The one he denied the deadliest striker in Scotland a walk through tap in. Not sure Smithies would have saved that one - probably go down too early. Saved a certain goal - miracle. Blimey, run of the mill saves are miracles ! Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards You have high standards. Any keeper that saves a certain goal has done good for me. I liked Smithies. Got memories of some great keeping, great saves and that great occasion and balls he showed at Wembley. He's far from irreplaceable though.

QPR put in an offer for a player. This includes an increase in salary for the player. Club think offer is acceptable and advise player/agent. They are given time to consider. He can accept and leave or decide to stay. Absolutely no pushing him out of the door. How little you know regarding this story, you are not going to stay were u r not wanted. Alex had a new baby a local lad the last thing he wanted was to leave. He had a conversation with Powell and he told him it's come from the top and its out of his hands. Watch and see All transfers, buying and selling, 'come from the top'. Powell would be consulted but ultimately the final decision is with the Board. If Smithies does not think the new contract is high enough he is not compelled to move. It would seem an ideal time to move if he wants a new start with his family. Powell would rather Smithies stayed as he clearly thinks he is his number one keeper. If he stays he will be played. Are you suggested Dean Hoyle would hold a grudge against a player who he likes and admires?

Seems easy to throw the Leeds fan stuff at him (never happened with folk hero Fisher, who bloody was and is) Chapman came from managing Leeds too.

If/when Smithies goes I will be gutted. Without a doubt one of our most underrated players and a local Lad to boot.
Losing him seems to have a deeper significance than it seems

I will be disappointed to see him leave but as long as we spend a good chunk of the money shoring up the defense I won't complain.

If he goes because he wants to go then so be it ,not the end of the world, if however he is being pushed out then that is really poor.

Well he came out and blocked a shot 5 yards off his goal line. Good keeping, certainly. A 'miracle save' you wouldn't expect smithies to make - are you having a laugh??

Why would you care if smithies gets sold Bick? You said he was shite. He has faults but ten times better than Murphys stout. Also he's been pushed out, don't like that.

I agree but wouldn't it make it very uncomfortable if you felt that your club wanted you to go? Sometimes your decision is as good as made for you by others.

Not happy to see smithies go at all. Hes one of our best players and Town through and through. but if we stick with murphy ( whos not as good as smithies but ok ) and use the money to strengthen other key areas we're weaker in ( centre back ) then overall it might improve the team as a whole even if it weakens the goalkeeper position a bit.
If he goes, what happens with the money will go a long way to say what's possibly going to go on off the pitch at the club maybe?

Bullock another attention seeking response, with little or no evidence yet to back up your statements other than hearsay? Anyway if Alex goes I feel we will be relaxing him with someone less able but perfectly acceptable and if we reinvest the money in areas where we have less strength in depth then surely that's a good bit of business - we will see soon enough

He's been pushed out, disgrace. What is this 'pushed out' nonsense? How does that work then? If you are on a long contract and want to stay you just say "I'm fine where I am, thanks.' End of story. If he goes, he wants to go. And if he goes, having just had a new baby, then he definitely wants to go!

He's been pushed out, disgrace. You need to calm your tits down. He's getting a big pay rise, joining a club that may get to the Premiership, and he's going to be able to challenge himself and see if he can do it at a better level - so I have no issue with him leaving. I'm sure he's wrangled with the decision but I doubt the club have put cones in front of his parking spot and told him to stay away. He's been forced out - have a word with yourself.

He's been here since he was 8 or 9 years old, any player that has got to the stage he has might be wondering if there are other places he could go for a change of scenery/better wages etc. Players staying at one club all their lives are like hen's teeth these days.

Like Smithies, hope he stays. If he goes though, I'll not lose any sleep. Murphy's fine. Hopefully use money for a right back/centre back. That would make sense and be filed under 'Team strengthening'. No need to panic.

Exactly, said the same all bloody day lol.if he goes it will be cos he wants to top up his wage packet as no way will he play first team, its his choice no one else's, sure the club may have accepted a bid,but ultimately its down to the kid himself.... Even after we accepted 8mill off blackburn for rhodes, hoyle still told rhodes to turn them down, he isn't being forced out,its a simple case of someone meeting a players perceived value.
