Just out of interest.... how many games in the last 2 years has Vaughan played vs say..... lynch and hogg. Or ... How many FULL games has he played, as opposed to the last 15/20 minutes or the first 20? There's the rub ...

I reckon hogg and lynch quietly miss alot of games as well, yet fall under the radar.
I'm still suprised that Deano came out with his statement in public. Surely just telling Vaughan and his agent would have been enough to generate some interest and maybe a fee.
Hamill needs to go as well if he's not gonna play. He will be on a decent wage.

DH occasionally seems a little too candid, but I'm sure the conversation with Vaughan has already happened, i.e. what he said on Tues will have made diddly squat difference.
Would be daft to cancel his contract, but if he does go, that enables us to go out and get a new first choice striker/partner for Wells.

I don't think Deans comment was aimed specifically at Vaughan, or Gobern for that matter. It was a general shot across the bows of, if you join my club then I expect you to earn my hard earned brass by actually doing what you're paid to do - ie play. I think there are many others such as the likes of Lynch, Hogg, Lolley who are also on the "to be watched list". I mean common, we have specialist software that can track how far a player runs during a game, I'm pretty sure they can work out players % of game started. And to be fair, I agree with DH on this one. We don't tolerate this level of absenteeism in any other job, no matter how good the person was/is.

John Haselden and Mick would have sorted Vaughan out. Magic sponge and shuttle runs up and down the terrace. He would soon play if he was only paid on appearances. Bet he was Fit enough to go on holiday.. Congrats on a really fucking stupid post. agree that has to be the most stupid post so far

Rumours that Wigan are after him, but Powell did say somewhere (website/Examiner) that there's no problem with him and that he could still have a part to play. My guess is though that he'll be gone if he gets the chance.

It will be better all round when he goes, the club don't want him. He's on the biggest wages so frees up enough for two players IMO.

Know some clubs are desperate but massive risk taking on Vaughans wages for any length of time, trouble in part had been partly down to Vaughans total lack of commitment to any Town Foundation and Community functions, just heads straight back to Liverpool after traning and matches.

One of Powell's post match interviews/reports said he was off looking at other options. Don't think he did actually say that, but I could be wrong ... ... this is what he actually said: “Everyone knows about James’ situation and something may be on the horizon for him, although we don’t know with a few days left. I’ve spoken to James and we’re fine about things moving forward; there are no problems, although he clearly feels his future is away from here. That’s the way it is and I have to look at my squad moving forward.” Read more at www.htafc.com/news/article/huddersfield-town-chris-powell-queens-park-rangers-2656222.aspx#DXJqDsLxcokEEd2m.99Which is all a bit strange when you think about it?

Sorry guys, but in my world, a player contracted to play football (and allegedly paid nearly £800,000 per annum, to boot) should be playing for his damn club! Or, more to the point, OUR damn club!! If I want to go for an interview I have to take a day off work - how come we can blithely let him off on a jaunt to watch a new employers' team play on a saturday afternoon. Unless we are really THAT desperate to get shot of him?
None of the above previous pots suggests to me that there is a good reason, from official sources, for Vaughan's abscence.
Sorry guys, I clearly just don't get it?!!

You can't blame him though for looking elsewhere when he's been given his notice.

Its not really that strange when the club have already told him that they definitely wont be offering him a contract extension and that he is free to start finding another club.

Not disputing any of what Powell said, but that didn't actually say that rather than being on the bench he was actually at another club for discussions. We all knew/know that he was/is actively seeking a way out, but I don't think he was doing that between 3:00 and 5:00 on Saturday; he was just 'dropped', probably considered to be "in the wrong frame of mind". Or, at least, that was my interpretation of it; semantics, I know ...

Again, in MY world, it IS possible to discuss issues like this, in a socratic way, if you like - all I was doing was to ponder why Vaughan wasn't playing and to see whether anyone else had any reason why our top forward (evidently) was not playing on saturday, because I could see no valid reason for his absence. Either he was not selected because he is no better than Miller (WHAT?!!) or he was injured (again!) or he declined to play (which is a disgrace, in my opinion).
