I think glennon should start in goal against yeovil we concede more with smithie in goal. He is propect but he need experience and it might cost us ?? On what planet have we conceded more with smithies in goal? On planet earth: Smithies: P 10, conceded 12 ...3 clean sheets. Glennon: P 22, conceded 36...4 clean sheets

I'd be in him more than anything if he goes. He really should show some loyalty. He's got in to the first team and he playing relitevely well, so would sitting in Chelsea's reserves really be a step up? I don't think so. Look at what's happened to Stead.

O'Reagan just said Holdsworth is on his way.... He didn't - he said he thinks holdsworth may go. His reasoning was oggy's comments on hoyle's comments about the squad size and that he will leave the out of contract players to clark. I'm sure hoyle also said (generally, not referring to anyone in particular) that negotiations are ongoing. The caller also took it wrong as well ...as though kieran was saying holdsworth wanted to go. I'd imagine unsworth, kamara, worthy will go as out of contract. Hoyle also hinted about stan's poor signings were stuck with on 3 year deals ...flynn? parker? Lucketti ?( on 2)...Take your pick.

Compare Steads bank balance to Clarkes and you can see exactly why Smithies is off. He's free to talk to other clubs so prob has offers on the table and that'll be why the goalposts have moved. People have been saying Clark is looking for a keeper since he came so this is no real surprise is it?

IF he has been with town since the age of 8 and is a fan well the option IMO is simple. SIgn the new deal.
If i was him and i was playing for the club i loved i would sign in the drop of a hat!

He's been at the club since he was 8 years old. Surely loyalty should be in his heart, lets hope he stays. No such thing these days, money talks

QPR, Tottenham, Chelski etc.. all at game to see the lad progress and get his signature. From Deano himself on Radio L**ds. Might be a blessing that he didn't have his best game today then...... Thats not to say he didn't play well, he just didn't look as comfortable today as he had in previous games, possibly due to the big crowdm and playing against a better team.

I became really upset when I read what Hoyle had to say about Smithies. How could an 18 year old, admittedly one with great potential, who has only played 7 or so games in our 1st team (and put in the shop window by Murphy and Mitchell) then turn his back on the club which brought him through, all the way from being an 8 year old? After a bit I calmed down. I think Hoyle has been very cute in getting this all out in the open.
It may be that Alex's agent hasn't been exactly honest with him. Now that it is out in the open that Town have met his agent's contract demands but then the agent reneged on a verbal agreement that he would sign because "the goalposts have moved", the pressure is on Alex - and his agent.
Does Smithies want to leave his home town club to sit in some premier league reserve team, as 2nd or 3rd choice? Or does he want to carry on playing for his home town club, thus further developing his potential and remaining in the shop window? Does he want to leave Town for an appropriate fee, with the fans' good wishes, as "England's number 1" or as an ungrateful, money-grasping "turncoat"?
If he'd rather have the money NOW, whatever the consequences, he is most definitely NOT the kind of player we want in our squad. That is implicit in Hoyle's very clever statement. I would guess it's his agent who wants as much money as possible now and like most agent/parasites, he couldn't give a damn about the best interests of the player.

If he thinks he's too good to play for Town, GET HIM THE FXXK OUT. NOW! At least we'll get some money in instead of letting him go on a free in summer.

If he's playing for the money get shot now, we'd get more money for him now than what a tribunal would.

Lets calm down about this. Its all mind games at the moment. Smithies agent wants as much money as he can get for his client. Hoyle's played a blinder getting it out in the open and putting the pressure on.
I doubt Smithies himself has been involved much at all, it certainly doesn't mean he wants to leave, or he's demanding more cash himself.
It'll sort itself out at the end of the season if not before. Until then lets enjoy having this very talented kid playing in our goals. If he goes on to play for England, then we'll be very proud that he started here, even if he only played for us for half a season.

Until then lets enjoy having this very talented kid playing in our goals. If he goes on to play for England, then we'll be very proud that he started here, even if he only played for us for half a season. I'd agree with that. This time last season, there was the debate over the glennon contract with the two younger keepers. Imo we got it right by offering glennon a new contract (he's done little wrong this year). The problem was having three keepers and keeping them all happy. I suggested that smithies despite being a year younger than eastwood was clearly ahead of him - greater potential etc and would benefit from being number 2 whilst eastwood went out on loan. There were some wanting rid of glennon with the two rookies, but the extra competition/experience with glennon was always going to be a good thing imo. Of course stan's answer was as clueless as ever - correct with glennon but wanted a 4th keeper - a trial for gerrard! The point I'm making is that all the talk has been about glennon/smithies this season and rightly so. Smithies is without doubt going to go to the top. He has something about him which I haven't seen in a gk at town since perhaps harper and joe hart from an opposing point of view. But its also very unusual for a gk to break into the team at 18 - its hard to remember he is only 18! But we also have eastwood - who, at a year older than smthies, isn't as highly rated as smithies, but is still highly rated. He's had england experience himself and only 19 as well. This experience for woking will hold him in very good stead. Should we lose smithies, who will go to the top, there is nothing to say eatswood can't make it here and be a decent championship level player - who knows!

Remember agents get 10% of any fee recieved for a player, so of course his agent is going try get Smithies to leave for as much money as possible.
Agents are scum in Football, they only give a shit about getting as much money as they can for a player so they get a bigger cut of it, I doubt Smithies agent gives a shit where he plays TBH, he'll try sell him to the team who offers the mosy cash, wether it is in Smithies best intrests or not.

I honestly don't think he's as good as some of us think. If we get offered anything over 700k Id sell him with all the normal add ons. Like Aaron said, if any scouts were there today they've probably lost their interest cos he was very poor. If the lads going to f*ck us about, or let his agent f*ck us about ,then let him go, hes not that special.

Not been funny but this lad has been in goal for about a month. If he thinks he can go and play for one of the big boys just stick him back in the reserves. He's a good prospect but not really any better than Glennon at the moment. He won't be the first 18-year-old to get ideas above his station when an agent promises him the earth. If he takes it good luck, he'll sit on the bench for the next five years in a lower-prem side just like Alnwick at Spurs. If he'd have played for us for three years and been off that is one thing but this lad is not the new Chelsea keeper. That said if the lad just wants a decent wage then that's a different matter!

deano is a clever man. all he has done is put the pressure on interested clubs to come up with firm offers before next weekend. Think about it, if Chelsea , everton etc.. are all interested, do they want a bidding war in the summer? or would they preffer to buy now when they can.
i think there will be a large bid on the tble this week, and allowed to stay on loan till the end of the season.
but i agree the Agents are scum. low life twats

Smithies is like most footballers, they are incapable of thinking for themselves. That is why they employ agents. The agents are only interested in what they can get out of the deal, the footballer to them is just a means of getting as much for themselves as possible, they are just parasites bleeding the game.

And why did he hoof the ball to the other end of the pitch when Leicester scored their winners. He also hoofed it against Swindon into the crowd didn't he?
Mardy little git.
Seriously though, he's got potential but he ain't good enough to play in the Prem yet, still makes quite a lot of blunders.
I remember Lee Martin bursting onto the scene in a similair manner, but he never really went on to pull up too many trees did he?
