official? does he have his own ? He seems to have his own 'Let's Blame Davidson For Everything' club. He wasn't great and some criticism is justified, but got a agree. People don't seem to take play back to say Lynch being out of position, or Whitehead playing a dodgy pass across the back, but shoehorn Davidson being the prime culprit for any goal they can. I can't quite recall what happened, but wasn't Davidson attacking for the first, so was he necessarily out of position? Was it someone else's cock up that screwed him over? For the second it was certainly more Whitehead and Bunn at fault. To be honest, I didn't see the foul for the third, so can't comment. As an aside, we looked less organised today. Maybe Hudson does more than we realise.

I try to be balanced if I can, but having seen Davidson alot, it's clear he's a weak link that needs replacing. This

When you see the first goal again you will see that his missed tackle allows Ameobi a free run at Lynch. As said before the guy is a weak link

Davidson is the official scapegoat now then? So you thought he had a cracker? I'd stopped worrying about the left side with Chilwell, but Davidson has few redeeming features. We might survive with this current back four but I think if we want to get up the table we have to start winning these games which we are currently losing by the odd goal. Of the current 4/5 we are using only Lynch is up to scratch - and he can be very flaky at times as well. Surely its the main priority of DW/DH to get our defence sorted out. We scored two lovely goals today but that good stuff is floundering on our defence. It was a question, hence the question mark.

Maybe Hudson does more than we realise. Think you make a good point on Hudson. Davidson certainly played his part in the first two. For the first he lunged in and got nowhere near man or ball, but that was on half way, he can't be held responsible for Whittingham being unmarked in the area. The second he was one of at least four who had a nightmare. No that that is reflected in most posts.

I don't blame him for the 2nd at all. It was whitehead who caused the goal with a lousy pass across the back line when he should have cleared it. It worries me when I hear wagner saying he doesn't think all this over-playing around our box is a problem. It keeps costing us. Im not suggesting we just lump it forward but our players have to learn when a pass is too risky to make and will only put the receiving player in trouble. Other teams have sussed that we do this and have started to take advantage.
I don't blame Davidson- I just don't think hes very good and we need a better player in that position.
Don't think we missed Hudson at all, in fact IMO our 2 best players on the day were Lynch and Cranie.

It's a massive part of our new style, and helps bringing the opposition midfield out of position, higher up the field than they'd want to be. This should continue to leave gaps for Lolley, Paterson, Bunn etc to exploit. Yes, when Hogg/Whitehead make a bad pass it's easy to say "stop pissing around with it and get rid", but it's benefits largely go unnoticed in the other games. Despite conceding 3 I thought Lynch/Cranie looked a good partnership. Both good on the ball too.

How the hell is this player an international? He would not make Almondbury United's 1st team, utter garbage, get rid quickly!

Really? Thought Cranie had a cracking game. Assured and comfortable in possession, snuffed out a lot of their attacks, had a lot of the ball but only remembering him giving it away the once. Just looks so much better all round than Hudson IMO. Lynch though was immense. Bit of madness when he should have been sent off but I guess he does have that in him still. Seems strange to think our two centre backs were our two best players on a day we conceded 3, but IMO they were and neither deserved to be on the losing side.
69- Im not saying I don't want us to pass it around at the back and build from there. I just think sometimes we overdo it. Its when we pass it to a player who is already being closed down , putting him and us in real trouble. Thats what Whitehead did to Davidson for their second. Steer is guilty of it a lot too.

Agree with pretty much every sentence if that Cap'n - Lynch and Crainie definitely our top two today.

It's done hoping that the opponent will make mistakes at the back. Davidson is not a scapegoat, he is a very poor defender.

The problem with the system Town are playing is that it highlights the players who are comfortable with the ball at there feet. The players who can have receive the ball, looked around and pass it to a team mate. 4 in particular don't, or are not good enough to do this, Davidson, Smith, Bunn and Hogg. If your defensive players aren't able to play the system, mistakes are inevitable, resulting in goals conceded.

Yes he did have a shocker and he does dive in like a pub footballer too often for my liking, but as others have pointed out, that doesn't excuse the shoddy defending that seems to follow his mistakes. Take a look at the highlights, first goal and watch Dempsey. Gets pulled into the middle, ball watches the whole time, never once looked round to see where his man was. Unfortunately he was stood behind him waiting for the cross. Schoolboy defending. Second goal, when the ball finally comes across there are 2 Cardiff players at the far post but no Dempsey to be seen. He arrives in shot just in time to join the Cardiff celebrations. Don't want to be too hard on the lad because he's not a full back, but I think he sneaked under the " blame radar" today only because Davidson was so poor.

Exactly, the marking was appalling for both those goals. You can't just blame Dempsey though, he couldn't have marked two players on his own! Work to do on the training pitch defending these situations. It's been a common theme in a lot of the goals conceded recently. Missed Hudson too even though crainie did ok. We need a new left back, that isn't news, he'll never be good enough fit the championship. Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

Not his finest match but to lay the blame at the door of Him and one Player is well, neither fair or an accurate assesment of why we lost.

I think his header back to steer outside of the area when steer had to head it away summed Davidson up.

Am not one to jump on a players back or write em off too soon,
But, Davidson aint much kop imo.
Not comfortable on the ball, Lacks pace, Not great at defending, Not too good in attack and must be the only Aussie I know who lacks aggression and snap in the tackle.
After 6 months am now under the impression that JD has been a very lucky lad to make it as a pro footballer.

I said to our lass straight after their 2nd that Whitehead played a pass that put both Davidson and Bunn into trouble. Both Lynch and Crainie were excellent yesterday, my only criticism of Lynch was a captain he should have lead by example and his petulance going in on their keeper could have really cost us. Crainie was superb, I loved the Cryuff turn he did part way through the second half to completely fool their attacker, it's a good job it came off though. The weak links for me yesterday were Dempsey and Davidson, both playing more as wingbacks and not tracking back enough or sensing danger and being in the right place.

They should deal with the situation, either Davidson hits it long into the channel or Bunn controls the ball to him from Davidson instead of a flick/first touch that enables the Cardiff player to gain position in our half and the ret is history

Husband didn't have his greatest game on tues but still should be starting over JD no question.
It's really interesting and absolutely obvious that his teammates don't trust him with the ball. They would rather pass to Steer. At one point in the second half when someone finally passed to him the Kilner cheered..
However credit where credit is due great cross for Dempsey.
