Three starts and has got better each time... he looked totally hyped up first game which worried me, but since has got better each time. He looks for the ball to play out from the back.
Hudson is great back-up now, but surely the Hef has done enough to get a run in the team... a big Birmingham long ball team and hef and shindler won everything. Such a shame about the set piece again, but we are so short of players that can jump or are tall we will struggle till that is addressed. I hope we can get billing back in the team somewhere. Think he will help at both ends of the pitch.

Ridiculous decision bringing Hudson back after hefele performance against Derby. Wagner's first real mistake this season and we were doomed from minute one at Fulham.
It is blindingly obvious that we look far more solid with Hef playing purely because of his aerial ability- not a strength of Lowe and not Schindler strongest attribute either.
Hef is better on the ball too. I really admired his confidence to keep trying the tricky slide rule pass down the flanks which proved a good outlet for smith and scannel in second half.
Looks a good signing with real potential imo.

Think he will help at both ends of the pitch. It's nothing to do with being short or poor jumping. The problem is they're static, nobody attacks the ball or reacts and acts to the second ball. It's odd, because away from our own box, across the team we are anticipating and reacting miles better than any Town team ever has. Plenty times Brum would play what looked like a simple pass and we'd have a player reading what was happening and just cut it off and start a counter. Brilliant stuff. So why do they switch off so dramatically when we're defending a free kick or corner into the box? Grrr,

Hefele's arms worry me. He gets all over the strikers. Whereas Hudson gets nowhere near them, whether you like Hudson or not you surely cannot even begin to suggest he is better than the Heff!! I'm not. I think Hefele is a better player than Hudson, it just annoys me when people blame Hudson for everything even when it has absolutely nothing to do with him. Plus I have no idea what my post has to do with the comment you replied with.

We concede too many daft free kicks, which shindler is guilty of as much as hudson and heff have been.

Schindlers performances have really dipped since PNE, in particular in the air where he's losing a lot of aerial battles at the mo.

Schindler was dreadful in the air and lost the majority of the aerial duals he went up for.

Hopefully that's the end of the discussion. Hefele excellent today and looks better than Schindler to me To quote you, he was "dropped after a clean sheet" so surely he's nailed on to lose his place after we concede one. Some could and would say that Hudson was the unlucky one to be dropped when Schindler and Löwe were far bigger culprits in the heavy defeat at Fulham. Suddenly it now should be the end of the discussion though - How surprising from you Offtopic! Oh come off it for Christ's sake, Yes Schindler had a poor game at Fulham, but over the course of the season Hudson is not fit to lace either Schindler or Hefele's boots, it is painfully obvious they are both far superior players.

Hefele's arms worry me. He gets all over the strikers. Good, make strikers think twice about coming anywhere near him, we need players who will craftily tear a piece off of opposition players.

It's interesting that someone else has spotted that. He seems to be working on a sort of multi limb tackle that's just short of a foul or at least not easy to give. And when he commits forward to tackle they don't seem to roll away with it at all easily. Birmingham had a damn good go at falling over at every opportunity. One of their forwards spent almost the entire match on his arse working a miller like badly done to arms out wide move.

Who was at the heart of our defence when we were however many points clear at the top at the start of the season?.

Who was at the heart of our defence when we were however many points clear at the top at the start of the season?. As much as I have been a defender of Hudson. I believe this fits the definition of Trolling..... The art of deliberately, cleverly, and secretly pissing people off, usually via the internet, using dialogue. Or provocative online posting with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them.

Don't personally think Hudson was to blame at either Fulham or Preston. He wasn't soleley to blame. We were a shambles to a Man at Fulham and the goals weren't all Hudson's Man at Preston. Hudson kops for it if he is on the pitch though. The facts speak for themselves, Hudson was at the heart of our defence when we looked solid at the start of the season. A record breaking start at that. I maintain we look better defensively when he is in the Team. Just my opinion of course.

Two areas where Hudson struggles.
1 - When run at, looks all at sea.
2 - Distribution, too slow and sometimes needs extra touch

'Welcome back Nick!' good to see you posting again. Little tip though, just crack-on posting and don't get drawn in to the 'wheres or whyfors' in relation to your time away. For the record, I and many others agree that reporting you was quite frankly ridiculous. However!, that's done now and like I say just get back to enjoying the forum. Oh and re disagreeing with me, completely fine Nick and I wont be reporting you!. We will just agree to disagree re Hudson who I accept does divide opinion. Facts are facts though re the part he has played in some of the best times we have had in the modern era watching this Club this season (granted, we have had a little dip in form of late).

What about the 2 previous seasons when hudson was at the heart of our defence and we leaked goals all over the place? The defence is conceding goals now because it is weak in the air and vulnerable to high balls , with a keeper who will not come and claim crosses and unlike earlier in the season other sides have realised that. I really don't see how Hudson would improve that. He can't jump.

I also agree re the keeper situation as I have posted in separate threads. I don't agree that Hudson can't jump and believe defensively we are overall stronger with him in the side. I also think he brings more in terms of Leadership overall to the Team as a whole when he is on the pitch than perhaps we all realise.

In my opinion we were a little presumptuous in getting rid of Wallace, may have had issues on the floor as many CB s have but attacked the ball at both ends when it was in the air. Our German CBs are OK on the floor but the perceived continental weakness to high balls seems to have some credence with our continentals, just my opinion.
