Let's not forget how calm Nahki was taking and scoring the third pen. He misses, Reading just have to score one more and it's game over. That was the real stress penalty and there was no-one better to take it than Wells with his temperament. Forever a Town legend whatever happens next.

It'd be completely stupid of us to totally freeze Nahki out of the first team. The lads obviously got talent and we are probably not gonna get a better back up striker in. If his intention is to run his contact down and leave on a free, then so be it, we can afford that. But, I don't see how anyone benefits from him playing no first team football whatsoever.

The Wells situation is brinkmanship on both sides. Something will give soon enough.

I don't see a problem in giving longer contracted players the shirt before Nahki but I would definitely retain the option to play him should the need arise. He's surely only one injury and suspension from being on the bench when fully fit. Mounié, Depoitre and Kachunga are the only ones that can be picked ahead of him. I'm hoping at least it wasn't described as a win-win situation

Very sad to see the Wells situation pan out like this. Decent lad, always has time for pictures and a chat with fans and a very good footballer on his day, I was genuinely hoping he'd get get a good crack at the prem after helping us get here over the last few years!
Come on guys lets not forget where we've come from, Nahki's goals kept us in the championship before Wagner stepped in. Who knows what where we'd have been without him!!
Let's hope this somehow gets resolved and Nahki joins us on our dream!!

Sounds like stubbornness on both sides with an agent causing a stalemate as per usual

I think this is as much a message to the squad that we will not accept bad behavior from ego or agent influenced decisions, it will be an expensive lesson for all concerned. For town there could be a future benefit from the decision.
Anyway some one will be desperate in January either lower premier or playoff contenders. I wish him well!

If he did and he did well in the Premier League he would be sold if Town went down for a lot of money. As I said in my earlier comment his refusal may prevent him from ever getting the Premier League chance he has dreamed of. You can't blame Town for wanting to play committed players over those that are not so committed. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon for all concerned.

Work rate great, but simply not enough end product. Belting penalties in the play offs though.

considering it all seems to be about the Teamgeist with Wagner. I can understand the logic of freezing out Nahki, barring injury problems. He's quite a tidy player, but I don't think he has ever got over not being the "star of the show" since he left [REDACTED] them lot in the lower leagues. Wagner's football philosophy is not about placating fragile egos just yet. That might come later in his career, and if it does it will involve better players than Nahki imo.

Thing is, with dean - you're either with us or against us.Wells wanting to see out his contract says he's not with us. I'm sure Norwich will be popping up somewhere with a £300,000 bid for him....

I'm sure the Q&A wasn't just about players. Anything said about the changes to the academy, particularly the recent departures? David Moss? Marketing the club overseas?

If Dean doesn't do another Q&A it will be because some posters failed to honour the two requests made not to post his comments on social media. It's disloyal after all he's done for the club.

Let's face it - it is not the first time we have found ourselves in this scenario, besides the 'he will not play for us again' it seems to have been handled a little better than the Vaughan situation. First it was Clayton then Vaughan and Butterfield - current players have the power when their contracts are close to expiring and we profited from Clayton and Butterfield but it looks like we'll lose out on a fee for Wells. But if we stay up it won't matter one jot.

Also mentioned that Wells was aware he was now 4th choice striker, not sure I'd have signed this summer knowing I'd suddenly dropped three rungs down the pecking order

Do you honestly think he expects fans not to pass on info to family and friends? Once they do that it will then pass on down the chain. So whether it gets put on here or not, it will filter through most of the fans

I agree, but he needs to choose between being the best he can at the highest level, and going for those big championship oligarch money signing on fees - that literally piss away your career at graveyards like Aston Villa. A lot of our signings under Wagner so far, don't seem that type of player yet, thank goodness.

And she then runs off to tell her mother, thinking she's being cheeky. He's probably quite happy for his comments to be public, especially if it helps Wells move along in the next two weeks. Would be nice if Bogle and Wells were a Town-bound Zohore replacement.

I think I have respected the request. I have only mentioned references to players and this information was/is in the public domain. Dean say all the players knew the situation and was accepting of it. I have not mentioned anything else that was spoken of ( expect that change at the academy was coming, again already know in public areas and mentioned before) I think I have been careful as to what I have posted about and nothing is controversial.

He will get some game time this season unless DH actually prohibits him from playing / being available for selection.

I think he could still go for biggish money, rather than maintaining the awkwardness. In those last hours of the transfer window, all sorts of shit occurs.
