At Ewood Park on Saturday our last two top scorers go head to head but who would you prefer to be in the Town eleven? on the face of it £8million Jordan Rhodes or £600k James Vaughan there's only going to one winner but I'd say its much closer than that,
Vaughan; pros. Hard working, wears his heart on his sleeve, knows where the back of the net is. cons. Injury prone, yellow card machine.
Rhodes; pros. Has that knack of being in the right place at the right time, cool unflustered finisher. Cons; If he doesn't get the right service he's invisible.

Disregarding all previous attachments with the club and price, then Rhodes above Vaughan. Very rare type of player. But Vaughan is a bloody good replacement!

Jordan's great... but I'd take James Vaughan. More complete player and, just like Jordan, knows where the net is. Does more for the team IMO. If They offered to swap I seriously wouldn't take it.

Some short memories on here. Nobody's dissing Jordan, Darren (terrific player)... just think Vaughan gives us just that little bit more. Valid question posed by the OP.

Rhodes for me I'm afraid. ...goals win games and rhodes will score more than vaughan .

Not even close for me, Vaughan by an absolute mile. Makes a massive contribution even when he doesn't score whereas Rhodes is anonymous.

I prefer JV as a player and how he plays, also cant knock Rhodes, he is destined for the prem and very young still.... good with his head and feet, no pace but very very clinical.... very deceptive, he only needs half a chance, lets hope he gets double tagged on saturday

Genuinely think Rhodes would have struggled to score in that winless run under Grayson, the service was shocking and he does rely on service. However shit Blackburn were last season, they still had quality in midfield and service - we didn't.
Vaughan is the all round striker that so many crave. JV for me.

For the same money it's close. Vaughan is the top striker so far.
I think Rhodes is more the out and out scorer but Vaughan is the more complete player, who also adds to the team.
Vaughan for me. If we could have Rhodes back for £600k, maybe.

For me its like comparing a Ferrari and a Vauxhall at the moment. Hence one has an 8m price tag and other has a 600k. Last season Rhodes had a 63% strike rate to Vaughan on 42% in teams finishing on same points. Overall, Rhodes has a 56% goals to games ratio compared to 27% for Vaughan. Who will come out on top overall career wise, my money would still be on Rhodes as i just think he is a natural born goalscorer and was there a swap at this moment in time i would take Rhodes back in a breath. This doesn't mean i dislike Vaughan, as a Replacement we couldn't have got better especially at the money, but remember replacement is what he is and not an alternative. Saturday will be interesting, top 2 goalscorers in the league going head to head, in teams not dissimilar.

the question is not who is the best but who would you prefer in the Town starting 11 - IMO I would pick JV all the time as he wants to play for the Town and JR doesnt

How do they compare this season?
Their price tags are no reflection of their abilities.
They are both great players but Vaughan is the more complete striker, he has played at the higher level & looks destined to get back there.

I'd rather judge a goal scoring record over seven years rather than seven games to be honest . I agree that Vaughan is a more complete player but goalscorers win football games hence the reason why consistently high goalscorers will always be in demand .. No slight on Vaughan I love him to bits just like all other town fans do

Poles apart on career achievement at the moment. Accurate comparison. If we sell Vaughan or if he is worth 8m in the next 2 years, i will eat a slice of humble pie, but by then Rhodes will be worth 20.

Absolutely no question. James Vaughan. Keep him fit and I truly believe he will score more goals this season, certainly cover more grass, wears the badge with more pride, connects with the fans better. Just read this back and apologies could read as a james vaughan jizz fest....
