Last name brings images of an elephant imo. Or.... Elphicko, elphicko running down the wing Elphicko elphicko Hudders king. Elphick reminds you of an elephant ๐คจ. Cos of starting with the same 2 letters ? Does Kongolo remind you of a Koala ๐ค Kachunga does actually remind me of a Kangaroo.

Might not be 100 right about in my first line but it will be generally be the case going forward. The premier league is an unregulated market. Soon the barriers to entry will be too great for new independent operators to get into the club. They may get a one year ticket but theyโll have very little chance to stay. I havenโt followed villa much but their star striker managed how many for Swansea- 5 was it? Yet has twice hit 20+ in the championship. Thatโs an indication of the gulf. I remember looking at Leedsโ team last season when they were top and I couldnโt see one player whoโd cut it in the premier league. Villa have already bought a new striker. Which tells us theyโre aware of the gulf. We went up without even an abraham level striker.

We bought 2 strikers when we went up so we were aware of the gulf too; they did OK first season and we stayed up. Nobody had any idea whether they were 'Abraham' level strikers or not. Not sure what else they were supposed to do? Spend 50m on 2 different strikers perhaps? Spending that kind of money didn't do Fulham much good.

Fair point and I wasnโt hammering Town for our inability to compete financially. However, if your previous transfer record was ยฃ1.8M for Schindy(great buy) would you have spent ยฃ11+Million on a guy without a shot on him, only limited appearances- 1 season of goals, from the inferior French league who doesnโt move well and has no pace. I personally wouldโve wanted more all round game or more track record of goal scoring. There are better players out there for that kind of money. Grant you can see is a finisher. Moonie isnโt. Ldp definitely wasnโt. The thing about the gulf is that it now benefits town. Weโre the team with a superior squad and some proven championship players. How many players from other teams have cut it in the prem? Goalscorer is absolutely crucial and for the first time in a long time weโve bloody got one again. Some clever adding and some even better retention and weโre a promotion contender. Major doubts about the manager but assuming he can improve then we should be up there. If I was chairman Iโd have wanted my own man in and out last seasonโs shambles behind and make a fresh start but either way Town should be competitive.

Quite happy with this signing...living and working just outside Bournemouth local fans I speak to have all said what a good signing it will be for us....apparently he has a rather eccentric pre match ritual which involves head butting the goalposts...

Good and solid character, Iโm looking forward to him heading up our defence this season.

I have no issues with your incessant posting, unlike some, but what is it with taking every opportunity to jump on players who aren't flavour of the month. No constructive criticism, just childish insults.

But, I'm starting to getting totally fucking ragged off with everybody thinking it is OK to launch reactive personal attacks on people who are trying to do their best.

He played well at QPR and was ok last night. The guy is playing during our worst run ever so people are going to find fault with everything but overall he is a good pro and is a good signing.

My constructive comment is he needs better coaching and Working with.

I think MH will drop Elphick much to the annoyance of Warnock & Jeppo who would have targeted him after his 2 tv horror shows......we need our strongest pairing at the back!

Elphick is just Mark Hudson mark II.
A good , better than good in fact, championship centre back in his day, but well over the hill by the time they join us. His head knows what to do but getting his body to comply is another matter.
Hudson couldn;t jump and Elphicks the same. Jittery on the ball, distribution poor and really vulnerable to pace.
The obvious move is to put Kongolo to centre back alongside Schindler, but our transfer business has been so poor we haven't got a decent left back to come in, which when you're already trying to cope with a very weak right back on the other side isn;t ideal.

Elphick is definitely Hudson II. And you're right. As were many on here. Left back. Left back. Left fucking back. Hello. Hello.

I would put Stankovic ahead of Elphick and, yes, we still need a new left back.
