I'm with Thrice and Preston - will support ST until such time as he isn't at the helm.
I've just had a quick look over Aidy Boothroyds record and to be honest it isn't that great.
He took over in 2005 with 7 leaue games remaining - hit the ground running by losing his first three.
Was promoted to the Prem via the play-offs the season after - winning the final 3-0 against what was an inept Leeds side. I'll give credit for that though - an admirable achievement.
Was relegated from the Prem rooted to the bottom after basically making up the numbers (probably because playing long ball really doesn't work at that level).
Last season made the play-offs again and from memory was well and truly battered in the SemiFinal. With Parachute payments is this really an achievement?
??
And this season they are currently in the bottom four.
If we did change managers
(and I dont think we will), why would we want to remain a long ball side? I'd much rather see someone in the mould of Gary Johnson down here who would get it on the deck. At least thats a style that can cut in the top flight which is supposedly where we want to be.
His record is W37%, Lost 34%, Drawn 29% from 2.1/2 seasons in the championship, and 1 season in the prem. Yes he is a decentish young manager but there are several who have got promoted from the Championship and done bugger all thereafter.
Just because the guy is northern, played a handful of games for us years ago, is pally with the messiah aka GM and is currently out of a job doesnt qualify him to be the answer to every Town fans prayers, and certainly doesnt make him "the best young english manager about". What it probably would afford him is a fairer crack of the whip than ST though.
