Do you think Colin Quaner would actually improve this England team, or detract from it? Serious question. He would look like Stan Collymore did against us when playing for Southend. They've done fantastic, but they'd not stand a chance against a League Two team and for all the shit Quaner gets, he scored four and got four assists (I think) in sixteen games for a crap Ipswich side. Are you quite mad? Womens footy has come on 500% in 8 years.....but Stalybridge Celtic (step 7) would beat the USA women 10-0 every match....and i MEAN every match.

Anyone who watches women's football with a view to solely comparing it to any level of the men's game should just give up watching women's football altogether. But there are women calling for equal pay etc They need to realise that they're serving up a product similar in quality to tier 8 or 9 of the English Football Pyramid and therefore comments such as equal pay are ridiculous. Unless they mean the same pay as what a player in the Northern Premier is getting Tier 9? Perhaps....more like 11.

Don't think they could compete at any level, just a physical thing.

In their sport, theyre great. But they wouldn;t beat a decent male U17 team. Thats not a criticism.. just how much strength and physicality are important in football. You’re right about the U17 thing. The USA Women’s Team played a closed-door scrimmage in January this year against a U15 side from FC Dallas. The women lost 3-0. They lost by even more the previous year. I agree that it’s simply not helpful to anyone to compare the two much. Just appreciate what they are. A what now?

It’s a scrimmage where they don’t invite the public. The only reason we know about it is because a member of the media was there to watch it. He reported about it on a podcast.

I always thought it was an American football word that you'd (Americans, not you personally) mispronounced from scrummage, the rugby term I cannot say you are incorrect. But we do use it for all sports. It’s badically a “friendly” where the team doesn’t sell tickets, and isn’t reflected in any win/loss standings. So if that’s what a scrummage is, then sure.

No, a scrummage is a way off restarting a game, vaguely similar to the way a quarterback gets the ball to start a play. "A play", get me, those Sunday teatimes watching the Redskins on Channel 4 in the mid 80's weren't wasted 😁

I'll never understand the need to compare it to the mens game. Just strive to make it the best it can be
I've enjoyed watching it

Talksport says Lucy Bronze could play at league one mens level !

and if TalkSport (or as it is more often known TalkShite) say that Nick then it has to be true then ?
Shame you cannot say the same about 99.89% of your posts !
Women football is but a fleeting thing - fills a hole between end of last season and start of next when the real game starts again.
Those that love it will be pleased with it, those that think its crap will avoid.

Some decent headed goals in this comp......and such slender necks (apart from those who maybe still have a dick).

This thread is proof that blokes are not actually too far advanced from the Leeds fans, sorry neanderthal man...
I hope these lasses go on and win it, then piss (some of) you all off with a massive welcome back at Heathrow, followed by an open top bus to Trafalgar Sq...
Would make my summer would that, knowing you old/young farts are getting all hot & bothered.

I've watched a fair bit of the world cup and enjoyed it but there has been some dire games. BUT i also coach junior football and I have to admit as far as the basics, gamesmanship, positioning, mentality, i'd rather the kids i coach watched games in this women's world cup than some of the stuff in the mens.

Massive game tonight, England have never gone further than semi finals before in either Euros or WC. Up against the best team in the competition so England will probably need the rub of the green a bit but here's hoping they pull out a top performance and do the business. Another screamer from Bronze would be nice but if England get a set piece like that again the American defence will be all over her like a rash.
