Went to a few F1 grand prixs at brands hatch and siverstone back in the 80s and once to Monaco. was really into it back then and could reel off the drivers names even now. But F1 does nothing for me now. Think all the pit stops kills it as much as anything. More often than not its just too much of a procession. And the drivers. All a bit too nice and friendly and characterless. Lads born with a huge silver spoon in their mouths who daddy and his mates have paid to get them a seat.
Think theres far better forms of motorsport than F1.
Its also one of those sports that is VASTLY better on TV than it is live IMO.

All a bit too nice and friendly and characterless. There's actually a good competitive edge to it and some good inter-team rivalries as well as driver rivalries within teams. Some of those can get fractious at times. First and second on the leaderboard both drive for the same team but there's no love lost there, this is quite a common occurance over the years. Plus there's nowt like a good old England v Germany scrap. Russia have a team now and both their drivers took each other out yesterday. No doubt some circuits are more exciting than others and some races have been dull IMO but Canada is right up there with the best circuits, always a cracking race, and yesterday was no exception.

There'll al;ways be spats and fall out cos most drivers are egomaniacs. But just think they're all the same bloke really. Doesn't seem to be any real characters in there anymore, Suppose they're all clones of Schumacher. Don't know whether its too safe now or too serious or what, but its lost something. Its like the first thing that a race winner does is get out of his car and put his peaked cap on so the sponsor gets the maximum exposure on the camaras. Or puts his branded watch on for the same reason. Hunt would spark a fag up, grab a beer and figure out which pit-babe he was going to shag first!

I'm a massive F1 fan, always have been, however even I'll admit that some races over the years have been duller than the dullest dishwater. Not every race will be a classic, and I'm not a fan of some of the changes that have come into the sport in recent years by any means (DRS and carpark runoffs to name just 2, though I could list more), however personally I'd say it's a damn sight more interesting than golf or horse racing for example (though I accept other people prefer other sports to F1, which is fair enough, each to their own).

Strange how the car came back to Nico having dropped off so much. Poor decision not to give him a 5 second penalty though, had they done then he'd have been well back come the end of the race Hamilton is having some rotten luck this season Aye, gutted for Hamilton but the sheer excitement of the race made up a bit for that. Any one of 5 cars could have won it with 5 laps to go. I honestly thought Massa was going to take it from all the way back in 5th as he was running fastest at that point. Strange indeed with the Mercedes losing power - certainly evened it up a bit. Credit to the strides we've made in safety over the last 20 years too for both those lads to walk away from that crash at the end.

Hamilton was quickest and it was raining so they all went back in to the pits
They all came back out at the 2 minute warning and Hamilton was holding Rosberg up and he only managed to get to the start/finish line with half a second to spare
The first two sectors of the track were very wet and no one was even close to beating Hamilton's time. He gave up on his lap and let Rosberg past. Vettel hadn't put a time in at this point and by the middle sector was 3 seconds down on Hamilton's time. He then found 6 seconds in the final sector because it was that much drier up that end of the track and went in to pole. Then Rosberg came through another 1.5 seconds quicker. Hamilton finished something like 4 seconds off pole

About time he had some luck and Rosberg didn't
Did have to laugh at the massive cheers when Rosberg parked up on the grass

One of my best mates used to race with David Coulthard in karts, represented Great Britain together as Juniors. The reason you make it to the pinnacle of motorosport is because Daddy pays.

WHAT A GRAND PRIX!!!
Lewis Hamilton takes third place from a pit start; if the England footballers had shown an ounce of the bottle, determination and spirit of this lad we'd be world beaters.
His management team telling him to let Rosberg pass ..... FUCK YOU!
Thou shall not pass!!! Gandalf would have been proud.

It was a belter, had everything Hamilton and Alonso did brilliantly to nurse those tires to the end, theyd completely dropped off That overtake from Hamilton on JEV took some serious balls, and then he went and pitted anyway
