after that young lad from Chelsea on a season long loan? He was a midfielder too. I'd be surprised if we brig another midfielder in now. We need another striker, a right back, left back and keeper before another midfielder.

He's a lovely player. Be interesting to see how he transitions to the championship. He'll be used to a much slower pace but he really was a joy to watch for Melbourne. He scored a lot for them and set up heaps too.
Then again I thought Davidson was good too so what do I know (in my defense I had only really seen JD for the national team and he really was excellent at the World Cup).
