Be great to see us have that sort of ambition. There's wanting us to show ambition and then thinking we have a chance of a player being linked with Man City, Spurs, Liverpool and I think one of the European super clubs.

The Hogg one is controversial and quite fundamental to the overall policy. Hogg has improved his overall play, but his shortcomings in possession are still fairly obvious, but his short back n sides/get stuck in persona, seems to let him off criticism others receive. However, we may upgrade in terms of talent, but would the new incumbent do the organising, jeeing up, put the same effort in, not hide when the going gets tough, etc. I'd suggest Hogg gets a few percent more out of those around him. If we stay up, it'll be interesting to see what we do in trying to improve the quality without ripping out the heart of the club, which is one of, if not the biggest differentiator between us and most of our peers. A real conundrum. I also think people overlook the number of times that Hogg leads the press and we win the ball back, either by smothering the man on the ball with three men or him doubling up on the target man and taking it off his toes. It’s not a case of Hogg gets stuck in and runs around a lot so we should back him. He is positionally very astute and protects the centre backs brilliantly. His passing has also improved quite a bit since the start of the year, his floated balls out to the full backs are generally better than Mooy’s. To find someone as good off the ball that can carry a goal threat and play through the middle would either be a Kante-level pluck from France or cost a fortune. I think mooy could play the Hogg role...great energy and commitment. But better on the ball. Love hoggys desire but if we are to progress we need an upgrade

No chance of Ashley Barnes - one of the first names on Burnley's teamsheet and recently signed a new long-term contract. Newcastle, West Ham and Wolves have all shown interest in him (and even Chelsea around about January when they were desperate).
Barnes 21 in 123 (half of those were sub appearances in 2014/15 and 2016/17.

How could anyone advocate getting rid of Hogg? His passion is absolutely crucial to the team spirit. I think he has had a very good season and adapted well.

At least we'll have a big warchest when Schindler goes lol he won’t be foing anywhere just yet. If we finish top half next season and he’s been ever present then we might see a humongous offer come in...a la van dijk.

The obvious area to improve is the 3 behind the striker, all our current players there are good standard, top end, Championship players but the lack of assists and goals, from whoever has played there, has been telling. We will need a first choice LB, assuming we cannot keep Terry K, I'd keep Lowe as a backup and try to recoup money spent on Malone. Finally, this won't be popular, but we need a better version of Hogg, as while you cannot fault his effort and tackling, more is required of even a defensive midfielder today and his passing and shooting is not up to mid table premier league standard. I love what he's done for us, he was absolutely pivotal on getting us where we are today, but we need more if we are to kick on next season, he'd be a great back up though. Totally agree with the recoup money on Malone but 0% agree on the Hogg point.

Has anybody said we should get rid of Hogg?? Football is constant evolution if you want to get anywhere. Our weakest midfielder retires, we upgrade, Hogg moves to the bench thus making our SQUAD stronger.

Dyche has always been an admirer of Hogg (from their Watford days)...we were skint when Hogg went to Town, so it would not surprise me if SD did sign Hogg if there was a chance and transform him like he has Scott Arfield.

He’s done a cracking job at locomotiv as well top with 5 to play.

Yes because Hogg has been absolutely terrible for us just like Scott Arfield. Why on earth do you have to make every post about Burnley? This isn't a Burnley forum.

As I said ages ago wasn’t given a name but told the new bloke was finishing his season with the current club seems dean Hoyle confirmed that at QnA. The link to the bloke at locomotiv does make sense given his German and done well with a club that’s not the biggest size or budget wise.

Do you think the new DoF will be doing his job at his current club and will be in constant contact with our club behind the scenes, so that he is not coming in cold ?

We need to change our approach to some sides in particular next season & our quality going forward simple as.....VLP/Ince/Quaner/Malone/Smith certainly need upgrading at least....Kachunga was poor until injured although was probably never 100%. Tin hat on but I have been really disappointed with Mooy in a majority of games particularly when we are chasing games & nee to move the ball quicker & with more purpose-it seems he can only play one way!
We have to create more chances & have more men around the box simple as-our crossing & set pieces have been woeful this season.
Although on a positive at least we may now survive (hopefully a win against Everton & we can relax a bit) & that was the aim at the start & we can build with more quality this summer which will however cost a bit more.

Sonny Kittel (25) from Ingolstadt. Attacking midfielder with 9 goals and 11 assists in 29 Bundesliga 2 matches this season. 73.5% pass success and an average of 3 key passes per game (highest in the division).
Kevin Stöger (24) from Bochum. Central midfielder who plays either as a number 8 or 10 with 4 goals and 6 assists in 26 Bundesliga 2 matches. 73% pass success and an average of 2.5 key passes per game.

Don't get me wrong, I rate Hogg and doubt he will be going anywhere. Its Whitehead who will be leaving or moving into coaching I would imagine, but there's no point signing a replacement who's not an improvement on Hogg

Keep hold of our best (Schindler mooy etc.) Unlikely but try to make Kongola permanent Sign attacking threats
Always tough to draw the line between ambition and risk but I would love us to go after a big name such as Tadic, Gabbiadini or Rodriguez

He'll be 34 by the time the season starts and hasn't played at all for Leicester this season. Hennessey, are you serious? Morrison is going to be 32 next month. Huth and Morrison wouldn't even get on the bench and Hennessey's save % isn't anything to write home about.

Think centre mid is fine for next season, there are other positions that are more of a priority: Left back Left wing Number 10 Right wing And possibly right back We need quality rather than quantity so each of those players will cost a fair bit. Think an upgrade on Hogg is a nice to have. [ If we stay up and it looks very likely, then to push us on we need to improve the squad all over the pitch. Last season we built the squad up by buying top end championship players, so we would now have to target players that can cope at this level and move us forward to the next level!

Ask Klopp to to have a word with Milner. Won't get near Liverpool's first XI next season and maybe Clyne
