Just been to magic rock, tell you this.... New badge should be Nouvelle cuisine, Dixons ice cream cone on it, pint of nook v blonde. Should stick a cone on your head and put you on the M62 somewhere. Not many posts actually make me laugh but this un hit the spot.

Quite a few shields in that lot, although most are integral to the design, not an added extra like ours. No idea why we have it. The on its own is fine as it is. The club say it enables transfer onto the shirts easier. Also it could get lost in the blue and white stripes without a border. Load of bollocks. How did they manage on the Panasonic, Prime Time, Yorkshire building society shirts?

How did they manage on the Panasonic, Prime Time, Yorkshire building society shirts? Easy, it had a white border surround. Correction, placed central on a white stripe, won't always be possible on the templates used.

My issue is why bother changing it at all? It's really not much of a change (other than the poor quality obvious to anyone who has design experience).
Town tried to change it last year to the Terrier (and they can say what they want about it being always 1 year thing but had everyone loved it I imagine they'd have kept it for good).
Seems strange that the club have tried to alter the badge twice in two years. Does anyone have any info on why?

They didn't change it last year just didn't put it on the shirts and used a Chinese year of the dog instead. Perhaps they look at DATM and take note of the moaning about how small the badge lettering is? Note, moving the stars into the badge has expanded its size and HUDDERSFIELD TOWN is more prominent.

I know I'm late on this as I've been on holiday but as usual with anything design related I'm always intrigued to try a few alternatives when I think there's room for improvement. The new they've opted for looks far too cluttered and dated whilst the actual execution of the design looks really poor and amateur. For me the stars could be removed completely, I'd just add these to the shirts if necessary, either above the as normal or maybe to the sleeve or top of the back, they don't need to be part of the . There's also no need for Castle Hill to have one wall on a slope and a huge crack down the wall, it just looks clumsy, whilst the other lines to define the armour and the foliage of the coat of arms could be tidied up to have smoother curves and crisper edges. Anyway, this was my effort along with a different design removing the foliage and armour which I've seen a few people mention too:

Still think your avatar one is the style we need to go for. Also noticed today that Bristol City have a new logo. They have gone away from the coat of arms and it looks miles better. So simple with clear lines and flat colours.

I'd go for something like this. Taken inspiration from the Bristol City one. Please note i am no graphic designer, this was knocked up in about 30 mins in Paint Shop Pro so the text is a bit wonky.

I still think that 1st one has the issue with the coat of arms facinb forwards, the dog facing sideways and the armour somewhere between the 2. Something just doesn't work with the 3 facing different ways. It is better than the current one though. With the dog facing sideways it just makes it look small sitting on the space it has. The size of the dog on the 2nd one is better IMO, as the space it has to sit on is bigger.

Love the second one. Why haven't the club got you on board by now?! Doubt they will change it now. Lots are probably already done.

You say you like the second one, I don't. Three Yorkshire roses and no stars, definitely controversial. You will never satisfy everybody whichever you go for. Ask Sean Jarvis.

That’s not a bad effort, and should be similar to what the club should’ve gone with if you ask me. Is anyone able to do the Rubery one (hate calling it that) but with the new Terrier logo (in blue or white not brown) instead of the old one. Think that would’ve pretty much nailed it in terms of pleasing most folk (if they could get over the association with Barry that is).

I didn’t really have any strong feelings on the new , or last years dog...however, if you watch any of the clubs YouTube content since the new appeared, it just looks like a horrible mess. They’ve got to create a different DOG surely for video overlay?? Surely...that can’t be it can it ?? The dog badge looked good as a DOG.

All of towns graphic design and branding is amateur at best. The standard is that of kids coming out of school but I suppose that’s probably who we have doing it.
Dean Hoyle, Sean Jarvis etc do a good job but are clueless when it comes to the look and feel of marketing communications and designing badges by the looks of things.

I love the badge/ it’s us! To me it signifies Huddersfield town. I’ve never thought it’s cluttered. It’s traditional and although I appreciate its opinion and this is really what a forum is for the new badges look cheap, rushed and generic. Just my opinion.

The second design is along the right lines. The frilly bits are very dated and don't look right at all inside a shield. Also would it have been too much to ask for the to fit inside the new shield evenly. That big gap at the top looks ridiculous and the still looks too small with the blank shield being the dominant aspect. An improvement for sure but still not right.
