Allardyce? Moyes? I thought we got off the managerial merry-go-round. Moyes would be a good fit for Town but Allardyce no thank you

People like me ? You mean people like dean Hoyle surely ? It's dean Hoyle that said it ? Maybe Sunderland were being small time when they started sacking gaffers. And stoke .. and west brom .. and swansea and Leeds and Wigan and Bolton and forest and Wednesday and United and and and and ...... . Where is your evidence to back up that the answer to not continuing to overachieve is sacking the manager that elevated you in the first place ? Talking Billy big bollocks cos you play FIFA and support man Utd don't cut it for me kid You missed Charlton. The club where to me it seems the fans were the catalyst for getting Curbishley the boot......hmmmmm, that worked. I'm sure some think the 'likes' of you and me are happy, when we're clearly not, we just have at least an ounce of common sense and logic, plus the ability to sit back and think before inflicting the first thing that comes into our mind on the unsuspecting public. Absolutely ... I left early yesterday .. I was fucking raging ... we started so well and it fizzled out .. we were wasteful and at times slack . Our 10m man couldn’t trap a football .. I was livid !!! This “happy clapper” tag is utter bollocks . It’s about being able to see the bigger picture . If folk think sacking the manager will reap rewards need to check in to the nearest ward . Sam Allardyce ? Ffs .. I thought we all embraced doing things differently ? Well we did until we lost a few games . All these whining FIFA managers need to admit the truth . They can’t bear it when Town lose . That’s it in a nutshell .

This is the first time DW has faced this sort of pressure as a manager, so he'll be under some stress I reckon. However he's built up enough credits over the past few years to qualify for some space I reckon. I have criticised the tactics and the performances but it's not time to be calling for his head - and that won't happen anyway under DH. Fans need to show some loyalty and patience...and stick with the club. We're supposed to be 'different' to other clubs and other fans, aren't we ? Yes YOU are.

How long WOULD I give Wagner ? The same as hoyle WILL . This season and beyond . He’s a miracle worker . Best manager in my lifetime .. end of debate imo Huge part of the problem this. People like you shackled to the small club mentality and by the looks of it have no ambition or even desire to strive for anything better than this. The footballs been complete crap for a while now, 1 win in 16. I think Hoyle maybe forced into action this time, in the next 4-8 games. There is no sentimentality in football, ask Mr. Ranieri about that. Small club mentality? I hate to break it to you FDB, but we ARE a small club - at least by PL standards. Pretending otherwise will not suddenly improve us or make us "bigger". Ambition is great, but blind ambition & panic is not. You can point to times when it's worked for a club to part ways with the manager (even within our own club), but look at where it hasn't worked too. WBA, Stoke, Birmingham, Sunderland, Charlton. Sacking your manager is the right decision when the manager is the problem. This was always going to be a short stay in the Premier League. Even if we stay up this year (& FWIW, I don't think we will), we'll be one of the favourites for the drop next year. Same for the year after. I suppose the question is, what should we be aiming for? Should we go nuts, rush into changing this, that & the other in the hope that something will work & keep us up for another year? Then when we finally do go down, we end up going the same way as Sunderland, or Bolton, or Wigan, or Chartlon.... Or, we could retain a bit of stability, build the club up so that when we eventually do go down (and we will, Sunderland stayed up by the skin of their teeth year after year but eventually succumbed - and they're a much bigger club than us), we're in a strong position to challenge in the Championship & have a solid foundation to build from. Plus, by sticking with Wagner through the tough times we become a more attractive proposition when trying to recruit his replacement. What would make you happy? Staying in the PL? For how long would that keep you happy if we're not challenging for European football? If we're seriously challenging for European football, how long will you tolerate us not getting there? If we get there, how long will you tolerate us not going very far in the Europa League?... etc. I remember 7 years ago, when people were saying they'd be happy if we could just get out of that crappy division & into the Championship..... As for Allardyce, he's exactly the manager you need when you have a bunch of players who are too talented to be in a relegation battle, but are in one anyway. He's great at keeping players' minds focused on the pitch when the club is being run like a bag of shite behind the scenes or fans (ahem) not being terribly supportive. He kept Everton up... but this was a club who had spent enough money to have people thinking of Everton being the latest addition to a "big 7". He kept Crystal Palace up, but spent ludicrous sums of money in order to do so. Even if Wagner left tomorrow, I would not want Allardyce as our manager in the current situation.

I'm not saying I want Wagner to go but if we're still on 2 points in 4 or 5 games time then the evidence of last season showed a new manager can turn things around and Dean will have a decision to make. Although I think Dean would rather be in the Championship than have to sack Wagner after what he's achieved.
Everton, Palace, West Ham, Watford and Southampton all changed managers and survived. Swansea also had a massive up turn in form early doors when Carvahal came in but it did fizzle out
Players get too used to the same faces, same tactics, same training day after day and lose motivation. A change in manager and staff more often than not has a positive impact at this level.

Tinpot is right, it was always going to be a cameo appearance in the prem', if we panic and end going down with a massive wage bill and players that we panic bought we will be gimped for the next three years. Stick the premiership up your fucking arse, if you're not one of the 'big six', you are just fluffers, cannon fodder or a make weight.

Would you ? 2/3/4 - 10 more games of this ? Where’s the cut off ? Long ball or direct. Threat and goals. Identity has left us, crowd soon to follow - this is what’s left..... There is no cut off, DW is with us for the season unless he wants to walk. DH has already stated this so fat Sam won't get a luck in. Why the fuck would we want him here?

Fair play to you Ted. I’m usually glass half full but... 👴😲 So if I'd told you three years ago what was about to happen you wouldn't have given me a slap and told me to stop talking daft ? Oh I know... I’m as guilty as the latest McFootball fan. Never been at the top table before, would just like to stay here and if that means someone has to go...... Just like Hef, no room for sentiment, can’t stand still etc. Like I say, question was more how long is too long? If he leaves after taking us down then we may as well bin him off beforehand and attempt something different?

You talk to Sunderland fans on what went wrong there, nothing to do with managers but them above. He must have done something at Preston for a top 8 club to offer him a job. Anyway just think next season you'll be able to put your legs over the seat Infront of you and say "Arr thats better back to normal" Small minded fan with the little club mentality.

Think what the main thing is that there appears to be no progression from last season, every season is about being better than the last one, we haven't done that really. It's about looking forward. Whether the club realise that or will admit it, I don't know. One of the main considerations here is, if we are relegated is Wagner going to stay? If not, should we take action and get someone in who could keep us up if he is going to leave if he takes us down?

I suspect it's a conversation both Hoyle and Wagner will have. If Wagner wants to stay and continue then I would support him all the way.

Dean Hoyle and David Wagner respect and trust each other. Whilst that remains the case I can’t see either party doing anything to change the relationship. They’ll work together to try to keep Town in the PL, if not, then I think they’ll continue to work together to try to get Town back up ASAP. Some bad decisions on player recruitment possibly seem to have been made though.

Hypothetical Would you rather go down with DW or stay up with Sam? No double entendres please 😉 I think I would rather go down with DW, providing he stays with us. Continuity can be a positive, its worked for Burnley. If he had big Sam, provided he kept us up, then what? Burnley is an interesting comparison, be interesting to see how they fair this season. Good result for them takes the sting out. We need one desperately . Agree this continuity can be a positive, but it’s also now proven elsewhere that so can change. I think I’m more put off by the narrow way we came up and the continuous requirement of more goals scored being an issue since that season. I wouldn’t be confident of a promotion challenge on our return to Div 2. Town under DWs tenure have given me more joy and pride than they have in all my years as a town fan. I don’t think he’s now shit or lost the dressing room. Maybe his inexperience is now showing? I don’t know. I think we are greater than the sum of our parts right now and look a far cry from the team that battered Watford and Brighton last year. Maybe we’ll improve, maybe we won’t. I’ve got plenty of perspective on how much we’ve laid out in comparison to other teams over players and wages. It’s massive. But I’d also like to see us have a go again and even go down sticking to the principles and the “identity” of the Huddersfield football factory. Maybe I’ve just grown weary of the lack of “proven” talent in signings. If he was scouring the British lower leagues I’d feel more engaged. But what doesn’t speak doesn’t lie. Goals win games, backpasses don’t. This is the antithesis of gegenpressing !

DW isn't the issue, recruitment of quality is the issue. I understand and respect the policy of buying potential but in doing so it means you are gambling on those players realising that potential. At the moment I think that in a couple of areas on the pitch we lack the quality. As DH said it's a Billionaires game in the Premier League, DH is great but he's not a Billionaire. It's a simple equation - you generally get what you pay for. To have got to and had two seasons in the Premier League is fantastic. Stability through the club is wonderful too but sustaining this level, let alone progressing, on this policy cannot be guaranteed. You can't expect DW to keep getting extra from players. I don't think any manager would do much better, if at all, than DW with the players available. No one is being dishonest , no one isn't trying but it is likely to be very difficult to sustain Premier League football year on year with this policy. Not impossible with excellent recruitment but very tough. This all means it's a tough reality and also a tough watch. It is however our identity and unless we are taken on by a new owner with deeper pockets it is an identity we have to follow. Talk of sacking DW is daft. There's no loss of spirit, effort is there, the atmosphere at the club is good but if you are quite good enough in some key areas you will struggle. That's the reality and it's a reality I expect. Unless something looks like badly deteriorating I can live with it knowing that financially we should be able to compete at a lower level and get back and go again. If we did yo-yo I'm afraid unless our recruitment was outstanding we'd have the same problem. Debate it all you want but that us the bottom line. Not sure I agree that it's the recruitment. What saved us last season was our early season form when we were gegenpressing and playing on the front foot. Wagner changed it after the home defeat to Spurs. Since then our form has been awful. I'm afraid if we don't change the way we play, we are going down with a whimper. I take the point but if we had more quality within the squad, especially going forward the knowledge that we had an outlet would help our confidence, tactics and results. It's a classic Catch 22, pay better wages but risk financial problems or the reverse but be slightly short. The frustrating thing is that we have quality in defence but offensively we lack that extra bit that raises the team above slightly below average to competitive. The Premier League is also better this season than last and I don't think we are any better. It's a tough balance to strike but we need to acknowledge that we have a limited level of what we can expect to achieve. Long term we need to at least be able to compete at the top end of the Championship again, the real failure would be not to be able to do that.

FFS, i had such high hopes for this season, i mean if Burnley can get in to Europe i am sure Huddersfield Town can. You cant run until you can walk, i mean i heard it again this lunch time in the local and it does my shed in "Little old Huddersfield bollocks" i'm sure the Watford, Brighton, Burnley, Bournemouth fans all say the same. Come next May and we go down, well we just rebuild and have another go at reaching the greedy league and staying a bit longer.

I've seen a few posters saying that there is no room for sentimentally supporting Wagner. Is it really just sentimentality backing a manager who has proved himself in the previous two seasons?
If Wagner's achievements were in the dim and distant past then the argument about sentimentality might hold some water. As it is his successes were in the IMMEDIATE past and we are only six games into this season!
They say some memories are short, but some fans are doing great impressions of goldfish at the moment.

Said it weeks ago, once you think that Wagner is taking us down, and Allardyce would keep us up, then I'd make the call. But it's Dean's club, and we all know he's said that Wagner will be with us in the championship should it come to that. The next discussion after that, is what would Wagner achieve with this club in the championship. I think our promotion season was very much a one off for us, and for Wagner tbh. Is that not what's wrong with the club at the moment though? It feels like we are here as mere tourists. Signs all over the town saying we are premier league and a team that is anything but. It's like the second we were promoted we accepted we would fail. We stayed up and you would have thought we would crack on this year but if anything we are going backwards at an alarming rate. The chairman saying the manager is safe no matter what was an absolutely stupid thing to say. It's not about Wagner it's about this club. There are managers out there who can do a better job so why is Wagner so untouchable? Small town syndrome even in the premier league
