I think even Southgate would baulk at picking a corpse in defence, but you never know. Died was excellent at Bury before he got his big move to Inter.

I can’t believe I’m doing this but Southgate has been pretty open on how and why we play. We’re set up to play tournament football. Not friendlies and Mickey Mouse leagues where teams play more open and we’re susceptible to some shit results. Tournament football is all about being tight and solid and pinching 1-0 wins which we’ve proven over the last 2 tournaments works. Don’t get me wrong some of his team selections are mystifying at times which is what will get him the sack because he’s picking players out of form and out of position that need to be at 100% for this style to work. For me, sticking with how he wants to play, the team should be more like.. Pickford Stones. Coady. Died Trent. Bellingham. Rice. Chilwell Grealish. Kane. Foden I saw that the only goal we've scored in the last 5 games was thr dodgy late penalty v Germany 🙄

It’s not about having the balls to drop a player, it’s about having the balls to play football. All he does is set up the team in an anti-football way. It’s the shit conservative mindset that’s got you fucked. It's both. Players aren’t playing because they don’t look to be enjoying playing the Southgate way. Talk of tournament football, in recent years I can’t think of any team being as dull and boring as England and actually winning anything. Thankfully for you guys, the next generation of players who come through the PL will still be exciting players and you aren’t wasting a once in a generation group, just wasting time under Southgate.

Southgate will never have the balls to drop Sterling and play Grealish, drop Kane and play Toney. That will be his downfall. It’s not about having the balls to drop a player, it’s about having the balls to play football. All he does is set up the team in an anti-football way. It’s the shit conservative mindset that’s got you fucked. You’ve seen nothing yet. It will be back to rice and Phillips (the most overrated player in world football) in CDM against the good teams in the WC.

Phillips may miss the tournament or part of the tournament due to injury.

People can quite rightly point to a World Cup semi and Euro final under him but, being brutally honest, how many good teams did we actually beat in those two tournaments?
We'll never have a more straightforward route to a WC Final than in 2018 (and still didn't make it). Similar story in the Euros.

That was the stark message I got from last night, the absolute lack of quality, poor set pieces, giving the ball away cheaply, lack of purpose, lack of intelligence. I get that it was a fairly inconsequential game in the big scheme of things, players with a lot of football still to play this season not wanting to get injured etc, but it's tough to just switch on that quality again when you need it against the good sides.
Sterling and Kane were abysmal last night, James was a shadow of the player he can be. What harm in playing Grealish and Toney, TTA? Surely these lads would appreciate and benefit from an England start.

No point playing the "old guard" on Monday against the Germans. Give the fringe players 90 mins. Southgate knows his first 11 for Qatar if they are all fit. It's a dead rubber game so nothing to lose. Unless of course we get stuffed 6-0🤪 But anything has to be better than that bore fest last night.

World cup winner, Euros champion, speaks.🙄 Is that the criteria for criticising Wankgate ? No wonder he gets an easy ride, not one single Englishman is qualified to question him then. Cant take Lineker and his very, very selective critique of everything including football. Southgate believes he is right in his selection and tactics, plus he always supports the 'next big thing', how can he be crticised by Lineker?

England under Southgate are so fucking dull to watch. Hopefully the FA will fuck him off after we fail at the world cup. Coming to that conclusion too but obviously far too close to World Cup to change Manager before at this stage. Graham Potter perhaps would have been an ideal candidate had he not just taken the Chelsea job. A Great Crop of individual players on paper but they just don’t seem to cut it right now as a Team in recent games. I live in hope that these disappointments are lulling us all into a false sense of doom and with the favourable group opposition we could spring into life in Qatar? Noted on BBC Game Report, Leeds new signing, Willie Gnonto who only came on for last 20 mins for Italy was voted MOM …the power of a public vote with a Big Fanbase 😉🥹

We’ll be dumped out in the last 16 or quarters at best.

We'll never have a more straightforward route to a WC Final than in 2018 (and still didn't make it). Similar story in the Euros. We've played 6 decent teams in tournaments: Belgium x2, Croatia x2, Germany, Italy. We've lost 4 of them. We have all this attacking talent and he's intent on playing 5 at the back and 2 holding midfielders. It's boring, dull, negative football.

I don't understand Southgate, it's bad enough that with the decent amount of attacking footballers we have right now he is still so negative, basically playing 7 defensive players, but to pick players who can't get in their clubs 1st eleven, is disgraceful & what does that say to players like Coady, who are playing well but now know that no matter how well they play, Southgate will still pick his favourites?
Virtually every major footballing power, playing a home tournament, should be favourites. We managed to be too negative vs Italy in the Euros final but even then, as in reaching the last World Cup semis, we only beat poor teams - we have crumbled against a half decent team. You can see the players are fed up with Southgate's negative tactics. I would love to have seen Potter as England manager right now, I believe he would have won either or both of the last two major tournaments.

Miserable looking sod with no emotion all evening. Grealish booking no surprise. From coming on was a certainty to get a yellow. Petty moaning to the ref, pushing Italian players to get them to leave the pitch quicker total nob.

If you change your mind, explain why, dont just go with what gets you a like or you think is good for your PR. Lineker does not wait to see, he sticks his first thought out there because he is a twat, then he cant be wrong. He hides until the next 'thing' comes along and joins in with his next not 'joined up' populist comment. I dont think he will ever be accused of being a critical thinker, just a critic.

When a manager says - "I think I'm the right person to take the team in to the tournament. I think it's more stable that way" - you know that even he knows the not the right man, he's using stability, the fact that he's currently the manager, as the most valid reason for being in charge.
England have some very talented players most of which are attack minded but instead of embracing them they are being completely stifled. Defend first and hope for individual moments of brilliance rather than creating a dynamic attacking team that may concede due to not having the best defence but are very likely to score.
