Now that will be embarrassing - they'll be playing cricket! This lot haven’t got the brains to play that sport! It would certainly confuse a lot of the foreign contingent!

Perhaps it's just me but I sense from Siewert's latest interview he seems to be trying to keep the players on side, or maybe get them back on side by praising the effort and showing empathy with their mindset.
I wonder if you asked him if he might have adopted a different approach since January? He seems to be adopting a softer more collaborative tone. Perhaps he's realised that he's gone down the wrong motivational path so far?
I am of course speculating, but he was/is less mature than both DW and Farke (I make the comparison as he seems a good man manager too, and he has similar roots) and perhaps he is learning fast?
That said it doesn't address the tactics and team selection. My main concern is that we don't play with a controlled shape any more. Under DW we looked drilled and coherent, if lacking quality, under Jan we look desperate and uncertain.
It's a tough gig for him but there are definite question marks.

The grim reality is he has taken us from a very poor team to the worst side in premier league history.
He was always going to be massively out of his depth given his experience so not at a surprise really
We all laughed at Leeds when they hired hokaday but this is immeasurably worse considering he is still here

Folk saying Jokanovic wanted too much money. Well Wagner was on a fortune
I'd be happy for the manager to be the best paid person at the club if it meant he was the right person. Leeds have taken that approach this season paying Bielsa around 3 million and it's certainly worked for them

Time for him to resign imo, totally clueless, just stands waving his arms. Plays our best striker on the wing and a donkey up top. Get rid before we end up in league one.

I'd have been busting a gut to get him here but even if we'd offered him what Wagner was on I still don't think he'd have come. We won't spend a fraction of what he would have wanted to build a promotion challenging side for next season. We won't use the parachute payments like that, the few noises coming out indicate that it's all about building slowly and securing the club for the next decade.

People saying who could we get?
We have a revenue of £110m
That’s bigger than practically every Bundesligua, La Liga, Ligue 1 or Serie A side
We have a wage bill of £60m and our players are earnings millions annually - many of them now live in Leeds or Manchester so the little Huddersfield backwater tag doesnt really apply
Very soon we’ll also have a £20m training facility
It’s not unattractive
Barnsley went German and got a guy with better pedigree

Wasn't wagner rumoured to be on 100k a week? He did a fantastic job and I don't have a problem with the manager being the highest paid. I'd imagine Hughes and buehler are on good money hence why they are both on gardening leave.
If jokanovic is rumoured to want 60k a week why aren't we getting him?

Trouble with jokanovic is that’s he clueless at sorting a defence Even if he got us up its probable he’d struggle again in the top flight as he’s no idea how to set up a side to not ship 2-3 goals a match For me he’s lose lose - either fail and sacked or succeed and get found out defensively again

He may or may not be up to the Premier League but he’s got two Championship promotions on his CV. Siewert isn’t up to German 4th division standard (see his record at Rott-Wein Essen for evidence) but we thought he was capable. It was a naive and stupid appointment from the start.

Its only just over 3 years since we were worrying about being able to find a manager who could keep us in the Championship Now some people's criteria seems to be that any manager must have proven ability to keep us in the Premier League. Loads of managers have a seasons survival in the premier league on their CVs but im not sure I'd want many of them. Wonder what Paul Jewell is up to...

Said it in another thread we had to go for Wagner at the time we’d ran out of ideas and it was risky worth taking, jan however wasn’t! our stock as a club has risen a lot we didn’t need to go down the route of a total unproven or unheard of German and it’s beginning to look like it was big mistake and rather the cheap and lazy option to take especially with some of the other names linked!. It’s abit of a worry the club seems all over place without any sort of plan how a dof hasn’t been appointed yet is farcical given the amount of work to do the summer. If he does end up leaving though and we do look to Germany again Steffen Baumgart would be one to consider done a cracking job at Paderborn.

I can't think of a single top flight club who have appointed someone who's credentials, at least on paper, are so limited. Take the Wagner factor away and it's a baffling decision. It smacks of the club expecting lightning to strike twice when, if we're honest with ourselves, the stars really did align for us between 2016 and 2018.

They do seem to be 'aligning' again for Norwich and the Blades?? whilst 100k plus a week Lampard and Bielsa are going to have to take a play off chance?? Lets see how he and us do first before throwing our premier league bonus at it, takeovers and full clearouts etc notwithstanding?

You could probably say we were hoping for it to strike thrice given Farke at Norwich, however a lot of that is probably down to Webber again shows what a good dof can give you.

Wilder had a long playing career before successfully working his way up the leagues as a manager. Farke had a decent playing career before a successful spell in the lower leagues in Germany, culminating in him being appointed Wagner's successor at Borussia Dortmund (where he had a 52% win ratio). Siewert, on the other hand, had no playing career to speak of and was sacked from a German fourth division team before doing ok at Dortmund II. He has no credentials.

Pointless thread in my opinion. He will be in charge next season and he will have learned who, from our current squad, if he can keep them, can play his style of football and is up for the challenge. Once we have sorted the wheat from the chaff in the summer we will see if he has the ability to make his style work successfully. Until we know that, and see who we have next season, the whole discussion is pointless.

Jan is up against it you’d think. No great performances to really get behind. No clear vision as to what his footballing philosophy is. Hard to know what we as fans are buying into and he’s not particularly engaging. Dean looked for the continuity to go back to Dortmund. As good a rationale as any I suppose..but it doesn’t look like a good fit right now. Does Dean trust Jan to lead the club next season after what he’s done in his 13 game interview. That’s the question. I think a big thing in people's mind is that when Wagner took over, there were signs of improvement even though we were losing, but you've got to remember, we were playing in a division so inferior to this one, and one where the gulf in quality wasn't nearly as wide as this one. The players we have are so below par for this division, there is literally zero chance of the team showing signs of improvement - they aren't good enough!

He has no credentials. somebody with influence and a greater inside knowledge of the game and its ins and outs in managerial terms than me and you, has recommended and championed this bloke to Dean Hoyle.. We have been looking at him for a while apparently and he obviously passed the interview process.. Credentials are made, not given.. how do you make your credentials in football management?? some have early success and live on them for quite a while, some progress in an up and down career and newish starters get a chance and some time to make them... some play football at a high level and fail miserably when running the show.. All I can say is that there has to be a decent amount of time given before those 'credentials' can be tested properly.. I wanted Wagner to free up the team in December and change what we were doing, at no point did I ask for him to go. He had 'credentials' that we had seen work in this division to a level that was acceptable but he lost his way and the team went with him.. Winning something or being sacked in a miserable season are credentials that can change almost overnight in another situation.. TIME and a fair go at it is my view on managers at any level..

Just to flip it on its head a bit, what do people think the outcome would have been like if jan had been here at the beginning of this season. Same players (including Grant), but with his preseason his “attacking mindset” and full of confidence?
Hypothetical I know but generally interested.

The players attitude is all wrong and it’s part of the managers job to instil a competitive edge. At full time last night the players did not show how much it hurt to be humiliated. Smith was seen joking with Mane and no doubt congratulating him whilst Durm was asking for Salah’s shirt. Whilst it may hurt the supporters that we are not good enough on both the skill and effort front I have seen little from the team to show they have any pride or even realism as to how bad they have performed. When Mounie was subbed he pointed to himself as if to say you mean me, when everyone else saw that his performance was a disgrace. There needs to be a massive shift in not only personnel but also mindset if we are to really compete next year and Jan has to be seen to be instrumental in making this happen.
