And a little further down the road... One of my best mates is an Oldham fan and he was saying the same a few weeks ago. All sorts of rumours, including the manager not picking the team.

Seem to remember their fans waving £20 and £10 notes at us when we were in the shit, fcuk em I didn't realise they aren't opening the new stand at the moment, what a waste. I drive past it quite often, there is a Gym in the new stand but didn't know it wasn't owned by the club. They are in a mess though, survived in League One for a long time but wouldn't be surprised to see them head the way of Stockport/Notts County into Non League. Paul Scholes was there for a very short period last season, he's a big Latics fan and i recall him saying it was a mess, and probably beyond his help.

EFL members vote not to reinstate Bury In league 2 next year - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49841324Does anyone know how we voted on this? I'm guessing that a good number of league 2 clubs voted against as it means 1 less team will be relegated this year. Also, why was the criteria 50% of EFL clubs and 50% of the championship clubs must vote yes for Bury to be reinstated?

I think Paul Scholes probably felt that despite the club being in a mess he could sort it out, just not with an owner in place that wants to pick the team and tell him how he should play etc.

And a little further down the road... I find it fascinating that Yorkshire's professional football clubs went through a collective crisis from five to twenty years ago while the clubs across the Pennines seemed to thrive. Now it's turned full circle and the traditional Red Rose teams are dropping like flies. Is it anything to do with the RL Superleague that was formed in 1996 having more of an affect initially in Yorkshire? Or the more recent rise of Man City, and the Man Utd breakaway fans club plus the funding of Salford City (as a counter to FCUoM)? I suppose there are only so many fans and sponsors in a certain geographical area. This is very much a casual hypothesis and I'm interested in arguments for and against.

Now that the EFL Clubs have voted against admitting Bury to League 2 (not self-interest surely?) it is looking very bleak for the Shakers. It seems that with everything mortgaged or linked to a debt that they are in a total financial mess. Doing a Wimbledon and starting new club (there already is a Bury Town so Bury Shakers perhaps?) might be their best option. Very sad.

How did rangers get away with keeping the name, just out of interest, if anyone knows. Did they become Glasgow rangers or something?

Bury AFC's first game in the North West Counties League is away at Ilkley Town (both teams first ever game at this level following Town's promotion from the West Yorkshire League))

I need to have a proper pore over the allocations for this year. It's all change down here with the abolishment of the EMCL and expansions of other leagues.
