If we don't get 3 points are we having a pitch invasion at our first home game next season?

With the Football League deciding the game would not be replayed, I honestly can't see any other outcome than we be awarded the three points. Imagine the boot on the other foot, would we be surprised if Blackpool were awarded the three points? Would we expect to be awarded any points? I think not. Excellent point that mate & probably the best reason I've seen why a draw should not be the outcome. After 48 minutes, Blackpool didn't actually have anything. If the result is a draw, then they gain something out of it, which can never, ever be right. Case closed! All the Blackpool fans don't care about the points, if anything they'd rather we took all 3 from what I've heard.

We had only earned a single point when the match was abandoned and that is all we should get.
We were up against the team with the worst defensive record in the entire league and if we couldn't score after 48 minutes, what make anyone believe we would have scored in the remaining 42 minutes?
So, since the points were immaterial and did not affect any promotion or relegation issues, the authorities should award Town one point and Blackpool zero points.
Had the outcome involved any of the above issues, then the authorities would a have rightly ordered a replay.

Only slightly relevant, but the son of Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has agreed to pay a fan £20,000 after making a libellous comment about him online. Lord knows what's happening over there at that club! #OystonsOut

We had only earned a single point when the match was abandoned and that is all we should get. Your single point theory; 1. Goes against UEFA rulings 2. Sets a dangerous precedent for future incidents of this nature.

The whole point is that we were denied the opportunity to gain three points, which is unfair. This was due to the actions of the Blackpool fans, so there is an argument to suggest that their club should be punished (failure to control their fans) and for not allowing us to complete 90 minutes of football in which we may have scored and won. The punishment could be a 3-0 defeat. "So, since the points were immaterial and did not affect any promotion or relegation issues, the authorities should award Town one point and Blackpool zero points."If the points are immaterial then why should we get 1 point and Blackpool zero? What sense does that make? We hadn't "earned" anything at the moment of abandonment - the match had not finished.

so teams that haven't scored after 48 minutes won't score after 90 minutes ?!

No it doesn't if there was anything resting on the game it would be replayed, that's the precedent.

Sets a dangerous precedent for future incidents of this nature. Point 2 is the most important here, and really should be the ONLY point that the FL should be looking at. If they award both teams a point imagine this scenario next season - Leeds are in the relegation zone and it's the last game of the season. They need 1 point to avoid the drop so after 10 minutes all the fans at Elland Road storm the pitch and refuse to leave. Straight away the FL are in a situation because Leeds could use our game as a previous case to force the same ruling. It's that simple. I don't understand why it's taken them so long.

There's zero chance that the outcome of this will set some sort of precedent
First, when have the FA ever been consistent?
Plus they clearly will handle it differently if there's promotion/relegation at stake. Although i agree with the posters saying there's no meaningless games, this was as close as it gets.

Yeah I think your right there pal, might be a case of them announcing today that the result stands and Blackpools punishment will be announced in forthcoming weeks or summat daft! The fools at the top of the football league haven't got a clue so expect them to announce anything!

The punishment for Blackpool is being dealt with by the FA, not the FL. The only thing the FL will be deciding and announcing today is the result and allocation of any points. The FA will deal with anything else, be it fines, forcing refunds, behind closed doors games etc.

I'll bite once again WUM The relegated Championship clubs were Millwall, Wigan and Blackpool. We beat Millwall and Wigan away, we were drawing at both these sides after 48 mins. So there's why some might just believe we would have won if given the opportunity to play for the full 90 mins. We were denied that opportunity through no fault of our cluba nd its spectators

One option could be we get one point and Blackpool get none, but that too could be used in future for teams where that could benefit the perpetrator .

Had there been anything at stake, then a replay would have been ordered.
So stop moaning about an additional couple of points which would have been worth f--k all to Town, unless you're another of these blinkered fans who haven't slept a wink since, worrying that we would have ended up above our rivals down the road.
