Can't work out how some think he is better than LDP. He can't control a ball, shield a ball, beat an opponent or make an intelligent pass and don't get me started on his effort levels

The moment when we could all see the pass to Daly will be remembered as the moment he lost many of the fans. It was a shocking decision, I cannot fathom what he was thinking.

Easily better than Depoitre, even accounting for his ridiculous head down play when Daly was free.
Good enough for EPL though - nope.

Mounie's had a crap season but anybody that's seen Depoitre this season can't seriously think he's better.

Its clear that he is a massive confidence player, and this season he has struggled, almost to the point of getting in the way. If we can get the Mounie back from last season scoring goals like the one away at West Brom then he might do well in the championship. Its going to need a manager to pick him up from rock bottom though, and bring his confidence back, know exactly when to play him, when to take him off, when to leave him out, and the right things to say to him. What wont help him is the ironic cheers when he is brought off, its horrible to watch, the same as when people cheer when Hamer makes an easy save.

Someone quoted maybe get 8m for him.... I’d take 2 and write it off. He’s suited to ligue 1 and someone like Rennes would take him

I don’t believe he’s shite. I think his confidence is shot to pieces. He’s the shadow of the player I saw that ripped palace apart first game last season. He has ability in the air and his second goal that day showed he has it with his feet. With a team completely clueless going forward and zero creativity in the last 18 months it’s no surprise his confidence is gone. I feel for him, I think there’s a good player in him still but he’s been let down badly by those around him, the tactics and playing style of the last 18 months and the constant chopping and changing of the front line.

I’m convinced, because his confidence is at an all time low, that the only thing on his mind was to drive forward to get himself into a shooting position so he could hit one and hopefully score. All the other players bombing forward on his left and right in better scoring positions than he was were insignificant to this thought!

I accept that he maybe a confidence player but playing a simple weighted pass would have shown all round quality. He seemed to consider the option and then reject it but with no obvious plan as to what he was going to do I do think in a more direct team, with better service to his strengths he's likely to be more effective. Both he and Depoitre should have been reviewed in the summer and one moved on. That said we all thought get great wingers in and we'll score more....with hindsight that was badly misplaced.

I have watched Town for around 50 years and seriously, he has to be one of the worst strikers this club has had. Some fan's go on and on about the Palace game, what has he done since then.

Terry Austin scored two goal's on his debut and was garbage after that, this fella falls in to the same category.

His total lack of movement in the box is nothing to do with those around him. His constant poor decision making is nothing to do with those around him. Him pulling out of tackles is nothing to do with those around him. It's all down to him. He's been awful, has stopped putting the effort in and we look far better with Grant playing. A decent finisher would be close to double figures with the sitters he's missed this year, never mind other chances.

The way he cocked up the break in the second half by failing to pass was poor, but let's be honest, Kachunga would have probably done the same thing. Lack of quality with the final pass is no surprise to any of us, and Mounie is far from alone in making the wrong decisions in the final third.
His confidence is obviously shot, but he sometimes does himself no favours. He's good in the air, but his first touch is questionable, and his lack of anticipation for a striker is alarming. He rarely gambles, makes intelligent runs or shows the basic movement you would expect from a striker. He might be a different animal in the Championship, but I'd be looking to move him on if possible. I'd like to think we'll be looking to sign at least one, but preferably two strikers in the summer.
