give the lad a chance. offer him another year and make him the center of our midfield set up. the lad has talent, can he stay injury free?

Be a shame to see him leave, can only assume he's wanting too much as Powell seemed open to keeping him on.

Speaking to a player at the awards do, I got the impression that Gobern had felt under appreciated and this sudden surge of praise was 'too little too late'. Works both ways, of course.
So I don't think it's about money..

Not really surprising. But I do think we'll regret not giving him more of a chance. (though in our defence he's had a lot of injuries)
Oozes class IMO...his problem is he looks like one of those 17 year olds that burst on the scene looking quality...very raw and inexperienced but you have time to work on that...problem with gobern is he's already 24 years old!

That's what you get bringing in Edgar and playing him in central midfield before giving Oscar a chance. Disgraceful.
Too late.. What a Fxck up

"interest in Bradford City's Billy Knott played down. Chelsea academy product Knott, 22, joined Bradford from Sunderland a year ago" Twenty two....Twenty frigging two?! Look at him; I thought it was a recent picture of a Dean Windass testimonial appearance! I guess that's what living in Bradford does to you...

I scrolled down to see your comment was exactly what i was going to put. What was Dean windass doing in canvey island in 1992??

Jesus Christ he hasn't done bad from the club, he's been a bit of a sick note and been pretty shite for most of his time here but feels under appreciated, I'm speechless and I actually like him! Could just be posturing. We'll see. I hope he stays. Will cost more to get a decent replacement. He hasn't been worth his wage for 3/4 years but he is improving. Injury prone though. Seems a shame to lose him for nothing.

His 'sudden appreciation' has been massively too late, and I completely sympathise with him. We have far too many 'he's shit' fans who polarise quickly based on the expert next to them/bloke in pub. Gobern is quality, has always played positive football for us. one of the best players on our books, if he leaves its to our loss.

Too little too late certainly does work both ways. End of the day hes earned an absolute fortune from this club in 4 years and given the thin end of bollock-all back in return. Consistently not good enough to keep his place when given a chance. Not even fit enough to play over an hour until this late run. So in his final month or two he finally strings some decent performances together that warrant him keeping his place and from that he feels let down by the club?? What a prick.

Bulshit, wasn't played enough because of nervy management style. He's quality.

Sort out the defense first. Gobern in the holding role solidified the defense. We were tough to beat with him playing there. Who plays the holding role now? Hogg is box to box, Coady? Lost his direction to be sure. What is the defense? Is James gone for good? What is Hudson going to offer, one year older? We have enough combinations for every other forward position. Sort out LB, CH and HM.

I would be upset to see him leave as we just seem to be realising his potential . He has been the target for some unfair criticism on here but I am hopeful Powell may be able to persuade him to stay.

I think the only reason he's likely to stay is if no other club is willing to fork out the wages that we are.

So I don't think it's about money.. "under appreciated" likely means he's been offered a reduced term deal. I think we've done this before, when its been decided a certain player is surplus but then they have an upturn in form that means the fans would like to see them stay.

A shame, Good player, but he can fuck off. Really has been a waste of his ability and towns money. Good luck Oscar.

IF this is true it sounds to me like he has been offered better elsewhere and using under appreciation as an excuse. Bit sad really as seems a wasted talent for us and a player who you'd like to see earn the wages they've been paid by signing up on another contract.
