I would say being good enough to be selected for a German World Cup squad is some achievement, even if he didn't play. Wagner rates him also and that's good enough for me. I am pleased with this signing and looking forward to seeing him play. I think you might have missed the sarcasm in shortfuse’s post 😉 Craig, no denying it. I did! 😳

Amazed that the lad has agreed to only one year deal. Very good work from Town. A wonder if we tried the initial loan with a view to signing route. Kes, one year deal is a strange one Mate. Why would you do that at the age of 26?. Presumably we are nervous around his injury record maybe? and I am sure we are paying him well.

I think it's prudent to give him a one year deal with the club holding the cards for a second season. He'll, no doubt, be our highest earner. Imagine giving him a 3 year deal, him getting injured, us getting relegated & having to pay him £40k aweek (est) in the championship when not playing & unable to sell him. That's how teams end up in the shit. If things go well, he stays fit, we stay up, then we can take up the second year & go from there.

The medal is in his trophy cabinet... I'd feel a fraud. That's like the cleaner of a technology company getting in a major invention just by the virtue of being there, tenous at best. Like Robert Croft getting an MBE for scoring 7 at the Oval.

If he hasn't cost much he probably has a huge stay up bonus.

1 year deal says all you need to know about the poor lads body, hopefully he gets over these injuries. Although wagner is quoted as saying he passed the medical with flying colours. Whatever happened to Derm Tanner?

What's it going to be like on here when we eventually go back to signing players from the Scottish 2nd tier?

People wont acknowledge his world cup medal because he sat on the bench, and then there's others on here that would prefer Denmark to win the world cup rather than England because they had Lossl sat on theirs.
This place is fucking bizarre.

This place is fucking bizarre. few sat on the bench for england that we might like and they didnt kick a ball for a team that lost in the semis... we like schindler a lot and he never made a squad.. we will have to just sign players that are 100% certain to be big successes.. sorted, the solution was pretty simple...

Durm was formerly a forward, converted to back by Wagner. As he seems very versatile, could he perhaps also give a performance as an occasional winger? Surely he can cross better than the rest of team .... can't be that big a challenge!

Has (had) a good engine, too. Like Flo on the other flank. Wingbacks?

I can think of another player who wasn't a full-back until a Huddersfield Town manager gave him a chance to play in that position for the first-team... apparently he did quite well there!

She bangs the drum - Stone Roses.
Have you seen or have you heard? The way he plays there are no words, To describe the way we're feeling!
Watch him play a perfect pass, He shoots, he tackles, and he's fast. We can't describe what we are seeing!
He can play with either of his feet, He's incredible every week! A Terrier who's Dortmund bred, He's only got a tiny head! Skinning defenders for fun, I can see him, here he comes...
...He's Erik Durm!

I think Jimmy Armfield was still around.

Considering the advances in sports science, I'm hoping he's as good as the fellow world cup winner I was referring to (as I'm sure you knew)...
