Shame about the vanity project happening 10 miles down the road. Those idiots should have taken on Bury/Stockport. Clubs that actually have fans.
Yup, I agree, And I also have quite a soft spot for Bury, Stockport and Rochdale too.

Outside London there isnt another area that needed another professional football club less. I'd say we probably feel the effects slightly of being 30 miles from 2 of the (now) biggest clubs in the world, never mind the affect this has on Oldham/Rochdale/Bury/Stockport/Bolton/Wigan etc. To throw another pro and now football league club into the pot in that area was completely unnecessary. They were basically Liversedge 5 years ago. Clubs like that dont have fans, they have folk pitching in and helping for the benefit of the players and the local community. They want a bit of cameraderie and a pint pitchside, not dreams of the football league and strikers on £5k pw.

Gigg Lane would be a good venue for music concerts.

Countless players down the years have gone between the clubs. Ian Robins was without doubt the best to come here from Gigg lane. Stanton for me. I'll give you a dead heat on that one

Is that the 50 who used to watch them whilst out with the dog or the 1500 plastics who had no idea they existed 5 years ago?

I'm not surprised they're in trouble....sacking Lee Clark before he'd had chance to work his magic.....:-)

Not the fault of the fans but can't help but think Bury cheated their way to promotion last season. All the clubs who paid their staff and operated within their means, beaten by a team spending beyond their means. Doesn't sit right.
Like I said, I'm not blaming the fans so hope it all gets sorted.

I think a lot of their "fans" might disagree with you. Is that the 50 who used to watch them whilst out with the dog or the 1500 plastics who had no idea they existed 5 years ago? Does it matter? Success breeds interest leading to bigger crowds. They’re all entitled to dream of bigger and better.

Does this mean Bury are unable to afford Phil Billings transfer fee?

Bury was my first away trip on the old railway supporters special. It went very well with a little bit of bother on the return trip but the police dogs seems to keep everything reasonably calm.
It was the first time I remember a town shirt worn as a mini dress, oh what memories.

Was his nickname doodah? Came unstuck with student flats in town if it's the same guy ? He must be a self made man as it were because his mum and dad had no brass so he hasn't been handed it on a plate, seems it's all gone wrong for him though now. I played football at school/college with both Stuart & his older brother, they were both decent players especially Stuart who played above his age. When I saw he had bought Bury I was delighted for him but thought that if he had made some brass he was mad dipping into football. Kept an eye on him as a potential successor for Deano ever since though.

I spoke to his sister in Sainburys just after he bought Bury and she said he was mad!! I couldn't agree more I thought to myself.
