I have read a lot of football autobiographies and most talk at some stage about injuries. They often say how some players play through pain while others are a pain with their attitude and crying off when the going gets tough. When did we last have 7 injured. Is this a coincidence or are they not wanting to play?

Either that or our medical staff aren't up to the job. I thought Williams was supposed to be almost ready to play 2 or 3 months ago.

They don't want to play more like. Yeah 2 players who were just getting minutes and backing by the manager pretended to be injured. As did a guy who hasn't had chance to impress the new man yet since doing his shoulder. As did a guy who is an absolute warrior and tried to carry on with his injury at Brighton. As did a young lad who'd just got his 1st ever start. As did a guy who was starting games in his favoured position after impressing in his last game.

The club don't want them to play when they're injured.

They don't want to play more like. Go on then, tell us which of the injured players don't want to play? Chucking accusations around like that I presume you can back it up? Abit hypocritical you getting defensive earlier about someone calling some fans coke heads then telling us our injured players are effectively not playing because they can't be arsed?

we are in a position where players who are even slightly 'poorly' are not risked because its just not worth it..looked like we had a few who would have liked to come off on saturday once we went a goal behind..
some players manage injury better than others same as in any job..

Well you can take Hogg straight off that list, Diakhaby was just hitting some form and Mbenza looked suicidal when he pulled up with his calf..

He was meant to be out until sometime in March. Fair enough. I'm probably thinking of the video where Williams said he was nearly ready. Must have been October/ November. Whatever his issue is, he's been unfit for what seems an eternity. Have our medical staff never heard of laser or any other forms of natural treatment?

And being dead is not an excuse. actually anyone we can find to blame who is deceased is a prime target these days... you can say or alledge whatever you like.. maybe some of our squad are not as keen to play as they were but thats not unusual or just us.. personally if I thought I was good enough to move on I would be working my arse off to impress... the new lads were just getting a fair go so its probably safe to say they are not malingering.. my only 'new' thought after saturday was that Bacuna can probably run a long way but not very fast at all..even for us he looks slow...maybe he has an injury?

Crossed my mind it could be new training methods, we seem to have had a lot since seiwert arrived.

Bit of a shame as he looked decent the few times he has played.

Huge difference though eh, the obvious conclusion is that it's due to different training methods. Not necessarily the case though, could be coincidence or bad luck. I would say that the theory of "cant be arsed playing" would only stand up to Lolo at a push, the others all have something to play for i.e a place in the team for next season, a contract here or somewhere, or a move. I would imagine Lolo will move back to Belgium and there will be a list of clubs chasing his services, he looks like he cant be arsed playing football this year, So possibly, just possibly he may be the only one.

Crossed my mind it could be new training methods, we seem to have had a lot since seiwert arrived. If he is working them harder than they were under Wagner then GOOD.... I think wagner realised that with his squad depth the intensity in training and on the grass had to be lower and thats why the geaganpressing disappeared.... I think Siewert has more conviction in his methods than that and if a player is injured he will take another from the u23s. A more club approach. That would have been suicide in the premier league, but in the championship its all about energy rather than quality, so hopefully we can use the clubs squad to its full potential.

Interesting press conference!
Injured Hogg, Depoitre, Williams, Mbenza, Tikay (”Kongolo”) + Durm who will be fit.
No mention of Diakhaby.
I also like how he deflects the question from Hannah about who the particular West Ham danger men will be....”they have a lot of dangerous players”...me dubiously strokes chin and thinks,,,”erm, you don’t actually know any West Ham players do you?!”...Hannah presumably thinks the same so follows up with “well name SOME of the dangerous players then”....Jan quickly racks his brain, can’t think of a single West Ham player so responds, “I don’t want to” like a baby!!
I’m sure it doesn’t actually play out like that...but I do wonder if he’s all that bothered about the opposition given how far away from everyone else we seem to be...might as well just forget who we’re playing and try and bed a system in whilst just taking the hit of a load of defeats...like an extended pre season.

I think I prefer the “not bothered” about the other team’s players approach. I think at times DW overthought the game plan “ we need to find solutions to..” rather than focusing on how we should be playing. And given how short we are on numbers this weekend, I doubt we’ll have too many “game plan” options anyway.

What struck me was how little interest there is generally in the WH game, eg there isn’t even a match thread started on here yet. I was at Newcastle (what a waste of effort) and watched the Brighton game on a stream (what a waste of time). How many are bothering to trek down to London tomorrow for what will almost inevitably be another defeat where we fail to score?
