If there is a L**ds fan skulking in this thread i have a little tale. L**ds received £125 million in all their Prem seasons...we have already eclipsed that And if we survive the same length of time then Dean will have seen over a billion pounds crashing through the cash registers! (And I reckon we'd still spend less on goldfish...unless Rob Green is the modern day goldfish).

Why the 22 likes and 4 page wankfest? Is this Craig guy in the know? He's not even in this hemisphere 😁 He's just about getting up when the rest of us are turning in for the night, so of course he gets to find stuff out well ahead of the rest of us !

I'm still getting my head around the fact that our top earner is on £55 grand a week. And our top earner next season will probably be on more than that. I know these are the types of wages we have to pay at this level, but its taking a bit of getting used to. Our rise has been so quick, it's hard to appreciate what has happened. We've hardly had chance to draw breath. Who's on £55k a week? I saw a link on here saying Pritchard was on that but that same website says his wage doubles next season to £110k a week which is utter nonsense. I heard Pritchard was on £55 grand a week. Could be bollox I suppose, but it wouldn't surprise me at all, even if it seems strange Town could be paying that sort of money.

Well I see Garry Rowett has asked to speak to Stoke! After signing a 3 year contract just 5 months ago. Just shows how contracts are nothing more than a signal of intent. He got a lot of sympathy when birmingham ditched him, but now hes happy to ditch Derby when something he regards as better comes along. He was questioning the bottle of some of his players when it looked like they might finish outside playoffs. If they've only told him theres no money to rebuild the ageing squad until after he's signed the contract then he might feel he's done as much as he can and its time to move on. All conjecture of course.

If we are gonna pay Wagner 100k a week then I hope to god we play better attacking football next season.
Don't get me wrong, what he has achieved is incredible but another season of us scoring 1 goal every 5 games would be torture. It's about being entertained not just where you finish at the end.

Funny thing, entertainment. Means different things to different people. Chris Powells time in charge saw us create a lot of goalscoring chances most games. (We didn;t take many of course but thats a different moan.) FAR more chances than we created in Wagners promotion season IMO. But no one was moaning about the lack of entertainment then. Think for your average Town fan, entertainment = winning. Losing = boring. Last season was a bit of a free hit in that respect because everyone knew we were always so up against it, a point in a nil nil was a very acceptable result usually. I do agree, next season will see many fans expect a bit more in terms of goals and chances. Sure wagner understands that and to be fair, if this side had had a decent winger who could cross a ball, then I think we'd have notched a lot more than we did.

He got a lot of sympathy when birmingham ditched him, but now hes happy to ditch Derby when something he regards as better comes along. To be slightly fairer to him though, he could have ditched Derby in January when Stoke were sniffing then, but showed some loyalty to Derby. By all accounts, Derby are reducing player budget and wage bill for this coming season, so the Stoke job would look more attractive. Plus, Derby fans aren't exactly enamoured with his 'style' of play. The contract he signed allows Derby to pocket about £1.8m for him, should he go to Stoke. Possibly suits all parties. Stoke get a manager who knows the division well, gets teams organised and working for each other and will probably have a very good budget to get them up. For his personal CV, Stoke offer him the best chance he is ever likely to get to become a PL manager.

I agree that seeing a repeat of some of the things we saw this season would turn some people off. It would more than likely have an adverse effect on the home atmosphere as well. On the flip side however, Burnley only scored 8 goals more than us and finished 7th. I'm sure Wagner recognizes that we're not too far away from having a squad that could potentially do something similar. I think most would agree, that would be entertaining in the extreme, no matter what style of football we played to achieve it. I can't see us adopting a freescoring, damn the torpedoes approach overnight. When Wagner does sign, and I believe he will, he will do so with a plan and I'm pretty sure that won't be to stand still. We've had some big days in the last two years, but I feel that there are still more yet to come.

Agree with all that but it was not just the lack of a winger. There was no attacking intent. Midfield dont support the striker. Hogg and Mooy rarely got over the halfway line. Wonder how many shots Hogg had all season...five? Should have that a match from central midfield. Crosses without someone in the box are meaningless....i think VLP, Ince and Quaner were told "ball retention first".

I would happily have a repeat performance from town and 5th bottom would do fine for me. Who wants to be in the second tier once you’ve been at the top table? Who wants a bmw for a year then you have to sell it and get a vauxall?
We will be better next year thoughcwith Pritchard leading the way and every single player in shooting practice all summer as every player missed chance after chance last year from the first match whet we could have scored 10 and the last match when we could have easily scored 5 but not a single player cam hit the proverbial cows arse with a banjo.

HTAFC is of course DW’s only first team appointment so far. Given his relationship with Dean Hoyle, I hope he will want to build and polish his reputation here before upgrading to a bigger club with bigger budgets, more fickle fans and a short term approach. Higher reward = higher risk. He won’t want to be a one club wonder.

Pochettino hasn't won anything with Spurs yet, he might have delivered Champions League football but that's the minimum they should be achieving. If he doesn't leave this summer he'll be sacked next season if he doesn't win them something I reckon.

Looking at the bigger picture being in the premier league a second season has already put £300m into the club, so if the stories of Wagner’s salary are true it is chicken feed! To many on here still not grasping where we are.

To many on here still not grasping where we are. Plenty are grasping where we are, the point is we won't and shouldn't be paying Wagner similar to someone like Rafa Benitez who's won the Champions League, and Pellegrini announced at West Ham on £5m a year who's won the Premier League amongst other trophies.

The alternative is not paying Wagner the market rate and someone like Everton, Leicester, West Ham etc picking him up ... because they will pay his market rate (he is one of the brightest you managerial talents in world football now) I'd also be shocked at £100k a week but if it's on say a two year deal I could see it happening - £10m against what he's earned the club wouldn't be unjust Also Wagner is improving as a manager. He adapted in the last year, e.g. we stopped the play from the goalie and also found a way to play against the big teams. He'll probably grow further next season As for the comments on playing style. The first priority of the club needs to be survival. We should look at WBA or Stoke to see what happens when you become complacent with staying up and start to try and get more expansive. Target again for me is 17th place - anything else is a overachievement

Why not? In relative terms, Wagner getting us promoted and keeping us in the division is just as much an achievement as Benitez winning the CL with Liverpool and Pellegrini the PL with City
Plenty are grasping where we are, the point is we won't and shouldn't be paying Wagner similar to someone like Rafa Benitez who's won the Champions League, and Pellegrini announced at West Ham on £5m a year who's won the Premier League amongst other trophies.
I think you're confusing or at least conflating achievement with position. I'd argue that DW's achievement of promotion on a budget and premier league survival on a comparable budget are just as impressive, if not more so than the two examples you give.
Newcastle pay Rafa to keep them in the prem, not to win the Champions league and I'm sure Pellegrini won't be expected to lift the title next season.
DWs value is not interdependent of HTAFC. I wouldnt fancy paying less money to gamble on a manager of any stripe, being able to come in and not only get it right tactically but man manage and draw the respect (and thus performance) that DW can.
I'd genuinely pay him more if that's what it took to have him here.

The question really should be; What price stability? That is what you are getting with DW and also you are getting someone who is ambitious and wants to improve. I don't believe for one second that if he thought he couldn't improve the team and himself he would stay at Town, irrespective of the pay cheque.
Next season we have to improve. We need better quality in the squad. I am absolutely certain all concerned are completely aware of this. I expect some changes in the playing squad and an attempt to make us better. I am not deluded to think we won't be fighting relegation again but I hope that that fight will be a little bit easier than this time round.
Every season we stay at this level is priceless, the riches are such. The trick is to maintain stability, continue to improve on and off the pitch and keep the positive momentum.
The last two years have given us a platform from which to build, it is an opportunity we must take. Keeping DW is worth every penny for the stability and clear focus he brings. The rest of the club have to catch up with him, if they do this club will have moved further forward than it has for 5 generations.
