I'm not sure of my first match 'cos my parents started taking me to Leeds Road when I was a baby.
My earliest memory is at Leeds Road. There was a huge blue and white flag been passed over our heads and I couldn't reach it despite my mum holding me up... Was gutted.

Don't know if this question has ever been asked on here before (i'm sure it has) but I'm bored and thought this might bring up some interesting stories. What was the first ever football match you went to? The first match I went to, shamefully, was Leeds v's Middlesbrough. I went with a mate from school when I was about 6 and I think Leeds won 3-0. I remember they scored in the last minute cos we missed it as we went to beat the traffic. I also remember I didn't celebrate one goal and was bored for the majority of the 88 minutes I saw. Not just saying that because it was Leeds but I didn't really know or care what was happening on the pitch and what I was supposed to do. You must be on about 92/93 when we were reigning champions, remember it well. My first game was v Liverpool at Elland road in 78/79, I was stood in the Liverpool fans on the Lowfields with my scouse supporting uncle (had my Leeds sweatbands on under my sleeves though and the main things I remember were my uncle covering me up to dodge the missiles (I remember seeing snooker balls, batteries etc) that were raining over from the Leeds fans to our right, and being in awe of the Gelderd and thinking that is where I wanted to be. So my first tastes of Elland road and Leeds United were from the perspective of an 'away' fan, it wasn't pleasant but I was hooked by the intensity of it all, it was a cauldron in those days.

Leicester City 1 - Bristol City 1 (20th April 1957) THAT ought to be the furthest from left-field!
First Town game - v - Stoke City (3-0 Town) March 1962 shortly after I moved to Hudds
Remember both quite well

wednesday 29/8/1962 beat walsall 4-0, finished 5th (or 6th) and did double over chelsea that season, obviously when the playing fields were more level, i.e. the game was not influenced by money as much. one memorable game was 3-3 home with stoke, think they went up as champions, stanley matthews nearing the end of his career

Thanks for the memory jog H0L4 as I had forgotten all about those days 'penned' in the Lowfield end. Mine was funnily enough against Liverpool as well back in the 70's and to add to the occasion is that it was a night game, which may explain why I always get a little tinge of extra excitement when Town have a night game. Funny enough that was also the day/night I discovered I needed glasses as when the game was on the far side of the pitch I could see bugger all or the pivotal moment when Martin Buchan missed the penalty You could be right about the intense rivalry and cauldron type atmosphere that hooked me as well. You never got a bigger game at OT than when Liverpool visited. Well almost

All I can remember is my dad took me and we sat almost exactly in the middle of the John Smiths stand. I remember we played Charlton Athletic and it was 2-2. A quick google search and my first game was on the 20th February, 1996 with Boothy and Rowe scoring in front of 10,951 people to send us 4th!
I was 7.
Funnily enough my dad never went again!

mine was the 7-1 thrashing too, thought it was like that every week ;D My first game was the 7-1 home victory over Port Vale also. How Bizarre!?! Bloody hell. Let's start a club!! The first match I can remember was the '79 7-1 drubbing of the Vale too! (I'm told I'd been to an earlier game or two that season, but don't remember them!). I remember getting fed up of having to keep standing up to cheer. I was only 5 at the time, but remember quite a bit about that season, especially the Hartlepool 2-1 win on last day of the season. Looking back, I think that season was a great one to start the love affair. Couldn't have been much better!

Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Newcastle United 27th August 1995.
First Town match was in the 99/00 season. The season we sold Stewart. I can remember Crewe away, Blackburn away and Man City at home from early(ish) that season. I went to a home match early that season which was my first, looking at the fixtures I just can't pick out which. A poor scenario.

August 79, Town 3 Crewe 1 in league Cup 1st leg, they used to start season with a cup tie on a saturday! Less than 3,000 crowd.
Little did i realise at the time but my first season as a Town fan was probably the best so far. Here's to another 30 years of under achievement!

1995 November - lost to Tranmere 5-0 or something daft, then we went on a 21 game unbeaten run, I think.

Middlesbrough at Leeds Road, March 1965. 1-0 to Town. Les Massie header in the 14th minutes at the Dalton Bank end. I remember it as if it was yesterday!
