We’ve replaced Smith with Brockhorn. Supportive of a lot of what we’ve done in the close season but I suspect we’ve massively underestimated the step up from that level to the Championship with this one. We’ve done it before with Dominic Werling, Dean Heffernan and Jason Davidson, all of whom were totally out of their depth even at League One level. Should have learnt our lessons there. He is a right back playing left back. He has also played for 45 minutes. Maybe cut him some slack. Played well second half. But because he had a poor first half, he’ll be written off by some.

Still doing stuff going forward at the end, good enough for me pre season. Never kid myself pre season with results either way, we are playing how I like and the results are a bonus for friendlies.

Bockhorn ain’t the issue. It’s Flo that’s shite, and he ain’t ‘non-league’. Herbert has been far the better full-back so far and he’s arguably playing out of position; the fact I’m saying he’s stronger and better in the tackle should come as no surprise. He’s driven forward every time this second half and did so in the first. Give the bloke a break. I have watched Flo for two years however and I’m still exasperated by him. There’s just no end product with Flo whatsoever. Bockhorn best player on pitch second half. Strong, attack-minded and calm on ball. All whilst playing on the wrong side. Going to be a firm fan favourite I reckon!! Teed up Flo to place it straight at the keeper. Flo needs to go to finishing school, that was 💩

Bockhorn excellent second half Mbenza looking confident too Yes, thought Bockhorn looked better as the game wore on. And O’Brien was very good. It will be interesting to see if he starts against Derby.

By the way you said champions league Dortmund 😂 Sorry, I missed off the winky thing 😉 I would have agreed that it was a hell of a gamble to bring Blockhorn in had Siewert not coached / managed him before. But Siewert knows him very well and is certain that he can make it with us - or as certain as he can be, as every transfer is a gamble. Siewert knows that if Blockhorn is a failure, then his judgement and job is on the line

It will be interesting to see if he starts against Derby. O'Brien looks more than capable of Championship football. Great on the ball, can drive forward with pace and enjoys getting stuck in The only one who really didn't do himself any favours today was Koroma. Really struggled and on that evidence it could be a while before he forces himself in to the 18 Really looking forward to seeing what a front 3 of Grant, Diakhaby and Mbenza can do in the Championship. Pace got us in behind a few times today and that was against a good side

Could have been 1-3 after 25 mins but we got better second half, due in part to Mooy giving us more options. Better test than some of the other pre season games.

Siewert knows that if Blockhorn is a failure, then his judgement and job is on the line I doubt it. Loads of transfers don't work out. SAF spent a ton of money on some right garbage and never got fired. I doubt Jan will be judged on the success of one player. Having said that, thought Herbert looked good and he'd start at right back before Flo any day of the week for me.

Only a friendly and my observations and thoughts. Diakhaby not for me yes little flicks etc But no right foot backs out of tackles he will get smashed in championship. Bacuna and hogg not in the same team for me. Grant gets injured we are fkd Would have liked to have seen bockhorn at rb.

He didn't quite have the final ball today but keep getting in those positions and he'll get 10+ goals this season VLP doesn't make those runs. He'd rather stand on the touchline and wait to receive it out there. We don't have anyone to cross to so that is now pointless. It's between Diakhaby, Mbenza and Pritchard for the 2 wide places

Enjoyed the game today, except for the thieving c*** who stole my match programme, you couldn't pay 2 quid for your own? Fucking Town fan stealing from a fellow Town fan? Unbelievable.

Thought Koroma was a bit better second half. O'Brien was better with Mooy as he needs ballplayers around him. Too similar to Hogg to start together in most games I would say. Both were often within five yards of eachother in the first half. Diakhaby makes very good runs and if he can start using his right foot, he will be a right handful. The key thing though was that there seems to be a confidence with the group and that was by far and away our biggest barrier to overcome after last season. We have a very difficult start and we may take a bit of time to become consistent, but there is plenty to be encouraged by. Bockhorn to make Right back his own before long as well.

i know its early days but bockhorn looks well short of the level required I'd call less than 45 mins into a home debut friendly "early days" too. In fact far too early to say "looks well short of the level required" Would you agree?

We have a very difficult start and we may take a bit of time to become consistent, but there is plenty to be encouraged by. Bockhorn to make Right back his own before long as well. I tried to watch O'brien closely today, as I would really like him to succeed, given he's come up through the academy ranks, but I couldn't make out exactly what kind of midfielder he is. Box-to-box? Sitting in front of the back 4? One who gets in between the opposing lines? Had some nice touches and carried the ball well at times, but I felt there were opportunities for him to break in between Montpellier's midfield and defensive line, but he didn't see those chances. As for Bockhorn, he seemed to struggle first half but seemed to grow into the LB role in the second, moreso when Mbenza came on and replaced Koroma down the left. If it weren't for the different boots, I'd have constantly confused Koroma and Bockhorn! Was looking forward to getting a glimpse of Reece Brown today, so shame he didn't participate. Does his omission from today's game indicate he may well be in the starting 11 against Derby, given Siewert's comments about not overworking the players who have also had minutes in the behind closed doors friendlies?

My thoughts, Kamil Grabara, best goalkeeper in the championship Bacuna could be the outstanding player of the championship, Grant could be the leading goal scorer of the championship And Mooy, the best player in the championship. Early days and I see everything through blue and white glasses
