Don't know if this question has ever been asked on here before (i'm sure it has) but I'm bored and thought this might bring up some interesting stories. What was the first ever football match you went to? The first match I went to, shamefully, was Leeds v's Middlesbrough. I went with a mate from school when I was about 6 and I think Leeds won 3-0. I remember they scored in the last minute cos we missed it as we went to beat the traffic. I also remember I didn't celebrate one goal and was bored for the majority of the 88 minutes I saw. Not just saying that because it was Leeds but I didn't really know or care what was happening on the pitch and what I was supposed to do. As soon as my Dad found out I'd been to Elland Road he dragged me straight down to Leeds Road the very next week, stood me on the terrace and said "this is who you support!" I think we played Fulham in a night match and won 1-0 and I absolutely loved it. I was crammed in amongst loads of people pushing and shoving me shouting loads of abuse at the players and when we scored everybody around me just went crazy. Straight after the game I wanted the shirt, the , the wallpaper, the programmes and anything and everything to do with them. Never looked back since

2-1 win at Rochdale in 1991, when I was 9. I grew up in Rochdale, but my Dad's a Town fan so we were in the away end. I seem to remember going into the match not minding who won, but once Town came back from a goal down to win 2-1, and all the Town fans were going mental on the terrace I was hooked.
Thank god we did come back to win, else I could be a Rochdale fan now.

Town vs Blackpool, last ever game at Leeds Road I think this was my first too, but I'm not 100%. It's either this or a game against Bournemouth in 94/95.

Town 4 - 1 Reading 1979 ish
Steve De'ath (keeper) dropped a Dave Cowling cross into his net with the sun, full in his eyes
Remember being completely amazed at the £100,000 we spent on Tracey Austin 1980 sometime, my uncle took me in to the match 10 minutes from time when the gates used to open.
As other people have said - loved it from the first second, neve looked back, and probably realise that this game will kill me, as I get so nervous at games (which are important )and my heart beats like a maniac. (God know how I ever survived the Mansfield penalties !!!

Town 4 Bolton 0 - September 1990.
Iwan Roberts scored his first Town goal, Keith Edwards scored a hat trick, a certain Peter Jackson made his debut and a couple of players got sent off.
Shame the next 19 years didn't live up to my expectations after that game.

7-0 victory over Lincoln United in the FA Cup, in the 1991/92 season. I was 18 months old, and don't remember a thing!
I don't remember the exact game but I do still have images/memories of the Cowshed.
I never got "hooked" as such, it's always been in my blood.

I had been to many games before, but the first game I can really remember was beating Watford when we went up as 2nd division champions. I was 9 and the first time I had been allowed to go in The Cowshed by myself. Trevor Cherry and the boys brought the trophy round the pitch after the game. We won the first two games of the following season and headed the 1st division, above Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal etc etc. We then went to Anfield and played infront of 52,000+. My feet didn't touch the floor for the whole 90 mins it was so packed. It was the first time I had been on a train. Cleckheaton had it's own station then (2 in fact).

I remeber the rumour going around at the time that the Pompey game was going to be on MOTD - this was based on the fact that Multi Coloured Swap Shop was on in Halifax that morning!!! Never happened in the end though

Town vs Blackpool, last ever game at Leeds Road You and me both mate. Can't remember much about it like. Only vivid memory of the place was seeing our fans invade the pitch at the end. But at least I had the chance to visit the old Leeds Road ground before demolition.

It was at the Shay, probably about 1974. I can't even remember who was playing but it was probably Halifax 'v' Town.
