Do you think Colin Quaner would actually improve this England team, or detract from it? Serious question. He would look like Stan Collymore did against us when playing for Southend. They've done fantastic, but they'd not stand a chance against a League Two team and for all the shit Quaner gets, he scored four and got four assists (I think) in sixteen games for a crap Ipswich side.

Anyone who watches womens football and thinks it's equal to any professional level of the men's game should just give up watching football altogether. I'd love to see an average player like Quaner thrown up front for a women's team. He would look unreal with all the space and time they get. Not one female player at this world cup could get in a Conference north/south side. I'd even say it's unlikely they would 2 or 3 levels down from that

Anyone who watches women's football with a view to solely comparing it to any level of the men's game should just give up watching women's football altogether. ... and this is the problem. This is not helped by commentators trying to boost it's image by bulling up the crowd numbers aiming to make them comparable to mens football, or (during the last England game)stating that the wages for female footballers are on a par with the men. Is this true? We don't get this male/female comparison with tennis, swimming, cycling, hockey - so why all of a sudden with football? Perhaps this fits nicely into the BBC push for gender equality. Enjoyed watching the England games, though they may get a thumping from the US of A. Best with the sound on low, so that I don't have to listen to the commentators' crud!

But there are women calling for equal pay etc They need to realise that they're serving up a product similar in quality to tier 8 or 9 of the English Football Pyramid and therefore comments such as equal pay are ridiculous. Unless they mean the same pay as what a player in the Northern Premier is getting

In their sport, theyre great. But they wouldn;t beat a decent male U17 team. Thats not a criticism.. just how much strength and physicality are important in football.

As far as I know, Male england players don;t take a wage for playing for england. A fee is available but it is diverted to charity and has been for many years. Don;t know if thats the same for the women, and to be fair theyd be justified in keeping the money themselves with earning so much less as club players. Women players should earn what THEIR sport can pay them based on its revenues ( probably go up quite a bit after this WC ). The more money it brings in, the more they'll earn... just like in the mens game. Any mention of equal pay is just PC absurdity. Can you imagine the Man City striker pulling in £300k a week whilst playing in front of 1000 spectators!

I think an iPhone should cost the same as a basic Nokia. Both are phones so they're the same, right? The quality, features and demand for the products are irrelevant.

As expected Netherlands a bit too much for Italy over 90 minutes earlier but this last quarter final is a more even affair.

Now that's put the cat among the pigeons. If Sweden can pull off a shock win here it would give England even more focus to overcome USA.

It's a big ask is that of England, as I said last night the Americans look technically better and a better unit than we do. They are the equivalent of Brazil to men's World Cup, for context they have won it more times than any other country and in every finals they have made at least the semis without fail.

Yes agree USA are the team to beat but if England can find a way I think they could hold their own against whoever else gets there. As someone else posted they have to step it up again as they have done with each new challenge.

Doesn’t matter what sport, but particularly football, there’s something very satisfying and comforting seeing the Germans lose in a major competition when they’re expecting to win 😁

For those complaining about the BBC going overboard on womens football, by the looks of their sport website they're doing the same with fucking rounders, apparently there's a game on (kids v mums and dads 🤔) and they've stories, videos, the lot

You’re right about the U17 thing. The USA Women’s Team played a closed-door scrimmage in January this year against a U15 side from FC Dallas. The women lost 3-0. They lost by even more the previous year. I agree that it’s simply not helpful to anyone to compare the two much. Just appreciate what they are.
