It has got to be Said that our inability to strengthen the defence in January is as baffling as it gets. I don't know what we are playing at but unless we bring in some quality loans we are going down

Awful result today in context
We have a lot of tough home games (in fact I can't think of any winnable home games left). Which means we'll need to get the points to stay up on the road
Also concerning is our form - 4 defeats in a row now - with a barebones squad meaning we have little options to change things up
We desperately need a win now in he next game

Until we actually invest in a defence this will keep happening. Preston had scored 25 goals in 29 games before today and we let them score 2 in the last 10 mins against us after being relatively comfortable all game. If we aren't involved in a relegation fight going in April I will be amazed.

Stats can lie, but Town had twice as much possession and twice as many shots overall and on target as Preston. One a deflection, one off the post for them. The gods have surely got to start smiling on us soon? Clean sheets are becoming as rare as rocking horse sh*t, aren't they. Who's training the defence again?

Shit result against a very poor team. Wagner's substitution of Matt Moore for Lolley allowed PNE to gain the impetus for the last half hour, very much in the Chris Powell mould! Another 3 points down the drain due purely to very poor management. We scored after Matmour came on, you fool. On the other hand, we also conceded two and lost the match after new boys Matmour, Manu and Boyle came on for regulars Patterson, Lolley and Bunn.

Don't like saying it but Boyle's fault that last one, shanked an easy clearance to them and yet crossed it in and scored. Preston were fucking awful too

Defence has been shite for 3 years now. I can't see how three successive managers haven't picked up on it.

We scored after Matmour came on, you fool. I know we did you ass, but even then I saw the defeat coming. Last half hour, after the substitution was all PNE, we scored on the break. In summary, you complete fool, first 60 mins we were comfortable, after substitution we fell apart. The substitution of one winger (who's missed most of the last couple of weeks of training with illness) for another changed the flow of the game? You managed to tell all this from your bedroom listening to the radio? More likely you'd nailed you colours to the mast on Matmour, for some strange reason, and were desperately looking for a reason to scream "I told you so". Stick to bigging up Danny Ward.

I haven't seen us have a solid and confident defence in a LONG time. When your defence is that leaky it really is an uneven playing field. I don't normally bang the investment drum but we really are paying the price for underinvesting here. I think the last time we paid money for a defender was Murray Wallace.Who we have bizarrely sold, when we're already short in his position.
Maybe Wallace coming on instead of Boyle today would have brought a different result? Not really fair on Boyle though to make a first team debut like that.

What is the point of dominating a game yet again but still losing,it's easy to point the finger at the defence but when you don't take your chances you leave yourself open to be punished,we have to sort out the goalscoring problem quickly otherwise we will be dragged back into the mire

Wallace bizarrely sold ? .. I think a better use of the word would be " you're bizarrely still here "

1) Wallace as nowhere near good enough, nothing bizarre about moving him on. 2) There is no possible way of knowing if Wallace would have shanked a clearance (anyone who saw him play knows he had it in him), so what's the point in widely speculating. 3) It wasn't Boyle's debut. As well an informed a post as ever.

Another 3 points down the drain due purely to very poor management. Singling out Matmour being part of the reason for our defeat today is poor even by your standards. I can only assume you were there today.

No, I was disagreeing with your initial claim that Matmour's substitution allowed Preston into the game. We scored after he came on and if you're not at the game, I struggle to see how you can confidently make such claims.

Takes us all day to score but teams score quite easily against us.. Defence needs investment, has done for 3 years. Preston scored AFTER Town did. ie it took them all day + a few more minutes, or longer than all day, to 'score quite easily...' *shakes head*
