Agree with you mate. It's hilarious the amount of people here stating they couldn't give a fuck, never watch it etc. They all probably do but think it's cool to deny it. Schoolboy snobism. It's better than the World Cup! I dont watch it, I don't have BT but even if I did I probably wouldn't. The only reason I'd have for getting BT is for the speedway coverageI though speedway stopped in about 1978 or whenever World of Sport 'Sports Special 2' was abandoned by ITV.

I always watch the champions league it has some great games. I must be so uncool. Agree with you mate. But it isn't, and I genuinely do not give a shit about it. To be fair I don't even really like football anymore, it isn't inverted snobbery or cool, I just don't.

Congratulations to Spurs who almost threw away their 3-0 lead from the first leg tonight against Dortmund but held on to win it in the end after getting tormented big time in the 1st half. Their manager is probably checking out flights to Madrid as I write to take up his new job in the summer, because..... Real get booted out of the competition by the young stars of Ajax. What a fantastic performance and result for them away from home to pull back the 1-2 deficit from the 1st leg. Who said the Champions League was boring?

Well we're down to the last eight and the draw has been made. I'd like to see an Ajax v Liverpool final myself and the teams have been kept apart. Man Ure have a huge game against Barcelona but who knows on their current form they just might do it. Can we expect all the papers to be full of Battle of Britain headlines for the Citeh v Spurs tussle?

I'd still rather watch Town in the Autoglass/windscreens/tin pot trophy.

Probably the same people who forever bang on about how they couldn;t give a toss about england, but will have watched every game we played in Russia. 'Real' football fans are only interested in lower league crap football don;t you know.

In the long run, the sports editors will be licking their lips at the prospect of a final with very much a Spanish feel to it: Pep Guardiola to take his team to Madrid to face Barcelona in the final!

I don't care about the money/politics of of it. As a competition it is the pinnacle of football and pisses all over the world cup.
All this 'I'd rather poke my eyes out' bollox, well that's clearly a load of shit, because if it weren't you'd be swinging from a tree after watching Town this season.

Not sure which thread to stick this in so thought I'd pop it here. This is a great visualisation of what club's have spent down the years.

Another great performance by the young lads from Amsterdam tonight kicking CR7 and co out of the competition. A 19 year old getting the winner. Maybe that Ajax v LFC final will come about after all like I was hoping for a month ago. I wonder if this Ajax team will be able to stick together or if the rich vultures are already circling to tear the team apart during the summer.

If that's the case then the World Cup must be down in 3rd place because the European Championships piss over both the World Cup and the CL. Although granted the extended format of last time out has diluted it a bit.

That's a bit at odds with your view on Town...

First time for a while where I'm at a loss for even who the semi finalists will be. It's really open this year. I've gone with Juventus. Despite how good Spurs were yesterday they haven't got that brutal edge that is needed to win the competition. I've watched a few La Liga games this year and all the Spanish teams are far from their best. Barcelona would be the best bet, but then again I wouldn't be surprised at all if Lyon do them in. Look at how they played against Man City. On the subject, Guardiola's lack of rotation will tire his best players out, and although they have the quality to win it they'll go out earlier than they should. Juventus are demolishing all before them in the league, and with Ronaldo I think they'll have the winning edge. Shame Buffon already shuffled off. This prediction was from before any Last 16 games were played, and it looks like it's all coming true apart from the team I actually voted for to win it! I don't think anyone expected that from Ajax earlier this season. Would be great to see an Ajax vs Barcelona final.

I think it's time to update the bar chart at the top of this thread. Ha, Ha, Ha. What an amazing night of European (English!!!) football.

Tonight just once again proves why this competition cannot be bettered. The entertainment on offer from international fixtures is (more often than not) sub-par at best.

Given my original prediction (Juve) was incorrect, I'd like to have a second stab and back Ajax. The stars just seem aligned for them and they look unstoppable.

All Dutch Eredivisie matches cancelled the weekend before Ajax play Spurs in the CL semi-final to give Ajax the maximum amount of preparation time; apparently it benefits all of Dutch football for Ajax to do well. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47987277Could never see the PL or the EFL agreeing to do this; too much money involved!

The millions and millions of pounds our clubs have over Ajax, so even teams out of the top six can steal their players or targets, is more than enough of an advantage. Doesn't stop City, Spurs etc. whinging though. Only see what they don't have.

Thought I'd revive this thread from a few weeks ago as we now know who the finalists are for 2019. Liverpool v Spurs !!! Who would have thought that a few weeks ago? In fact it's interesting going through all the old posts to see how things have developed. All those who were saying they never watch the Champions League are probably addicted now after the events of the last two evenings. Two of the most dramatic semi-finals ever.

Glad you revived it as it gave me the opportunity to see some of your patronising and ignorant comments basically saying that anyone who claims not to be interested or not to watch the CL is s liar. Just thought I’d let you know that I haven’t watched a single minute of CL football live on TV, have no interest in the competition, will not be watching the final and look forward more to the game at St Mary’s on Sunday. Hope that clears up any misunderstanding.
