Let's make sure we stay up first. Confident now we will, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves
Win against Everton would do it

If we do manage to stay up, personally I don't think there is a lot wrong Player wise at the Club. It's more a confidence thing and Wagner getting back to geggenpressing / a more positive approach and belief in more matches.
Been a learning curve for the Manager and Players and the boost of staying up (if we do) will see us be more positive next season I think,
Be good if Kongolo can stay (yes I know unlikely) and a few quality additions. No major overhaul required.
We have a good squad and Team spirit and a good Manager.

to be honest any sort of productive winger would work miracles in our squad. in my opinion our defence is solid maybe a few backups, our central midfield is strong depending on mooys form and we have 2 strikers that have proven time and time again that if they get the service they need they WILL score goals so a player such as Sofiane Boufal of Southampton or Xherdan Shaqiri of Stoke providing said teams are relegated. keeping van la parra and quaner as first team starting wingers feels rather foolish going into next season, if we stay up that is.

The names provided in this thread are closer to retirement than they are to being good investments (other than shaquiri)

Kingsley Schindler from Kiel; you can never have enough Schindlers.

Uk based players are too expensive. I had never heard of half our team before they joined so trust Wagner to get the right ones in.
I now think we won't get. Director of Football as surely they would be in by now as our lists of players would have been drawn up. Funnily two of our previous DOFs could be at lower league teams after making a "step up"!!!

A couple of reliable posters on here seemed to think we had someone lined up for the DOF but he was serving out his notice.

I'd go for Matt Phillips at West Brom and Knockaert at Brighton. Both quick and can cross a ball. Knockaert not the darling he once was at Brighton. Also think Yoshida from saints would be a good acquisition if they go down.

I was worried about the DOF vacancy so that is positive news. I remember when we signed Mounie that in his contract if we stayed up his wages went to 50k a week. I was watching saints thinking the same about Bertrand if we can’t conclude a deal for Terrence who has been a feat loanee. Is billing going celta vigo?

I can see why yoshida and Bertrand are mentioned, but wouldn't bigger clubs be interested? Especially in Bertrand.
Long is a player I really like due to his work rate, I feel we do need a third striker that offers something different as mounie and lolo are very similar. I would look at someone like brereton at forest as he's young and has shown glimpses of having that extra something, otherwise, I would be inclined to look to the continent and also go for someone with a yard of pace, a german callum wilson would be great.
I'd also look for a bit of pace out wide too, its something we've lacked a little this season, but maybe thats everywhere not just out wide. I'd go for Oliver Burke at wba, apparently turned us down in the summer, has pace and looked similar to how bale did when he first moved on the wing at spurs, think he needs a manager to put his arm around his shoulder and get him going again, I think wagner is that guy.
Not too sure on that maddison at norwich, has had a very good season, but some of the fees being mentioned are unreal.

I think we need to set our standards a little higher than some of the names mentioned so far if we want to push on next year (assuming we stay up). Brunt, Snodgrass, Allan, Long, surely we can do better than that even with our budget. All of those players would get in our first team

I plan on googling who is doing well in The French and German leagues and pretend to be "in the know" in the summer!! 😉

I thought the same about Bertrand - that maybe ‘bigger’ clubs might want him then I remembered we are the 14th best team in UK & he would be lucky to sign for us. I hear Shane Long & say Rodriguez is better younger (I think) & offers more goals.

Players in the mould of Zaha,Townsend would fit nicely into how we play. I'd be confident there will be cheap options playing for some of the African nations usually are. We need a bit more physical presence

It will be brilliant to watch the World Cup and think that we could take some of the best players from the African, Asian, American countries.

There is no way Norwich will get anything like the figures they have put out for Maddison. I always think their agents try to put those figures out there to make their player seem more important. The clubs don't contradict as the selling club doesn't want to seem to selling their star player for less than the fans expect and the buying club wants to "show ambition " to their fans. Then the deal itself won't publicly declare the final figure

Harry Wilson on a season loan from Liverpool? He has done well at Hull. Grosicki from Hull is a livewire 2.

Would’ve thought most established players at Southampton and Stoke would break our wage structure. But Shaqiri would be amazing. Failing that Tadic would be an improvement on any of our wingers. Would prefer us to get a few star players from clubs like Bruges, Feyenoord that most people have never heard of. To buy real quality from England would cost too much for our budget. As has been said before, it's wages that sink a club and not so much transfer fees that many if not most fans seem to incorrectly focus on. Do we have a squad that could handle one player out of sync with rest if they know he brings something the rest can't?
