In the absence of big Frank being an option I'll go for Pele

If Marcus Stewart isn't on the list, the poll will get a 0/10 from the UN Observers.

You need Lev Yashin too, otherwise you'll be black-balled by the Goalkeepers' Union.

In terms of the best "footballer" then it's Messi. Take away his goals and his passing accuracy was statistically better than Pirlo, Xavi, Scholes, Iniesta etc over the last 10 years. He's the best dribbler in world football by a mile. He creates more chances than any other player. Then add in his goals.

Messi, not even a debate. Elaborate why it isnt even a debate. Messi v Ronaldo is the classic debate - just look at their comparative stats.. overall Messi has a better goal-to-game ratio and assist-to-game ratio. For me, he also creates more space and issues with his dribbling. Ronaldo isn’t as sufficient at that part of his game anymore, he’s simply molded himself into just an out and out prolific goal scorer - one at which as stated Messi has better stats for. The main point that people say in Ronaldo’s defence is “he’s done it in other leagues” correct.. but there is no proof at all tha Messi couldn’t adapt, he’s torn Chelsea, United etc all new ones loads of time, when you’re at that elite level - what league is irrelevant. As for Messi in comparison to your Maradona’s, Best, older generations.. the game has evolved so much since then, players are physically so much quicker, stronger, more endurance and even the speed of the game and thought speed is quicker. The game quality has enhanced massively, so surely the players who are the best in this generation are the best of all time? Not saying Maradona etc wouldn’t have evolved but you can’t say they are with the only proof of being at a completely different level of quality, physicality etc. That’s just my opinion, obviously there is room for debate as it will always be subjective. Still going to say, Messi - no debate.

Still going to say, Messi - no debate. It isnt proven he can do it another league also. His goalscoring stats are good for one team, in one league. A club littered with talent and one where i could probably get 20 a season with the service he has too. Look at Ronaldos stats at his peak for United, then onwards at Real Madrid and Juve now, simply outstanding. 5 Ballon D'Ors each, countless Champions Leagues but International totally swings it. Carried Portugal to the Euros, won the inaugural Nations League, consistently turns up and scores. Messi goes missing frequently and in a team littered with stars. Could Messi hack not getting free kicks after a little tap in England? Ronaldo changed his game after getting boolocked for going over all the time by his own team mates. Messi has played one way of football in Spain. Ronaldo has played 4. Portuguese way, Englnds fast paced game, Spains build up game and Italys defensive football. They have won near on similar things at club level, different countries in Ronaldos case, but being safe and not challenging yourself is why i dont rate him as high. Ronaldo goes somewhere, wins it all and goes on elsewhere. Credit for trying it and hands up for being the best still wherever he has gone

Cristiano Ronaldo.
Not only the best player of the main contenders but has had the fullest career to prove it. Won things in 4 major leagues and internationally.
Pele did his legendary stuff in world cups, His club career is hard to judge because of where it was and the standard not being great. Messi has only done it in spain. Internationally hes been a bit of a flop.
C Ronaldo Messi Maradona Pele

C Ronaldo Messi Maradona Pele I wish England had an international flop that has scored 67 goals in 130 international games (more competitive than half the European international games), has won an Olympic gold medal, an under 20 World Cup, been in a World cup final and 3 Copa America finals. Yep he's absolutely flunked internationally. If Higuain could shoot he'd probably have won a World cup and 2 of those Copa america's.

C Ronaldo Original Ronaldo Maradona Messi Cant disagree. Top 2 for me are just levels. The rest are, but them 2 are just ridiculous.
