Town don't get anything out of it? Give over!
Shirt sponsorship is selling an advertising service. If we're willing to cooperate with the sponsor's marketing beyond just sticking the company's logo on our shirt, then the sponsor benefits more & we become a more attractive company to do business with!
I expect that Paddy Power will have looked around for clubs that would be willing to go along with their marketing style. Had we refused, they would have looked elsewhere & we'd have had to go with the next best offer = less money in the coffers this time & probably less next time too.
As for them advertising gambling - I don't care. I didn't care when we were sponsored by Rekorderlig either. If you don;t like alcohol, don't drink it & if you don't like betting, don't bet!

How on earth we can be criticised for advertising gambling when we play in the skybet championship is a joke. There are teams owned by gambling companies and have their stadiums named after gambling companies. It's hypocrisy of the highest order.

Don;t disagree with any of that. But say it how it is.. we're touting ourselves to potential future sponsors as a club who is willing to sell our dignity and look a bit ridiculous for a few extra quid if they want us to. Some fans don;t have an issue with that, but surely you can see how other fans do? The extra brass we get will be a tiny fraction of what we paid for Flo to put it in perspective.

Just been a piece on look north about the shirt portraying it as if we are in trouble with the FA. Interviewed a couple of mutant town fans who both moaned about how much of a disgrace it was, the most embarrassing thing about this is how some fans are taking the shirt seriously

A lot of people are going to look very silly and owe Sean Jarvis and co an apology.
Why not just wait until the shirt is on sale Saturday and then start calling people nasty names if you’re still not happy. Folk just can’t wait to be outraged these days without full facts and just end up looking like mugs.

I know that sad moaning people have been giving the retail staff in the shops a load of stick and hassle on the phone and face to face. Some people need to realise it’s not the shop staff who should be copping for their ire and anger; what have they got to do with it. They just sell you the stuff and stick it in a carrier bag!

Yup. Whilst a lot of that is obviously bollocks, badly researched and theres an clear agenda to portray us in as bad a light as possible, that doesn;t really matter because its the image of us that'll be going out across the country and beyond. Any publicity is good publicity eh?

Got to feel for the staff copping stick it’s not their fault The hierarchy at the club however look like they couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery right now Three key appointments sacked within 6 months in the last two years - moss, rebbe and winkler. Jury out on sieward Millions wasted in transfers last summer Changing logos twice in a year - literally why - and faulty kit last summer Now this PR disaster Honestly it’s a bit of a mess recently from the outside looking in

Whilst I’m overall supportive of the stunt (assuming it is!)
I get it’s better for Pp than us but ultimately they’ve secured that via a higher sponsorship payment than anyone else would have. Anyone saying we don’t get anything out of it read that but about paying a higher £ again
I also put some value on publicity - from website hits, wider media interest, business’s taking note we’ve a sense of humour who may not have otherwise done so etc etc. Others may not, I get that.
But....I do think we need to draw the line and reveal the real shirt this side of the weekend - I’d hoped we’d do that at Rochdale
The joke has been and gone now - timing key. Leave it too long (we have already imo) and we look daft
Draw the line, auction these shirts off for charity and reveal the real shirt / logo.
Sash aside I think the rest of that shirt looks great - let’s get it on show properly!

The Daily Mail calling ANYBODY a laughing stock - oh ok then Why some were defending the we're sponsoring Huddersfield video as a brilliant humourous piece of PR and then get their knickers in a twist over the kit stunt is beyond bizarre.

I guarantee that if we announce a proper kit on Saturday there’ll be a whole host of fans from other clubs saying ‘well they’ve only changed it because they looked stupid or they broke the rules’. We’ve let it go on far too long and look like a tinpot bunch of amateurs at best right now. And don’t give me this crap about exposure, this won’t increase shirt sales or attendances. All it will do is line the pockets of Paddy Power.

It's not my proverbial cup of tea but it's not causing anything like the damage the players did last season when we couldn't score a goal for wks on end!!!! Folks need to stop being professionally offended and let it all work out as it will. I'm more concerned how we get billing, zanka et al out and bring new players in than a kit with a sash!

Any publicity is good publicity eh? I think you’ll find it’s not badly researched at all. It’s just worded carefully to bait people into reading it and then commenting about it. Why? To get them to refer other people to their website - and it worked. Now, if only Town and their sponsors could do something like that..... ah.

Oh, I can see how professionally offended snowflakes find offence - both here & elsewhere! "Sell our dignity"? It's a shirt worn in a pre-season friendly ffs. It's not selling our past, it's not disregarding our history. We're still the same club, playing in the same colours in the same town & still rooted in the local community. I'd say that it's entirely in keeping with how the club has been run since things took an upturn with the appointment of Wagner. We're a bit different. It's a good thing.

Is it the club that have serious issues to address or the irate moaners who have to have a long hard look at themselves for getting upset and berating the shop floor staff over a piece of printed material!

It's not a tiny bit like that. It is. The video was somat or nowt. A bit of a pisstake..'bants'.. PP laughing at themselves as much as us. Pretty funny really. It was there, then it wasn;t. Thats a bit like saying, why would some be amused at the neighbour kids sneaking into the garden to get their football back but then get their knickers in a twist when they start chucking bricks at the greenhouse. Using that analogy for those 2 bits of PR IS clearly the problem - A lack of perspective is what I see here! Feel free to continue throwing the teddies out of the pram - My advice would be to let it play out and maybe don't take things too much to heart. You were chiding folk for overreacting to the sponsor clip, then your photoshopping blinkers on the Brentford to Town shirt followed by this overreaction IMO It seems you're not having the best of weeks fella!
