Correct. It was always about generating a fee for Melbourne, as other Oz clubs were sniffing and there are no fees allowed for domestic transfers within Australia. It's a transfer of money from City to their subsidiary that doesn't count as a loan and can not now be seen as a dodgy write off given they've made a profit. Welcome back King Rory .

Still not official, and if, as been said elsewhere, other clubs have agreed a fee then cant help but think at least one will offer better wages

This is a really odd one. I've no doubt we'll pull this off, but the press are speaking so confidently about it being finalised when seemingly it isn't, yet. Even the Examiner are saying 'he's ours' etc. Can't think of a situation in recent years where this has happened.

With quite a few other prem clubs in the hunt, until he actually signs this is far from a done deal. All that seems to have happened is we've agreed a deal with man City. Thats a long way from agreeing a deal with Mooy! Think the press have jumped the gun on this. You can guarantee that if he ends up going somewhere else, they'll then run a story about how Town had him but he snubbed us at the last minute , making us look fools.
In an ideal world this wouldn;t be reported until hes signed and our player but you can bet it will be his agent thats made it public.

Mooy is committed to playing in the confederations cup for at least the next couple of weeks.
My thoughts are that the club have seriously stepped up their game on the marketing front over the last year or so and the deal is in all probability agreed but the club wants to make the most out of unveiling their £10m record signing (hence the lack of an official announcement). A photo of Mooy sat in a hotel room in Sochi holding last season's shirt isn't quite going to cut the mustard in this regard.
Think we may need to hold on for a couple of weeks for a big unveiling, likely to be coupled with the new kit and sponsors to maximise exposure.

We'd be (practically) neighbors if he moved to Birkby Hall Road. I reckon Bar 10 would be more up Mrs Mooy's street, although probably not for the same reasons Lee Clark frequented there.

Examiner put up an article today saying how he's our record fee and comparing him to other clubs record fee as if he's already been announced. Embarrassing.
