Bench warming all night again last night.
Can't see the point of him being there, but what do I know? Saves us a few bob off the wage bill before he goes on a free to Halifax?

been looking at what Bury fans think of him and 90% of them like him and rate him so guessing it's the manager that doesn't rate him or maybe he just doesnt fit into their formation? he is good enough, asked a Bury fan what he thought of him and he said a lot of fans get excited when he's coming on because he attacks and makes stuff happen.

Good job Arsenal's one time record goalscorer Ian Wright wasn't completely written off as a young man. He was 22 before he joined Crystal Palace (his first professional club).

You'd have to admit 1) It doesn't look good if the lad can't get off bench at Bury and .....................2) I was right all along about Hoggy!!

Perhaps bench-warming for Bury... yes Bury, might do him some good if some of the stories on DATM are correct.

let Mark Lillis get a hold of the lad. He needs what Shaun Scannell needed.... He could be a right player .. he just needs to believe in himself.

Powell may be the role model that he needs, If not he will be another added to the list of town failures.......... Id say he is in last chance saloon, even Danny Carr shone in division 2.

He has done more than enough in 15 minute spells to show he has the ability to do it at c`ship level. He needs game time to improve his stamina and to enable him to effect games for longer. ridiculous to write him off.

has been recalled today just confirmed by official twitter account Good. What a fkn waste of time that was. It might make him realise how lucky he is to be at a championship club and not to take it for granted, make him push on a bit more. Can't see him getting in the current squad on a match day so he will have to do with the u21's for now (unless he impresses the management. Bunn/Scannell come to mind)

So turned out to be a bad move for all Holmes, Town and Bury. His development is at a stand still which is frustrating considering his potential. So why was he not getting played at Bury? His attitude? Didn't fit into Bury's system? Or just simply not that good enough at that level yet?

Could have been considered a luxury player, its a poor league and he could be a passenger in most of the games because the style of play in the division doesn't match his style (hoof ball) Who ever made the call to bring in back was the correct one anyway

A good footballer will adapt. I think we give the lad too many excuses. He clearly isn't impressing and needs to up his game. He was overrated here when he first stepped into the team and showed promise. Hasn't showed a huge deal to suggest he's capable of making it. Looks like a handy player and I love his style of play, but he has a lot of work to do if he wants to make it in this division.

Surely the lad himself must be very concerned as to why this keeps happening. If not, why not? If he doesn't respond accordingly and sort things out then I fear the worst for him.

Using the logic of him not being picked is a waste for both clubs, would this not apply to us, Forest and RadMaj?. He doesn't even make the bench some games

When I saw Bury at AFC Wimbledon a few weeks ago Holmes's body language was not good, as I mentioned on this thread at the time (page 5). When I was up for the Blackpool game recently the guy who I sit next to in the Riverside Lower said he uses the gym at Canalside and he's found Holmes to be, shall we say "unpleasant", whenever he's come across him. No idea if this is true, but it makes you wonder about his attitude............

It is sad when we have some youngsters doing their best to break through and for whatever reason he doesn`t seem to grasp that this was another chance to show us what he could do.After saying that I ask is he injured and thats why he has been recalled?

Be interesting now to see how he is managed by Powell who seems to have a great way with players.

It's not a positive for his readiness, whatever way you look at it.
Hopefully he's still learnt some new things and 'if' he did have any false expectations this and Yeovil may be a wake up call.
I'm ready for some stick from some posters I respect, but I really think some time focusing on his core strength (and that doesn't mean filling him with Guiness and getting him doing bench presses!) would be my priority.
Before anyone mentions other young players, Holmes has not developed physically, not even compared to Wilshire in his Bolton days.
