Part of me can't help thinking Carsley did that as a deliberate "fuck you" to those clamouring to pack the team with the so called 'talent'. But a team with that many top level footballers should be able to adjust and realise when things aren't working, to get themselves into the game. And for those of you referring to Alexander-Arnold, you have to call him Trent because that's what the chummy media love in says 😁 He picked the sort of team fans and the media wanted to see in many ways. They probably won’t be asking that again !

I know City did play like that for a while, but obviously have now abandoned that with Haaland. Similar to alot of managers we've had, players confused and out of position. Just keep it simple, play players in their natural positions and we'd beat Greece at Wembley 9 times out of 10.

It's that embarrassment of riches scenario like we had when we tried to make Scholes, Gerrard and Lampard fit into the same team. We can't possibly start Saka, Bellingham, Foden and Palmer. It needs someone to grow a pair and bench a couple of them.

Think Fodens lucky to have as many caps as he has. Whatever he does for Man City..how many time has he had any real effect in an England game?

We'll be fine in any qualifying games we always are, an experimental England lost big deal.

I think a lot of it was more in reaction to the performances in the Euros and Southgate sticking with Kane plus 2 defensive midfielders. Guess it showed in a way why he played like that tbh although must admit didn't always need that system in every home qualifier.

England were bab - simple as That comment belongs in the rarely used or obsolete phrases thread. Thought I was the only person alive still using the word bab You need to calm it a bit on the weed mate. We had a bit of a discussion about the word bab around a month ago. It went onto something about Phil Babb... 😂

Why do the commentators on female football not point out the negatives. Arsenal just scored a goal which happened due to awful defending and goalkeeping but that wasn't once mentioned like it would be watching a men's game.
I get their game is about positivity but it makes a bit of a mockery of the sport when you completely ignore the obvious

Westie will probably use the word "Jobbie" - as in "Hoots mon- I'm awa' fer a wee jobbie" Aye - Fond memories of that chat back in Primary School Days ! Nowadays - It’s more “I’m away for a dump” - And for a piss - “I’m away for a hit and a miss” Talking of Piss - Was on it last night with 😬 ☹️ no footy ☹️ 😬 today - Rough as a badgers arse, was ma late daddy’s birthday yesterday he’d have been 88 so took his pic up to his favourite bar (Lochindall Hotel) for a good few to toast him... Any old excuse ! 🍺 🥃 😉

Football limited today but I’m enjoying Sky’s coverage this afternoon. Great piece on the brilliant efforts by all concerned to repair the pitch at AFC Wimbledon after the flooding and now watching Peterborough v Rotherham.

I've just turned over to watch Hednesford against Gateshead in the FA Cup. In the bright sunshine it's really difficult to tell the teams apart. When you're looking at the backs of the players, one in light blue and one in white and both in dark shorts, it's hard to tell who's who

Highland League -
Half-Time = Clachnacuddin 2 v Turriff United 1 (Roarie McLeod - Connor Bunce (pen) )... 👍
Tariff United reduced to ten men for penalty Offence, Three goals, a red card, a penalty - Sounds like a Turriff-ic first half 😉
Wonder did Roarie McLoud Roar out Loud when he scored ! 😊

HT 1-1 with Wick down to 10 men FT Lossiemouth 1-3 Wick You couldn't tell Wick were down to 10 men. They played it really well and where well worth their win. 🤬🤬

Thoroughly enjoyable game for me today, Crawley 3 Shrewsbury 5. Crawley play some nice stuff but they’re mentally weak, looking forward to seeing Town play them next month. Crawley had a man sent off 10 minutes into the second half for a soft second yellow but took a 2-1 lead soon after. They held out for 10 minutes but then the floodgates opened and Shrews got a soft penalty. Crawley wide open at the end but got a consolation from a big deflection.
