Or Robbie Williams from Barnsley with a broken leg !!!!! Still maintain we signed the wrong Robbie Williams - though the pre-match singalong would've been intolerable! I always enjoyed "Let me entertain you" when they played it before the game. There's been worse. ..... oh yeah, and town meaning business this coming season. What a club. The 1920s belonged to us, as will the 2020s.

Not many full German internationals would move to a different country on a short one-year deal. Who else were in for him? We pipped Burnley to his signature apparently ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) one look round that "thriving East Lancashire metropolis" and he was ours!

The medal is in his trophy cabinet... I'd feel a fraud. That's like the cleaner of a technology company getting in a major invention just by the virtue of being there, tenous at best. It was only 3 years ago we signed David Edgar (the same season we signed Ishmael Miller), I think we're still allowed to get carried away.

I'm not prone to hyperbole but oh gott in himmel he has a body shape and athleticism similar to Ray Wilson.
Tough assignment for our right back in the first two games of the season - Hazard (if still at Chelsea) followed by Sane.

Have we now got the greatest defence in the history of HTAFC? Time will tell, but we must be the envy of most teams in the league. Quite unbelievable Durm,Kongolo, Zanka, Schindler and Lossl

Bloody hell man, some people can just enjoy a signing without immediately picking holes in what other areas we need to strengthen and the fact he was an unused sub. So what, he has a World Cup winners medal even though he was an unused sub. The lad made the squad for a World Cup winning team, that deserves a medal in my book and he is part of the team that won it. Don’t mean to rant on at you but we’ve just signed a lad from Dortmund, for me that is a big deal, maybe not for some. Not saying it's not a big deal but don't bloody embellish stuff with the World cup winner bollocks when he never kicked a ball in anger. Some Town fans are so far up there own arses sometimes it's untrue with some of the shite they come out with its bloody cringing. I guess you are saying Wagner is up his own arse since he has said it himself, that Durm is a World Cup winner?

For frigs sake let people enjoy it and be excited. Good enough to get into the World Cup winning squad + Huddersfield + signed = ![WTF](//storage.proboards.com/2448479/images/UWSzqsVWL0EGLcGHtrO0.png) . These times in a clubs history barely come around once in a lifetime and even then they are usually only fleeting. Talk about cup half empty and with a pube floating in it. This bastard is full to brimming at the moment let us toast the fickle hand of fortune. Or something like that...

I’m not sure this means that we will see 5 at the back often. With his health history, I could see him used, as an substitute, on either side of the field to give an additional attacking option late in matches.

Doesn't seem so long ago we might have been signing, say, an LDV Vans Trophy winning Northern Ireland international from Tranmere. Now we're signing a World Cup winning German international from Borussia Dortmund. What a time to be alive. Fuck me it's a stretch to call him a World Cup winner considering he actually played no games at all in the World Cup. Bet your wife's wetting herself in anticipation of you returning home from work.

I hope he starts every game, is player of the season and gets capped again by Germany. It's a leap of faith by the club, but equally by the player. To up sticks from Dortmund to come to Huddersfield. Chequered injury history or not, we've got ourselves a top, top player. Really pleased we've got this one done.

A great signing... I thought we'd missed the boat with him. Not sure just where Wagner will play him (I guess it'll depend on who we're up against to some degree) but I can see him being pushed up front if we need a late goal.

Love the fact it isn’t enough for him to have just been in the German WC winning squad... the left back in their team was Phillip Lahm FFS

Interesting that in his interview he says he heard about town’s interest in him a few days ago. Do we assume this signing was done and dusted back when Boothy said and the club have been waiting to release the news?

Absolutely fantastic signing. ....have to wonder though was Norman Hunter ever referred to as a world cup winner? I certainly can't recall it and first started watching football in 1970 (so the comparative time period).

Ian Callahan, Norman Hunter, Jimmy Armfield and Jimmy Greaves and maybe Bonnetti spring to mind but can't immediately remember any others.

I think we will revert to 5-3-2 for the top 6 games and maybe selected other away games, but will largely still play the old 4-2-3-1 - like the World Cup finalists, France and Croatia.

Who gives a shit if he actually played at the world cup, he was good enough to be part of THAT squad only 4 years ago as a 22 year old rising star. Yes injuries have set him back over the last few seasons but if anyone said at the time we'd have a member of the German world cup 2014 winning squad just coming into his prime we'd have all laughed & thought drugs were at play.
It's a huge coup for the club, if Wagner can keep him fit & get him back to the standards he set a few years ago he'll be the best fullback we've had at the club in many, many years.
