The two GMs didn't want him. They had the chance to play him in one game before he had to go back. They were trying to get the team playing so it didn’t make much sense to play him.

Rossi - I remember reading some Carlisle threads before Jan stating that Graham was having a lazy season and poor games (2 goals in 14) then all of a sudden come January time (i.e. when he knows teams are looking at him) he's busting a gut scoring etc. Coincidence or what!

I think the only realistic way we could get both Graham and Dickinson would be to sell both Collins and Smithies. Have to be sensible with budgets and not over stretch ourselves

Have to be sensible with budgets and not over stretch ourselves I think selling both would be a bit extreme. It's a bit of a steep price to have to sell 2 of our most consistent (recent) performers, just to sign 2 strikers who are only proven at League 1 level. Don't get me wrong, I think either striker or both of them would be good signings... but not at the expense of a highly promising goal keeper and a goal scoring midfielder

Cant we get Graham and Dicko? I guess that would keep everyone happy Surely the combined cost of them both would be less than for just Gallagher?

Forgot to add - why sell those 2 to sign 2 strikers just for a push for the play offs that we may not reach when we could wait til Summer and a new season's budget.

I guess we must have been watching different players I don't remember him working hard at all, in fact his lack of work was the most striking thing about him. He used to get fired up after a goal and really get stuck in for 5 mins and during that 5 mins he'd actually look ok. I'd disagree about skill too, other than being able to strike a free kick, he had little skill in terms of picking a pass or taking a man on or even controlling the ball first time. Very poor at linking play. His annoying pretentious and ultimately unsuccessful little flicks were positively non league standard. Graham isn't super man but he knows were the net is on top of being hard working, decent in the air and an intelligent link player - Carlisle's goals against Leeds showed that. This thread depresses me, so I'm happy that at least the poll showed Dicko is the 3rd choice of the fans. Dickinson did a great job closing down opposing defences on his own. There were times when he was actually over-enthusiastic. That on top of scoring goals. I thought he did well for us and would certainly liked to have kept him. As someone says, the two GMs clearly didn't fancy him, but then they thought Roberts was a striker rather than a winger and Joe Skarz was a sweeper with pace to cover the centre halves.

The GMs could have picked Dickinson for one game, at Leeds, so they got that one wrong. They decided to play 3–5–2, which doesn’t use wingers but with Cads injured and Parker suspended they didn’t have many options anyway. Skarz was sweeper because TC was at Bradford and Berrett was injured. The GMs made their choices based on what they had available and if they hadn’t done as well as they did we would be where we are.

Vs L**ds... Parker started and Cads came on as sub to set up the winner..... and Berrett played as sweeper, with Skarz as Left Wing back (hence getting in on goal to equalise...)
