I'm not saying I want Wagner to go but if we're still on 2 points in 4 or 5 games time then the evidence of last season showed a new manager can turn things around and Dean will have a decision to make. Although I think Dean would rather be in the Championship than have to sack Wagner after what he's achieved. Everton, Palace, West Ham, Watford and Southampton all changed managers and survived. Swansea also had a massive up turn in form early doors when Carvahal came in but it did fizzle out Players get too used to the same faces, same tactics, same training day after day and lose motivation. A change in manager and staff more often than not has a positive impact at this level. You've given no strong evidence to back that assertion up, and you deliberately omitted West Brom and Stoke from the list of clubs who changed managers last season. If last season is anything to go by as you say it is, the only reason changes in manager "more often than not" result in survival is because there are less relegation places than clubs who change manager.

If we were to change managers, ( and at the moment Im not saying we should ) then Allardyce would be a superb choice to replace him. His track record is EXACTLY what we would want.
Wouldnt be cheap, but neither is wagner and if the result is staying up, hed be a bargain.
The football... well i struggle to see how it would be any duller than we're getting just now. With Town its all about results and there simply isn;t anyone else who we could realistically get who has a proven track record of getting the necessary results out of struggling teams in the prem. ( there isn;t anyone else who we couldn't realistically get either, for that matter!)
We're not everton, or newcastle, where fans have this deluded opinion of how their teams should play whilst winning. For us, its all about winning, no matter how its achieved.
Allardyce would be a perfect fit for Town IMO.

However i can only see Wagner leaving or being sacked if we have a shocking run of results over the next couple of months, for example we get to Christmas with about 6 points or less. Would Sam take us on at that point i am not sure but he would be the best option to give us the best chance of safety. For what it's worth i don't think Wagner will leave this season.

Have to agree he wouldn't be in a rush to take the job if he didn't think he could save us. Wagner has to have a cut off point or else it will be too late if things haven't been turned round. I'd give him more time for now. Maybe 6 or 7 games to get some results.

All but Stoke improved their points per game ratio after changing managers. That suggests there is a benefit to making a change It should be Jacko and Yorath anyway, not Allardyce, if it's a great escape that's needed

We're bottom of the league with 6 goals and 1 win in our last 16 league games!! Don't think theres anything wrong or in the slightest bit surprising in fans thinking about the options.
Id be surprised if Dean hoyle wasn;t.

I don’t think Allardyce, hypothetical or otherwise, is the right way to go. He’d want a January war chest to buy players for the system and if we stayed up he’d probably go anyway. Would those players be right for the next man? Our budget needs to be spent very wisely, and at the minute it looks as though it hasn’t been in the summer. To compound that by bringing in a mercenary journeyman that could saddle us with yet more expensive failures would be too much of a risk and could suffocate us whether we go down.
Even if we stay up it could compound the issue for next season and create even bigger problems if we don’t do it sustainably. When Wagner does go, whatever the situation, I’d rather we invest in another manager in the same type of mould that will build on what Wagner has built. Rather than panicking at the first real sign of trouble and throwing away everything that has made this journey so special. No idea who that would be.
I don’t Allardyce would take it anyway, as we have one of the worst 3 squads in the league and he usually takes over an underachieving squad with proven quality. We’ve been an overachieving squad masking the lack of quality by teamwork and tenacity.
