I get the preference for perms, but 'no point'. Loans were a huge part in getting us promoted. A Huddersfield fan should be about the last fan in the world to say this. Yes but we didn't loan from clubs in the same division. No more small town mentality for me It's small town mentality loaning an excellent Chelsea prospect who we already know fits what we do. Strange.

Strange. Not really. I said I'd prefer we bought Brown rather than loan Palmer. I'm a huge fan of Palmer but given that both players are somewhat similar in terms of current ability it would make more sense to buy and develop for our own benefit than to loan and develop for chelseas

It's not necessarily a choice of one thing or the other.

He won't play for Chelsea. Surprised KP45 has renewed when surely he knows the same. The one Abraham has signed at Chelsea is for £50k a week so it's a win win for him.

Doing what exactly? Protecting their investment? No one forced Palmer to sign a new contract and he seems pretty happy to have done so. I am hoping that this was something they wanted to complete before sending him on loan again and that we can get it confirmed soon. To clarify. I have no issue with Palmer signing a contract but this ability to hoard players and loan them out season after season is not good for the game. How many was it last season? 40+? Bit of a joke really. I am pretty sure Chelsea had something like 65 players out on loan last year. Allowing this is stopping smaller clubs signing, developing then selling players to help them survive. Something has to be done to help protect this source of income for clubs outside the premier league. Limit the number a club can register outside of their squad.

I read earlier that they've made £100m+ in the last few seasons from selling players who have played less than ten league games for them. Stockpiling the young lads, loan them out, sell them for a fortune with a buy back clause and high % sell on.

I'm not bothered tbh, Izzy is much better. No he isn't, a Nick. Kasey was better for us than Izzy, even if both played a massive part last season. Both top talents but Kasey has more in his locker without a doubt. Why am I even debating with you? You're not all there pal. Palmer - 5 goals, 4 assists = 9 in 30 for Town Brown - 5 goals (1 pen), 1 assist = 6 in 21 for Town (8 goals (1 pen), 6 assists = 14 in 39 in the championship) Both very good players!

Palmer over Brown for me but I can happily accept anyone who think Brown edges it or vice versa, both very talented. But to say he's much better is just standard trolling from him.

Not sure they had that many out on loan last season, but it was a significant no. that I can recall, 30+... I agree with your sentiment though - the hold that the PL has on youth players, the riches to scout them, offer them stupid terms to stop other clubs finding them is just another example of how the wealth of some clubs & the undoubted clique that probably exists in the PL, is stifling our national team development... The authorities who are responsible for this won't ever shit in their own back yard mind - not when they're also reaping the dividends of these policies with all sorts of 'incentives'...

I'm confused... wasn't the plan always to loan KP and try to buy Izzy?
Very happy with this, we get a quality player who knows us and we know him.
Excellent business

I wanted us to buy both but would have preferred Palmers and was really hoping we could make it permanent. Don't get me wrong I'd take Palmer back on loan but was really hoping it'd be with a view to buy.
Disappointed, this means he won't be our player officially or even with an option to buy even if he does come back.

We certainly aren't going to cut our nose off to spite our face, we still get a great player for the season. Then next year if we stay up he might be our extravagant purchase if Chelsea feel differently next season, likewise we can decide if it's him or someone else we would like to spend the money on

Since then Kasey has signed a four year deal. Coincidence? Obviously I expect us to take him on loan anyway.

Not a coincidence however I think it's more a case of Chelsea knowing if he excels at Town in the Premier League then there will be plenty of teams interested. Just making sure they get a good price if they decide to sell next summer.

They obviously hope he'll be more like Ake (just gone to Bournemouth for 20 million) than Solanke (just gone to Liverpool on a "fee to set by tribunal" as he was out of contract). I find it interesting in this day of high powered agents that Kasey is represented by his parents. Some will probably say he is naive, but I find it refreshing.
