£1m + Majewski & Forest you have a deal! Watched him last night vs Millers. Some nice touches & creative passing. Links Mid/Attack well. That's just what we need imo.. He would be great helping bring Holmes on in his fledgling career aswell.

He would be great helping bring Holmes on in his fledgling career aswell. I predict that this will be Duane's breakthrough season. He's good enough and given a run of games will shine. If Mark wont give him a start he needs League 1 football with a good passing team like MK.

Without scrolling through the rest of the thread: is there only me who thinks he might be staying? No announcement yet on club captain. Vaughan too injury prone, can't give it Smithies if we're to believe Murphy is serious competition, who does that leave? Clayton, three-year contract and captaincy. Sorted.

Transfer finally looks to be happening, long drawn out transfer even for us, 1.5-2 million fee, medical today Fair enough if you've met our valuation. As long as we reinvest it we'll be fine. I can't help wondering how you're keeping up this spending though? £14m loss last year, huge wage bill and very similar average attendances to ours. Surely FFP is going to clamp down on teams like you soon? Just shows how stupidly unfair FFP is at the moment. Deano has the money to do it for us but we're sticking to the rules, why is it ok for everyone else not to?

What are we saying then fellas? Good price for us (boro) or for you, or have we met somewhere in the middle?
You don't seem to get much for £1.5m these days so I'll reserve judgement until a fair few games in, although wasn't he your player of the year last season?
We are currently 'just' in the red re summer spending so far. Emnes and juke leaving freed up a bit of cash and Gibbo is pushing the very limits of ffp after a few years of getting our house in order under Mowbray.
Sad to see him go? Happy to replace him with the funds?
All the best for the season chaps.

From what I have heard we are within the fair play rules, dont have a clue how though.
we sold juke and emnes for a combined 4/5 million so that is helping, we signed kike for 3 million and clayton for 2 million, Husband was only 300k and Nsue was free. We will be getting loans from chelsea due to karankas connections with jose but not paying much of the wages.
barnsleydaz I wouldnt say we were robbed, I asked a few weeks ago what people valued him at and most said around 2 million. That sort of money is nothing at all in todays game

Make me laugh you lot on here, Not long ago when Clayton was single handedly saving us from relegation, he was the best thing since sliced bread, now that he looks like leaving, he is now the worst player at the club. Get real, we will always be scrapping in this league, you all seem to think we are a bigger club than we really are when we are constantly fighting relegation. I fear it will happen this season if Clayton goes. (And who would blame him if he did.

Was a massive cause of discontent early season he picked up and was the best of a bad bunch in the second half. Have a feeling the team may be better off in the long run. Hope we replace with an experienced more defense minded midfielder as I think Norwood has the ability to replace Clayton long term if he can become more consistent

That said, I have no bitterness towards boro at all, just the guys that sanction the FFP rules, it seems to be that those who stick to them get punished at the moment and those who don't just get let off.

Whether its a good deal depends on whether we have someone lined up to replace him, because our other midfield options are quite weak. 2 million I think is a good deal, but with 4 days to go to the kick off it's quite worrying.

Maybe we can use the money to send some clown out to China to secure some sort of Noodle partnership which will be great for the club in the long run.
Or a new 13yr old Norwegian who's gonna be good enough for Barnet in 10 years time.
Fuck sake.

Well I like our side of the business bought for 350k and utilised him for 2 years of a 3 year contract and sold for 1.5-2M for one of the least athletic midfielders I've seen for some time he only flourished in a 3 man midfield as we were unable to find a suitable partner for a 2 man CM despite having several candidates including Jonathon (I can run all day) Hogg. He is excellent with the ball at his feet and undoubtably talented but to be value for you only time will tell. I would have been disappointed with his contribution for us if he had cost 1.5-2M but at 350k we did excellent business on that day and this if the move is confirmed.

Surprisingly our wage bill wont actually be that high, a few years ago I think it was the highest in the league, we had scott mcdonald on 30k lol. We have got rid of all these high earners now, it will still be high but probably not in breach of ffp. Saying that if we dont get promoted this year we will be in trouble

Or maybe we could just use a few hundred grand of it to buy a young championship midfielder with a point to prove , develop him and sell him a couple of years later for five times the fee we paid ....any recent examples ?

Bigger loss for Town than gain for Boro me thinks.
Would expect fee to be swallowed up in keeping the club ticking over, and a freebie coming in to replace him (thats if we dont think we've already replaced him with Majewski).

Good value for Boro if they have bought him with the dosh from selling Jukavich (you know who I mean).

Seems like a reasonable enough response, cheers for that. Well be utilising him in a deeper two man central midfield in a 4-2-3-1 formation, the same as Chelsea play (suprise suprise ;-)) so hopefully he can be the sort of player who helps leadbitter keeping us ticking over.

he desperately wants to play in the premier league??
going to boro?
bit like me desperately wanting to go to London and catching a train for Glasgow?
be honest, he just wants to earn a few quid more..
fine, he is simply an employee and can be replaced. At the very least it will stop Robins playing him and Norwood side by side and then wondering why neither get forward or back very much..
