Can you do a thread on why Town won't win the Premier League 2018/19? Town 2000/1...no need for comment. England 14/1...need for comment. OK?

Providing Belgium are the group winners, England will have a great chance of winning the WC. It's getting so lopsided now, and increasingly more likely that Germany, Brazil and France will be in one half of the draw. Leaving England with only Argentina or Spain to dispatch providing anti-slackness prevails.
Oh man, but Southgate is so honest, he'll probably want and go and beat the Belgians, and put us in with the World's current best - in their half of the draw.
Just needs to be slightly clever and England can win this World Cup.

No need to overthink it. It's exactly the same reason why the USA or Australia or any of about 200 other countries in the world won't win... Just not good enough. Think you're being a bit harsh on Southgate. From the outside looking in, he seems to me the best couch you've had in years. Suite!

I stopped reading at sterling being world class ffs sterling is great in a great team.. Rashford looks better in the England team.. the 'team' is everything here because world class as a group they are not.. however if we do well then being world class is a moot point and the 'experts' can fuck off.. having listened to the wankfest over Brazil, even when they were clearly struggling its difficult to assess anymore what world class is.. Ronaldo was world class the other night with a very hard working unit around him.. he produced for 90 minutes and worked his arse off both on and off the ball.. I loathe ronaldo but credit where its due.. if Kane scores 2 a game he will be a world class striker by july, but Ronaldo is a world class footballer period..

I shall begin with the most relevant reasons. 1. Not enough world-class players. England cannot win it in the same way that Libya cannot win it...the players are not good enough. How many of the current squad play at PSG, Barca, Real Madrid or Juventus? Who is world-class? Kane or Sterling on an exceptional day? You need 4 or 5 top,top players at the very least. 2. Mental strength and attitude. The least passionate and most self-absorbed squad. Cossetted from youth..its about the money, headphones and roasting women. They always come home saying it was too long or they are retiring or they were bored in the hotel. Chicarito came off blubbing yesterday simply because they had won the opening match...what would he have done had they qualified! 3. Ranking and form. Ranked below the Swiss, Poland, Chile, Peru and Denmark....for good reason. These teams are at least England's equal. Weight of money with British bookmakers always shortens them. They are 15/1 and i would not back them at treble that with Southgate's money. In just over two years they have beaten one decent team (Holland), who were in free-fall. 4. Southgate. I do not rate him. Been groomed for the job by the FA since he captained England. A "Yes" man. They always speak of him as calm, intelligent, considered. I have never heard a profound or erudite word from him...even when i was in his company privately...in fact i think he is none too sharp. His management record is not exactly glowing either. Simply not the man for the job. England to beat Belgium in the final Thought just the same in 1966. Thought his quote about Sven's half time talk in the Brazil game in Japan was profound - ‘We needed Churchill but we got Iain Duncan-Smith.” 😂

Never rated sterling, I think the great team make him look better than he is, as they create so many chances. I think his longest ranged goal is from 3 yards. Never seen him score a goal on the back of him taking someone on or from more than 10 yards. Just don't rate him at all, just no end product for me. All my opinion of course. Much prefer rashford for club and country.

England to beat Belgium in the final Seriously...i ran out of time and missed a biggie. 5. No central play-maker. So slow and ponderous in the middle. Henderson would struggle in Towns team...Dier is slower still. You cannot win the world cup with water carriers (actually hod-carriers). You need a Messi, a Pirlo, a Platini or a Xavi. 1. Probably true. We don't have many world class players just now. Probably just Kane in truth. But we have several who play for Man City who most days would beat PSG, Juventus, Real and possibly Barca so not sure that point makes any sense. 2. On what grounds are our squad the least passionate or most self-absorbed? Your average englishman might be though when it comes to their national side. Its just a lazy cheap shot that. Meaningless and based on nothing. If Poland had got a late winner tonight in the same way, you'd be raving about their determination to get a result to the very end and how they had the character to not give in. I imagine with england you'd portray it as a negative that we left it so late. 3. Rankings are largely bollocks. Tunisia are 21st but I thought they were crap and made almost no attempt to actually win the game. If England played any of Poland, Swiss, Chile, Peru or Denmark we'd beat them far more times than not, because we're a better team than them. 4. I wasn;t sure but hes impressed me so far. Seems to have brought a unity into the squad and hasn;t been afriad to make big decisions that so called top managers in the past haven;t had the bottle to do. 5. A fair point. We do lack a quality central play maker. Southgate is clearl;y aware of that so have built a side that attacks down the flanks instead.

When Oti writes a thread giving detailed reasons for why England will not win the World Cup, you know it's time for you to put your house on England winning the World Cup. That is Oti who won £97,000 in the last calendar year yeh? All that money and you still haven't worked out how to post a screenshot.

Walker,Lingard,Sterling,Young....leave out for next game Gareth, give someone else a chance to shine Walker and sterling will both provide enough for the side. Both top quality in their position and honestly think they would be in contention for many of the best countries in the world. People slating Sterling yet one of the widely recognised best managers in the world plays him weekly for his club. For me he's like how most on here recognise VLP for town. Lingard however, missed 2 must score opportunities -that just isn't acceptable for that level. He could've put England 3-0 ahead on his chances alone by HT, yet Lingard seems to be avoid of any criticism whatsoever. Young spends a bit too much time whining for me and isn't a left footed LB.

I agree - play Sterling in Lingards position and Vardy up top. JV would've bagged at least 2 of the glaring chances first half.

We play Panama next, we can leave a few out here to get game time so for me I'd play Alexander-Arnold for 'caught in the headlights' Walker. Rashford for 'I can still miss from 3 yards if you fogot' Sterling Rose for 'Too old school' Young Loftus-Cheek in for'I need 4 chances a game to maybe score once' Lingard If Deli-Alli is injured just play Vardy And go for it, nothing to lose then pick a side to draw with Belgium and come second in the group !

A bit of a bizarre thread as I am not sure anyone actually expects England to win the World Cup.
As for their price undoubtedly influenced by English bookmakers money but probably about right in a market where there are probably 13 other teams who could win and 18 who won't.
