Since we're playing Ipswich...
Two ridiculous transfers by the selling club. One cost Town dearly and the other benefitted us hugely.
If we could re-sign the Stewart of 1999 or the Rhodes of 2012, which one would you choose?

Stewey easily as he was fantastic to watch, but rhodes did a lot more for us

Stewart, because he actually wanted to play for us.

Stewart, I think, the more complete player. But imagine them as a pairing!

Ditto - Stewart, just as good a finisher but contributed much more, my pairing would be alongside Frank.

Stewart, because he actually wanted to play for us. So did rhodes. He was offered obscene money so accepted.

Stewart was the better all round player for me.

Rhodes. Had more of an all round game than people give him credit for and so, so prolific.

I think to make a fullproof decision I would've liked to have seen JR play a full season for us in the championship. Both superb natural finishers but Stewie played in a very decent 2nd team and Rhodes a not that good 3rd tier one.
Probably my two favourite players, guys that delivered and were unplayable on their day.
The hatred and criticism of Rhodes is silly & unjust imo.

Anyone who wears a sweat band is a hero.
Stewart is the best Town player in my lifetime. Rhodes has added more to his game at Blackburn but still comes up a tad short

still love Rhodes but Stewart had that bit of magic which makes it him for me. Yes he was special. Was he the leading English goalscorer in the Premiership one season? Scored a few goals in Europe for them as well. There were some, touting him for an England call-up, but I think lack of pace put paid to that. Never stopped Sheringham though did it?

Stewart was so good that he could make Clyde Winjhard appear to be a footballer.

Rhodes has a much better goal scoring record, since that's the strikers job it has to be Rhodes for me

Very difficult to split them IMO. Both great players, I don't see any obvious difference between them in terms of quality. I'd probably re-sign Rhodes because hed be the younger of the two in those respective seasons. Think Rhodes will go on to have a much better career than Stewy did.

Yeah the season after he left us he was the top english scorer (and got more than Henry and Viduka) in the Premier League when they finished 5th just 4 points behind 2nd placed Arsenal. He was unlucky he was around when he was in terms of an England call up when there was the likes of Owen, Sheringham, Fowler, Heskey, Phillips and Cole about but I was convinced at the time he'd get called up.

Stewart comes out on top. Unsurprisingly.
Rose tinted glasses.
It's a bit like when Wednesday fans try to say Waddle was better than Beckham.

Only one choice. Has to be Stewart. Just as good at scoring and a real team player, with ability. Rhodes never my favourite (cue derision......) If he's so good, why has no Premiership team bought him?

As good as Stewart was, it'd be Rhodes for me. Best finisher in my 47 years watching Town and its goals that win games.
