Come on Chips this isn’t your first BBQ you know how these forums work. People discuss their perspectives on circumstances relating to passion / subject matter that unites them. In this case Hudds Town. And not many managers nowadays have one formation for every situation, it’s not 1987. I don’t think 4-3-3 is a good system unless you have some exceptionally gifted players, especially the wide players in a front 3 ( like Eden Hazard, for example). It is easy (especially if you have Mbenza and Diakhaby as those wide players) to get overrun in midfield. I can see those two becoming more effective going forward, and you never know with a bit of confidence, but both looked hopeless defensively. I can't see us ever starting both at the same time.

I hope so, I can't see the point of wanting to play a fast 433 but having someone with no pace slowing it down. Diakhaby, Mbenza or VLP for me, Pritch will be good but not fast, Col or Kach will be neither

It is easy (especially if you have Mbenza and Diakhaby as those wide players) to get overrun in midfield. Depends how you play it. If you’re relying on the midfield 3 to cover out wide and the wingers to stay high for the counter attack (as Jan seems to like) then I think it could be a recipe for disaster as the opposition play it round us and pull the midfield out of shape. That’s how we played it at Newcastle last season and they had their wide players pinned up against our full backs, launched big diagonals to them and overloaded every time. However, we should hopefully have far better respective quality this season so won’t struggle nearly as much one on one, and would like us to get the opposition to worry about us on the counter rather than the safety first approach of Wagner.

Grabara Bockhorn Schindler Elphick Kongolo Bacuna Hogg Mooy Van la Parra Grant Mbenza I know there's a few who still rate VLP but I'll be amazed if he starts against Derby. He'll be lucky to make the 18

Usual tripe. Not quite sure how "I definitely have the idea of my team" translates to knowing his exact lineup.

Slightly off topic but, any pubs I should avoid taking a derby fan to before the game?

From Jan's comments about Isaac I'd say swap him for Diakhaby in your team and you won't be far off Which comments? Something I saw on FB earlier. Can't find them now but he said he was 4-5 weeks behind the rest due to the Euro U21's and he would need to do really well in training this week to be involved against Derby

But not taking into account the relative divisions 🤔, pretty fucking pointless stats

Seen a few different teams through scrolling through this thread. Everyone I stop and go...that’s a tasty team, then the next yeh I’d like that. The conclusion being I really think we have a fresh young and pacey team with real depth. Maybe one more to come in, possibly in right fullback, however can’t deny I am really excited to see where this team takes us
Providing we make it through deadline day 🙈

Starting 11 Grabara Hadergjonaj | Schindler | Elphick | Kongolo Hogg | Bacuna | Mooy Diakhaby | Grant | Mbenza
Bench Coleman | Bockhorn | Stankovic | Brown | Pritchard | Koroma | Mounié
Reserves Schofield | Edmonds-Green | Duhaney | Daley | O'Brien | VLP | Quaner
I would love to see us get a natural left sides player who can play left back, left midfield and left wing into the squad before deadline day.
I think Kachunga could go at this point, VLP would likely go if we brought in another left sides player and Quaner I'm sure will go somewhere in January.
What's the situation with Rekeil Pyke?

Midfield is the worry for me. Chairman very specifically advised what our tactics will be in a 4-3-3.
One of the 3 takes the ball from the defenders, to give to the other 2 to create with the 2 wingers.
My problem is Mooy is the only one i trust to do either role.
