Who the asked you for your opinion? What's it got to do with you? Nothing mate jog on. Who asked you for your's? What has anything to do with you? Jog on? Really? Are you some sort of Moaner wannabe? I've never actually seen you offer any opinion all you do is abuse other people. If you got an opinion on Elphick let's hear it, if not,as I said, jog on cos you're a right boring sod.

Ah so now the issue isn't that chanpionship clubs want 30 year old centre halves, it's that after they get promoted with them they might get relegated again. Got you. Yeah because of there old men centre backs. I can't count the number of centre backs at 30 plus at the top level who can still cut it. you didn't say top level, you said championship. Clearly, the evidence shows that having 30 year old centre backs did not so you being promoted from the championship. Whether they are good enough for the premier league is immaterial.

What's that got to do with getting promoted out of the championship? Are you saying this guy is going to be first choice and fire us to promotion? He's a squad player, cover for Kongolo and Schindler although if both of them go we look weak in that department. When did a centre back ever fire any team to promotion. Do you know how football works?

Strikers will fire you to promotion, anyone who can score goals, sadly Town seem to avoid the thorny issue of goalscorers.

Unless we are going to play with 3 centre backs or Kongolo goes to play at full back we might be in for a long wait for him to play. If we have signed him for anything other than a squad player then I'll be really surprised, he's only been given a 12 month deal, that suggests to me he isn't here long term, just as cover.

Yeah, apart from the 3 clubs who got promoted from the championship last season. Norwich Klose 31 Sheff Utd Stearman 31 Barsham 30 Cranie 32 Villa Chester 30 Elphick 31 Yeah but them 3 will end up relegated. If Villa do get relegated it won't have anything to do with Elphick.

Takes Stankovic one step further away from a first team place = priceless signing.
He’s a nice lad and all that, but nowhere close to being good enough for a top half Championship side. 🤷♂️

Schindler Kongolo Elphick Stankovic Looks strong - Kongolo & Elphick vs Hef & Hudson Lose one of the top 2 and it doesn’t Concerned about his injury record? Possible concern yes He’s 31 not 36. Lots of experience and a leader - put it like this he wouldn’t have downed tools like other centre half not named above good assessment spesh

I think this is a great signing. It doesn’t matter whether JS has heard of Tommy, what matters is it’s JS’s signing and Tommy will be well aware of what JS wants. No doubt that we’ve looked at AV(plus Sheffield United/Norwich) to see who was being left behind, then cherry pick a player or two, who has that winning feeling plus who are absolute professionals. That’s what we need as a club right now, professionals and to get that winning feeling back.

Dunno. He gets my support and I hope it works out, but the Puncheon spectre haunts me - you could see there was a good footballer there, but perhaps wrong time, wrong place, wrong reasons for coming, wrong reasons for signing him?

He's a squad player, cover for Kongolo and Schindler although if both of them go we look weak in that department. Even if he is back up to Shindler & Kongolo I have no doubt he'll be solid cover which will be crucial in a long championship season. Do I think he'll fire us to promotion? I don't think I've ever seen a defender to that tbf. Going back to my original post, what has those 3 teams getting relegated from the premier league got to do with us signing Elphick?

Probably all of the above, palace fans to a man rated him but said his legs had gone which was pretty much bang on.

Good squad signing but if Kongolo and Schindler both go and he's first choice it'll be slightly worrying. It's a bit underwhelming, no one really wants a 30 plus centre back at this level...only Town apparently. I hope the rest of the signings are a bit more exciting than this fella. Fuck me.

He was terrible when he played centre half last season. He reminds me of boom boom mccombe. Hes not defensively sound and makes big mistakes that lead to goals. If he’s a starter this year I don’t see us competing for the top 6. Being OK in possession- no more than that, is not a substitute for defensive solidity and nouse. Keeping Schindler and Kongolo is an absolute must if we’re not to undo the brilliant work of the last 5 years and compete at the top of the championship.

Might not be 100 right about in my first line but it will be generally be the case going forward. The premier league is an unregulated market. Soon the barriers to entry will be too great for new independent operators to get into the club. They may get a one year ticket but they’ll have very little chance to stay. I haven’t followed villa much but their star striker managed how many for Swansea- 5 was it? Yet has twice hit 20+ in the championship. That’s an indication of the gulf. I remember looking at Leeds’ team last season when they were top and I couldn’t see one player who’d cut it in the premier league.

It's not an absolute must, especially if we also sign Barbet (however ulikely that is). Don't get me wrong, I'd be delighted if we keep both, they'd possibly be the best pairing in the league.

I haven’t said we are or will be a top half Championship side...what I’ve said is Stankovic is not really a good enough player for a club that has those kind of aspirations, and bringing in someone who will slot in ahead of him in the pecking order makes that top half a bit more likely. Obviously impossible to tell with much accuracy before the transfer window and first few months is out of the way, but my opinion is thatwith the squad we’ve got today I’d be expecting somewhere between about 5th and 14th...what’s your opinion?

Tbf, the only negative comments I can find about the lad are from usual negative cock socks on here & twatter but they generally prove they know fuck all anyway. Nothing but praise from Villa, Bournemouth, Brighton & Hull fans. A very solid first signing imo, good luck to him.
