This place, after 1 game of a 46 game season. It'll be the usual bollocks on here by the looks, different season, same miserable bastards who can't see beyond the end of their nose... I think it's more to do with the fact that after a full close season, and a (somewhat modest) change, people were expecting a fresh start and fresh approach on the pitch. The reality was the same football we have been watching for the past 12 months.

What has changed from last season though? Same old same old including Jan’s post match interview. Too many with the same attitude that Jan isn’t the man to turn things around to be wrong.

Can you imagine if Diakhaby or Mbenza played a full season and only got 2 goals and 3 assists. They'd get some right shit on here That's what VLP managed in 2016/17 The big difference is VLP knows exactly what he wants to do with it. Doesn’t always or even often come off but AT LEAST HE KNOWS. These lads don’t know what to do with the ball and Ben in this league with more space they both were far too slow of thought. It’s like they’re very new to the game- pushed into it because of their pace. Is there a video of these guys doing anything good? Like beating a man and getting a shot off and scoring? That might help your argument as no one at Town has seen more than the odd very slight glimpse. I'd have thought that the point of playing a left footed player on the right and a right footed player on the left is so they can cut inside and leather it. It rarely happens though and so surely it would be better for them to swap wings, giving them half a chance of getting a decent cross in from the bye line. Oh for the days of a couple of wingers like Pilks and Roberts.

Oh for the days of a couple of wingers like Pilks and Roberts. The only chance left for Diakbenza is a new manager to come in and release or explain a simple and effective way and position for them to play...and that’s clutching at straws as a new manager might well say- sorry I can’t play these guys and win much. Roberts and Pilks pre injuries were far far more accomplished players and far more effective.

Diakhaby is fasts. But he can’t play football. The same as a Mbenza is also fast he also cannot play football. Summed up perfectly

Exactly, it’s game 18 under Jan and every single one has been fucking shite. It’s not about the league its about the performance of the players. We might lose in any league but if we show organisation, drive, determination, creativity and skill then the loyal Hudders fans won’t complain (too much haha) but you get my point. We’re starting a new season and we’re lacklustre, disorganised, lacking aggression and hunger. It was, for me, a desperate performance.

It's still only 1 game though - We had more spells of positive forward play than we have done for a while, but mistakes and inconsistency make it look like a poorer performance than it probably was...
Town fan - I'll never stop trying to see the upsides, why as a supporter would you bother yourself with just looking at the negative angles. There's far worse shit to worry about than HTFC...

The result and dreadful first 30 minutes has certainly brought some of the biggest cretins out. Are they cretins or just simply speaking what was evident on the pitch? I don't want to say I told you so but I questioned the ridiculous 433 formation pre season but no one would have it but tonight was evidence of what I had thought all along. Nothing has changed at all, only two of the summer signings started tonight, the same old frailties to the fore, the lack of goalscoring ability, the inability to pass, tackle, shoot or pick up the second ball and we seem to have obtained a knack of getting caught in possession, lost count the times we did tonight. Going to be a long old season this one.

I'm struggling to see any positives or this positive forward play you speak off, as again, we created very little in the way of clear cut chances, two maybe, both horrendously missed. It was a poor performance, I don't think anything will disguise that.

If we are going to play down the wings and rely on crosses in the box then Mounie has to start when fit nobody else has any aerial presence Elphick was handing out aerial presents in the first half.

I'm worried. First game maybe, but I've seen pretty much the same style of performance as last season. I didn't really care if we lost as long as something changed a bit in the way we were playing.
Lose our next two or three playing like that and the place will be in meltdown. And rightly so.

From chairman, to manager, to kit man.... the message seems to be more of the same. If I had bought Town, it would have been a revolution. The plan. 1. Play attacking football. 2. Promote academy players. 3. Give all supporters 2 clappers 4. Better, stronger, louder. 5. Rub out all the names on the teamsheet, put only the round pegs In the round holes and recruit for the holes missing pegs.

A Liverpool style score more goals than the opposition approach? Tonight suggested that the green shoots of recovery were doing OK, but we've been in a massive rut mentally & performance wise. Someone pointed out on the match thread (Kongolo possibly), that there still seemed to be a few who looked like strangers to one another. I'd agree with that, but there were also a few times when we showed some cohesion and playing the runners into spaces quite nicely that suggested otherwise. We can either be prophets of doom, or we can dust ourselves down for the next game, which thankfully is only a few days away now. I'm thankful that 46 games allows less time for reflection on here.

Strangers? 9 of the starting 11 tonight played last season. Stop making excuses for them. It were garbage tonight and I certainly hope there is an improvement at Loftus Road on Saturday.

I’m not always one for being in art’s corner but I’m side by side with him on this. I think there’s only more pain to come before the axe is swung & the whole managerial merry-go-round starts again. It was the wrong appointment, at the wrong time, and I’ve seen nothing at all really to prove otherwise.

I think we will struggle this season just have a feeling ...think we could be looking over our shoulders Haha, you've crawled back out from under your stone, I see. Where were you after we beat you in the play offs at "The Cauldron", when we went up at Wembley or beat Man Utd in the Premier League? You absolute throbber.

Disorganized, chaotic, lacking composure, and most of all boring beyond belief. Basically the same shite we have been watching for the last 12 months. Siewart will be gone by Xmas, mark my words.Don't think he'll last that long, to be honest.

I'm not even on about those that often have a daft rant and calm down after. Usual suspects, only talking about 5 or so.

Town need to strengthen with quality and experience after tonight . It is incredible that we seem to be scratting around for bargains when we be in a stronger financial position than ever before after our Premiership stay. Many more abject performances like last night and we will be looking up the league table again like last year. Once again we have no cutting edge. Very disappointing, Town fans deserve better.

I can understand what Siewert is trying to do but for 25 minutes last night our midfield 3 were bossed out of the game by a team that 'knew' what it was about and played accordingly. No cutting edge. No fluid plan meaning players playing zonal and constantly marking thin air. No service to the strikers. A truly woeful right back. However all is not lost. We can only get better.

It’s one game ffs so stop moaning and throwing toys out of the pram. So, if you would kindly let folk know just how many games of this ilk do we have to endure before you allow us to call it as it is? Read my post, ‘it’s ONE game ‘ of 46. It was bad first half but much better second without a breakthrough. Learn lessons a move onto Saturday and put things right. What do you do when things in life don’t go your way all the time?

Flo’s getting a load of stick for not finding a man in their box, but how often did we get more than one man in their box. When Derby scored their second, there must have been another 2 or 3 Derby players around the scorer wanting to get at us and score.
