Can't believe the ref didn't realise who we are and this was our biggest crowd ever.
Disgraceful not to let us win, and ruined my weekend. He should have allowed us to keep taking corners until we scored.
Thank god we are still unbeaten this millennium.

So excited the morning after that you just couldn't sleep and created an account at 06.30 in the morning! But back to referees. If anyone has the inclination the following by Garciano et al 2001 is worth skimming. I noticed the bit regarding injury time and the fact that referees award much more injury time if the home team is behind. Sort of fits in with the, How much injury time?" claim. linkHere's another, but I'll have to try and get my thinking cap on so I'll have a look at this later - Are football referees really biased and inconsistent? Evidence on the incidence of disciplinary sanction in the English Premier League linkAnd here's another, Evidence for referree bias in football link

Is anybody else up for starting an online petition to the result overturned and the referee banned ?
I've already written a strongly worded letter to the FA voicing my disgust at our defeat.

2 images below. 1st shows how short the distance was, the 2nd shows where it actually hit VLP. His arms are up, yes, but it hits him in front of his chest. I don't understand how this can be called deliberate handball. I certainly don't understand how a linesman who couldn't spot blatant offsides all afternoon could see through 2 bodies for it either. Can a player no longer protect his face from point blank bullet shots to the face?? What strikes me about that top picture is we have 7 players encircling that lad and he still got his shot away. We'd 11 men in our box to their 5...most of them marking fresh air.

Considering Town have committed the least number of fouls of the top 8 (134), why do we have the highest number of yellow cards (28) ? Does this mean we're being victimised or we only foul when we really have to ?
By comparison Wednesday have committed more fouls (140) but only have half the number of yellows (14).. smacks of favouritism, as we have witnessed on Sunday...

Unlike the Wednesday match and Reading away.
Atleast the Ref hasn't influenced the match outcome tonight.

What was with that offside he gave and then let them take the free kick 10 yards in our half? You can't be offside in your own half can you?

One of the worst decisions I think I've seen. It's common knowledge. Yes Kachunga was offside, fare enough. But letting them take the freekick in out half. The mind boggles

He looked about 10 yards inside our half as well when he took it. Terrible decision to allow them to play on.

It's was actually the correct decision. They changed the rules this year. You take the free kick from where the player receives the ball.
So if you're coming back from an offside position, the free kick is taken from where the offside player first touches it.

So why does the linesman still stand in line and point across pitch to where the free kick is to be taken

The free kick is from where the player was deemed to be offside when the bill was passed Sorry, but you are 100% wrong on this. The rule is that if the Lino flags for offside the defending team can either take the kick from where the player was offside or wherever he touched the ball, meaning that he CAN concede the free-kick in his own half. Get used to it - like it or not, it's correct. FA website linkI refer you to FAQ Q3 which reads ... Q3: The Law now says that the IDFK for offside can be taken in the player’s own half but how can this be correct? It is correct because:a player CAN NOT be in an offside POSITION in their own half a player CAN commit an offside OFFENCE in their own half if they go back into their own half from an offside position Read more at www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/laws/football-11-11/law-11---offside.aspx#t15W2jv8CvxI4IUe.99

So technically, an unrealistic situation, but technically if Kachunga had sprinted from that offside position all way into our 18 yard box to pick the ball up, what would happen then? It's an absolutely ridiculous rule to make, why change something that isn't broken?

It seems a very strange rule change, but I guess the law makers need something to fill their time now they don't have to continually check there bank account balances to see if their latest bung has been safely deposited.

You on a WUM his ineptness and cheating set the tone from the off, it was the worst 45mins ive seen from a ref ever - free kick for offside taken in our half ? freekicks given against Town for fook all, despite the set piece defending the ref did have an inluence

To be slightly pedantic re your explanation, the player doesn't need to touch the ball just to attempt to or interfere with an opponent. Plus there appears to be no either / or, the kick is taken where the offence occurs (which is no longer considered to be where he was stood in an offside position). An earlier poster (on this thread) is right the linesman was confusing in that he took up a position about 10 yards inside their half. Surely that position is no longer relevant at all? One query, if an opponent plays the ball does the potential for the first offence disappear? Having learnt this, I'd really like to see the incident again. As my memory differs from the outcome. Was Kachunga really the first to touch it (I thought not)? & did he attempt to play the ball that far forward? Even becoming aware of the change I still think they took the free kick forward of the "offence".
